Excellent move from the crew. They are not to blame: 30 minutes without cleaning tools isn't doable for a 180-seat plane. And cheap prices come with some deficits elsewhere.

In another life, I was a flight attendant on a budget airline. On our airline, the cabin crew was responsible for grooming the aircraft, sometimes in as little as 20 to 30-minute turns. There were occasions where the mess was too great to cope with a decision had to be made to carry on to the next point where a cleaner could be arranged to meet the aircraft. It's quite possible the extent of the mess of the Blue Air aircraft was not discovered until they de-boarded the aircraft at LHR, too late to arrange a cleaner without incurring a delay. It wasn't biological, like blood or feces, etc and the decision was made to carry on. Blue Air is very active on social media, so it's no surprise that you posted, (36.5k followers on IG) and were treated to the upgrade. I enjoy your videos, despite your clickbait titles. ;)

They literally are "air buses" in the most literal sense. In the northern winter season (when demand in Europe falls off a cliff) most of them make more from onboard catering than they do on most of the tickets. The cabin crew also usually act as boarding agents and other roles as well, so they genuinely don't get a chance to clean their aircraft or do anything other than safety essential and security essential tasks.

30 minutes isn’t the cleaning time, it’s the entire turn around time. Passengers off, security check, cabin tidy, passengers on, passenger headcount, passenger seat allocation check for weight and balance, doors closed, passenger pre-departure check (seatbelts, bag stowage, emergency exits clear), notification to flight deck ready to go then push back…… I agree that it’s nice to have a spotless cabin but the crew don’t have that kind of equipment onboard to clean like that, it’s a specialist company that comes onboard to do it. Not really compatible with the 30 minutes and would almost certainly result in a higher ticket price for all…

Hey Noel! I usually really love your videos however this one disappointed me. As Cabin Crew myself for a LCC we also have a 30 minute turnaround which consists of a "tidy" not a clean. We are not paid to clean the aircraft like you'd expect from a legacy carrier for example, and the difference between two is what keeps your fare cheaper than a legacy carrier who pay a cleaning team. With that said we really do try our best during that time. Considering you only paid £14 for the fare, and the crew made an effort to make you more comfortable during the flight - I do believe credit is due to the crew here. As the saying goes "you get what you pay for" - and in regards to filthy, that's nothing. If anyone supervising from Blue Air is watching this... Successful Southwest in The States does a 35-minute turnaround (and they're experts, as they've been doing this for years) in most flights, so you should actually strive for a 40-minute turnaround first to see if your personnel structure can take it, then lower it to 35 minutes if it can be done satisfactory. On some routes that are prone to light turbulence or crosswind, the plane look WAY worse than what I have seen here. During deboarding, the crew does pick up large pieces of trash, but they don't check seat pockets, wipe tray tables or seats... Unlike Noel, many of us aren’t able to afford business class on full-service airlines which operate out of the major airports. One of the old problems is you get the last flight of the day, it is frequently not fully cleaned. The crew wants the day to end. 30 minutes is not enough time to do a good cleaning, especially at the end of the day. You should have seen SouthWest at the end of the day with 10 minute turnaround times in Texas. Or PSA or AirCal in California with 30 minute turns. Not that I'm defending Blue Air, but I've seen the same on other low cost. Flew Ryanair out of Bergamo and due to arrival delay they didn't clean the plane. Out with the arriving passengers, in with the departing passengers. While we were boarding the aircraft they were refueling it on the other side. Under the seat in front of me there was a squashed soda can. There were paper tissues on the floor in the back of the cabin (I boarded through the rear door). And that was a year before Covid struck. Wizzair, out of Barcelona, kept us an extra 20 minutes waiting "to clean the aircraft". They somehow missed a bunch of tissues in the pocket of the seat in front of the place next to mine. So I'm guessing that they sure had little time and staff to clean out a big mess. Yeah, it's not allright to have a mess in the cabin, but sometimes they just have to make do with whatever resources they have. And don't get me started on passengers making a mess just because they can, or are entitled to have the airline clean after them because, you know, they paid for the ticket.

