Disgaea 1 Complete Review (PS4) | The Best Place To Start? 

Which Disgaea game should I play next?

If people didn't grow up playing Disgaea since its iteration on the ps2 then at least this game will give people a perfect opportunity to jump into the series. I remember when the game first came out for the ps2 and how incredibly hard it was to actually find, but thankfully with the game released in so many different formats there are no shortage of ways to play the first Disgaea but more than anything, this sounds like the most definitive way to enjoy the first game in the series. Hopefully people getting into the series for the first time will get their enjoyment out of this game and everything it has to offer.

I like the quirky humor the games have. And since 1 was where Flonne (my favorite character) first appeared, it holds an even more special place in my heart. I just love Flonnes air headed personality

I would have picked this up, as I enjoyed the PS2 original years and years ago. 49.99 is pretty damn steep for such an old game though....

Great video dood! I was interested in Disgaea 5 on switch but passed. Your videos will make it much more accessible to get into Disgaea. Your right that it was very overwhelming when I saw gameplay.

What a great fair and balanced review. I usually expect people who get free copies of games to shill a bit, but as someone who has done everything there is to do in the game two times over, your review gets my seal of approval. You hit the nail on the head with what this release offers.

Played the psp version. Wanted to buy this day one, but the $50 price was the deal breaker. $40 would have been the perfect price.

Similar to your first experience, when I first tried Disgaea (for me it was the third game) it all felt very overwhelming. I could create my own characters from the very start and with little to no knowledge on the series I was very lost on what to do. I didn't exactly tried learning it because I was more interested on other games (I got Disgaea 3 for free through PS+) but maybe I'll give it another try. I thought it just wasn't my kind of game. Anyway. Great video, as always. Keep it up!

Very good review, again loving the focus of the rpg and jrpg games and a few on the PS4 I see on your back catalog :). Again very well done, like the fact you not only go over to what you like an love but ALSO what you found issue with, what you felt was flawed. Hoping the frequency increases but going to sub in good faith as the love and passion is easily seen an I just have to hope these detailed reviews can increase over this an next year :) Got to reward real fandom when that fandom has good sound, good editing and good review structure :)

@JRPG Central sadly what I don't like about the game is that they where too lazy to up date the backround sprites when they where going through memory and kept them the same as the ps2 version.

I dont mind playing these on different systems its one of my fave series

I dabbled in the end game with the psp but the amount of grind for some of the stuff is ginormous. Even something as "trivial" as leveling a character past the 6000+ mark becomes a time sink (and not very fun). The math on those unlockables is simply staggering. Hey at least no mtx!

Noticed this, and 5, are both on sale through the Switch e-shop and I'm very tempted to pick one of them up. Haven't played the series at all though, would you recommend this or should I just pick up 5 instead?

hahaha, the guy said he beat the game in 60 hrs. I was 100 hrs in and barely brush mid game.
