This video was helpful when I was first trying to figure out why the dishwasher wouldn't drain. The only problem for ours is that the filter was not "easy" to get to. toru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OozITSlDt_U.html

Be sure to keep the videos of your son around so you can threaten to use them to embarrass him later in life. (fathers are good at that) I also liked the title: Happy Wife, Happy Life. actually from an appliance tech of 35 years, the cycle starts in a pump out cycle to pump out liquids that have dripped out of cups or off of dishes when it was loaded.. the dishwasher never drains all of the water out due to the positioning of the drain hose.. it must be higher than the top of pump motor and have a loop in it or an air gap to prevent siphoning, and drainback. some pumps have check valves to prevent drainback but it never pumps all of the water out.
@unclemarksdiyauto

Love the bloopers at the end. The intro was almost believable! I have been married 35 years, and a scratched dishwasher front might be the scratch that pushes everything over! Glad you both have a sense of humour. In all seriousness, your kid probably has a bunch of years of dishwasher pictures left in him, so maybe just keep him drawing, and keep the scratch hidden! By the time he stops drawing, it will be new dishwasher time!

I have that same dishwasher... the problem was very similar to what happened to mine quite a few yrs ago. ‘Someone’ had dropped a wooden spatula in thru the bottom rack and the lower agitator spin arm had smacked it and splintered the wood. She who shall remain blameless realized it and fished it out (and ‘some’ of the wooden pieces) without sharing that info. A few days later, I open the D/W and see that there’s still a load of water in the bottom, FIND a few pieces of wood around the pre-filter and Shop-Vac all the water out, and like MrsWes, think it’s fixed! A few weeks later, same problem... appliance repair neighbour gets called this time, says, there’s a ‘floaty thing of wood or plastic’ stuck in your float ball which is tricking the machine into thinking it’s empty when it isn’t! Pulled out the last of the splintered wooden spatula, TaDaaa, problem solved. I had the same ‘extra’ question for the neighbour about the water that was left I the bottom once it drained properly. He stated that it NEEDED to be there as it was used to keep the pump impeller and pump shaft from drying out and leaking all over the kitchen floor! He also said, if the D/W isn’t being used regularly, throw a cup or two of water in the bottom every couple of weeks...! Glad it’s fixed, Chinesium tools are (almost) as good as having no tools!!!

there is always water left in the sump after pump out
@thomaslevy2119
@thomaslevy2119 3 года назад
True. Whatever water left in the drain hose after the pump stops will return to the sump. The pump can't remove every drop of water. Normal.
@johankotze42

Given that the pumps are centrifugal, that "sump' can never be empty after use. I think.

Nice work! These are the simplest things to work on as you found out. And there will always be a little water left, it drains back from the discharge hose when the cycle is done. And your son, I thought I was one of the few who could raise and lower your eyebrows independently, cool!

The son asks his dad, why are wedding dresses white? Dad replies, back in the day all kitchen appliances came in white.

Beware son to whom you say that ! I asked kind of a same joke to my Mom. Did'nt see the hard slap coming. Instant pain. Bleeding nose, glasses twisted... Dad laughing at me. Shame.

When my wife and I first married, 1964, Coppertone was the big color. We saved and bought coppertone appliances one at a time. About the time we had all of them coppertone gave way to harvest gold and light green. I was talking to an appliance salesman and he explained he had sold them for years. He said colors come and go. White is never the latest style but it is never out of style. From that point forward we have bought only white appliances.

Just as well you didn't have to scrap her, when you get a newer model you realise it's the same problems but a different... dishwasher. Also no check engine light or OBD2 port? Get it together GE. 🤔

Super video, brightened up a wet and windy Sat evening. Am highly entertained that if this was the first Wes video that someone watched of a guy fixing a dishwasher on a kitchen floor with chintzy tools they'd be thinking he could do with a small shed and a few quality tools to get started.

@@dans_Learning_Curve lol, I liked the “They want me to take the skid plate off the dozer to get to those starter bolts, well, I’m not going to do that” out comes a chain attached to a skid steer bucket and we’ll just yank on it till we bust it off.