I've flown Blue Air a few times and must say they were very clean every time, mine were Larnaca based Airframes operated by Cypriot crews, so standards and turn around times may differ as i'm sure the turn around time was over an hour at Luton. Was weird though as i flew on YR-BMI on one flight and the interior was still in Hapag as original.

Almost all international flights and in some places domestic flights require a PCR test 72 hours or less before boarding even if vaccinated. Its not airline mandated its government mandated. Even with the neg PCR test some countries still have mandatory quarantine on arrival and others have PCR tests are regular intervals to try to slow the spread.

It's really tough on the cabin crew as they only have 30 mins, sometimes LESS to clean cabin in between flights. My friends a hostess and said its crazy. I think they should have cleaners to come and assist. When I fly, I take a little pack of zoflora wipes and clean the seats, window and toilet seat before use. The cabin crew saw me wiping everything down and had no objection and said our area smelled lovely. I was traveling with 2 young kids and didnt fancy getting a bug off the plane lol. One hostess said she wished everyone would clean up like us hehe. I suggested they maybe offer some cleaning wipes around so I didn't need to bring it with me. Loving your videos. Budget fly will never get cleaners in on a turnaround. The crew go down quick as passagers get off. Pick up rubbish wipe lap trays and pick any rubbish up that can be seen. Then on night stop has a good clean. This way keeping cost low. If there is any kind of cleanliness issue just inform for them to correct. Great video again.

The crew on my flight from Luton to Iași was really sweet! I was on a school trip and all the kids from my group were scatered on the plane and I was sat next to a really creepy old man. Thankfuly a crew member noticed that I was uncomfortable and moved me next to some other kids in my group! That was probably the best part of flying with BlueAir, the service on the aircraft. So honestly, I don't think they moved you because you were a reviewer, I could be wrong tho.

Awesome video as always Noel. Shame that they didn't fully clean the cabin. Fun fact last summer I noticed that Blue Air was operating flights between London Heathrow and Nice, France (NCE aka my local airport). Which is something that definitely made me chuckle : a Romanian low cost airline running flights between LHR and NCE on a route that's usually only served by British Airways and very often the fares were much lower than BA

Here is a suggestion... when you have a problem on a flight, don't post it to Instagram first. First do what any normal passenger would do and ask a member of the cabin crew to solve the problem we'll sort it out. If you then get no luck and nothing happens then post a picture on Instagram and then see what happens. It would be very interesting from a customer point of view to see how they solve your problem or not when you ask as an individual person like we would, vs when you ask as a RU-vid and Instagram person with hundreds of thousands of people listening to you

Clean planes: on some airlines, especially (U)LC ones, the CC is responsible for cleaning. On that 30m turnaround they are supposed to clean the entire airplane, do a safety check and look for items left behind. The safety check, being of course, the most important of all of these tasks can quite some time if done properly. You make time to clean, but in the end when time ran out, it ran out. When I was a flight attendant, we did our damndest to clean it very nicely, but sometimes there simply wasn't enough time to get every spot done. The floor was dirty, but sometimes you can't request vaccum service - again - because of time related issues (the cleaners also tend to take a lot of time to arrive, probably due to their own workload). Front toilet: during Covid, many airlines reserved the front toilet for the flight- and cabin crew :) Hope this clarifies things a bit!

At least in the US, we are only allowed 2h5m to deboard a plane, clean it, board and close the door. This also includes the time to get the cleaners on/off, crew boarding and their sweeps. For a British Airways 777-300, we were only allowed 45 minutes to clean the entire plane. That’s a lot of cleaning for 270+ seats. And I wasn’t even a part of the cleaning crew. Some desk agents had to help out when the cleaning crew was short staffed or when the turn around had to be quicker than 45 minutes. *just something to think about*

Hi, it's the first time I ever heard of Blue Air. The B737 Max 8 is a nice aircraft even if the Max series had a very catastrophic start but I hope all is resolved now and NO other problems or nasty air incidents come around. Anyway cleanliness of the aircraft, we are in the COVID19 times now and aircraft cleanliness should be one of those items that now needs to be prioritized, no questions asked. I have flown on a low cost in Australia called JetStar Australia back in 2014 and on an A330-202, the service was great and cabin crew just as nice. They did serve a cup of water free of charge, I still find bringing your own snacks and perhaps a a fully charged device like a smart phone or tablet are better on low cost. Even entertainment was payware. (Air France's now defunct Joon low cost airline provided free streaming on their flights before it went defunct). But above all the flight I boarded started in Fiji with a stop over in Melbourne where I boarded the flight to Sydney just an hour away, but they still had time to clean the cabin. Sorry Blue Air if it was me taking a low cost in UK and found that yours was filthy I'll fly with another airline. Probably another reason they bumped you to another seat was because you found that filth under the tray table.

Giving my own opinion here. I think, at the very least, that you should have had a refund of your seat reservation. £30 for a seat is expensive, budget airline or not, and for a seat that's grubby is also inexcusable, especially in this day and age of Covid. Some people may class a move to an exit seat as an upgrade. I don't, I still think you should have had your seat reservation refunded, upgraded seat or not.

With a lot of LCC's I think it still ends up costing a lot less. I booked a flight on a LCC, pre-bought the bags, seat selection, priority boarding and extra leg room and it was still less than 1/2 the price of airlines that brand themselves as budget (think Southwest Airlines for example). If you don't pre-purchase these upgrades then perhaps it's a similar price and not worth flying. That said, I haven't flown yet. I know for double the price the experience would have been pleasant, I just hope I don't regret going with the cheaper option.

Did this in 1981, albeit from MAN to LHR. The plane was a clapped out 707, dirty and very bare, with worn-out seat cushions. Not my first flight, but my first in a plane and I wasn't too thrilled. In contrast, the next leg (LHR-SIN) was on a smart new Singapore Airlines 747. Mine must have been one of the last flights to land at Paya Lebar Airport. The final leg was SIN- KCH on MAS. This was my third plane flight ever in quick succession and my scariest! We flew through a thunderstorm and turbulence was really bad. The plane dropped several thousand feet in a matter of seconds and this happened a few times. I thew up the breakfast the crew had recently served! The next Summer, I made the same journey again. The shuttle to LHR was much newer plane, 737, I think. LHR-SIN was courtesy of BA and the final leg was MAS again. Everything about Singapore Airlines and my flight was absolutely impeccable. In between the two trips, Singapore and opened Changi Airport. What a difference! No shuttle bus to the terminal, we had these new-fangled passenger boarding bridges. What struck me most about landing in Singapore and Kuching though, was the heat and humidity. Stepping out of the plane at Kuching was like stepping into a hot, humid oven!

The seats are much way better than BA, Lufthansa, EasyJet or Ryanair. Blue Air seats vs Ryanair on 737 MAX are way much superior. Adjustable head rest compared with no head rest for example. Another thing about Heathrow is that because it only has two runways (for comparison: JFK has 4, CDG also has 4, and Schiphol has 6) it gets really crowded. I get your point about moving people but from my experience from working as a ramp lead at pdx the reason why they can't move all is because of weight and balance of the aircrafts from luggage, cargo, freight, and mail put together, but it does suck and we had 30 minute turn around we would have a couple ramp crew go up into the aircraft with some of the gate agents and clean the best they can so yes your right they did have time to clean it, including when my red eye 757 300 stretch came in we still went in and did what we had to do and still loaded our aircrafts and push on time

Regarding cleanliness that wasn't acceptable. I worked at GLA as an airline caterer and flight dispatcher, it is possible to deliver catering and clean an aircraft in under 30 minutes. The chances are the catering carts were put on in Romania and used for the outward and inward flight. So they could have cleaned the aircraft in well under 30 minutes. My best guess is they don't want to pay for cleaners. Another good video Noel 👍
