@@BurgundySorcerer A Wetherspoons breakfast is only mildly worse than a Little Chef one and you can easily get one for under a tenner. Hot drinks are re-fillable too.
@@sartajparveen2001 they probably got bought out and were offered a lot of money to sell. That or the CEO got greedy and decided to take his millions out of the business and sell all of his restaurants for even more money. I'm pretty sure there's still a single one open somewhere in England. Places like Starbucks and McDonald's would have paid through the nose to have a branch on a busy motorway. The same thing happened with Thompson (a holiday company) the CEOs each paid themselves £20 million and shut the company down. If a company goes under, 80% of the time it's because of greedy business people
The waitress at a Little Chef accidentally bonked my brother over the head with a hot bowl of onion rings when we were kids. Thing is, we had gone out to eat to cheer him up because he'd been attacked by a stray cay the same day. He was, like, 5. It's the only thing I remember about Little Chef!
I'll add to the memory. The little square lollipops they had. I still remember them, and I'm not even in the UK any more. God. This hit me hard. Good video.
I miss Little Chef soooo much!! Every time I’d visit my family in Wales (I live there now) with my grandparents, we’d ALWAYS stop off at Little Chef on the way back home on the M4 and I’d get Ham, egg and chips or a burger every time and never forget to pick up my free lolly pop and balloon on my way out. I also loved colouring in and doing the puzzles on the kids menu. Little chef was a massive part of my childhood and I’ll forever miss it.
The missus worked at little chef way back when and says the only bit you got wrong was the smoked bacon - Little Chef bacon was never smoked! She also said the rest was spot on 👌
I was devastated when little chef closed down not because of the food, it was what you’d expect nothing mind blowing, but rather the fond memories being with my grandmother as a kid.
This isn’t a British take on American food though. This is literally a full English breakfast. Only the style of the restaurant was inspired by American diners.
A Little Chef breakfast was the first thing I ate when I moved here. They weren’t that nice but they did introduce me to the hangover joy that is the full English.
I used to go to a Little Chef restaurant when I was a kid. Not the same one mentioned in the video, but an independent restaurant in America that bears the same name. My mom used to take me out of school on my birthday, and take me there to get Belgian waffles. Completely unrelated, but I haven’t heard that name in years, and this video made me remember those birthdays fondly.
My memorabilia of Little Chef are a Granada Motorway Services jacket, as they owned LC until 2001 and my own official Fat Charlie stuffed toy from the I ❤ Charlie line.
remember going to visit family an hour away once, going to the little chef on one side of the motor way on the way there, and going to the little chef on the other side of the motor way on the way back (they couldn't have been more than 5-6 miles apart). i was maybe like 7 or 8 and it genuinely is one of those memories that is firmly planted in my brain. rip to the goat.
My parents never went to Little Chef. I told myself that later as an adult I would take myself to Little Chef. But I never needed to learn to drive, and now it's too late. RIP Little Chef, RIP what could have been.
Was talking to my brother about Little Chef a few days ago lol, he’s 27 and I’m 22, I don’t know how I just missed an entire restaurant chain but I fully thought he was just making it up, like I’d never heard of Little Chef before let alone been to one, even though he insists we’ve eaten there together on road trips before. When he brought it up I thought he was talking about Big Cook Little Cook lmao Strange
This dude is one of the few Cooking channels that has orginal content and isnt some chef cooking god knows what while a phonk song blasts in the background
I had grandparents I used to see in the summer 200 miles from where I lived and every year my parents would stop at either Little Chef or Happy Eater on the way. Fond memories!
Little chef is the only restaurant ive ever dine and dashed from. Spent 20 minutes trying to pay and nobody would take my money, after they got my entire order wrong and cold. The meal wasnt worth being free.
I remember when I was very young we went to see Monster Jam in Cardiff and I got this dish from Little Chef and it was one of the highlights of my trip
I miss little chef, only ever went once because would always see it on road trips and beg to go there, can't even remember what I had or how it was but I love the nostalgia
There was a little chef next door to the place we kept our caravan so we ate there on the way there and back, I will always remember the spag bol I ordered every time. Life was so simple and happy then... Shame its gone
I miss little chef, loved it when we would drive up the country to see family when I was younger, and we would stop halfway and have little chef meal lol. It's much better than Burger King and mcdonald's. BRING THEM BACK ❤
Their fried bread was outstanding. It all went downhill for them after they changed the relish in their 7th heaven burger from a creamy relish to a tomato relish.
Still devastated I never got to go to little chef we’d pass it on the motorway again and again stop at service stations with one but my parents would always say no with some “there’s only 3 more hours till we get there you can wait” I always thought I’d get to go as an adult but my little king is gone 😭
I remember a looong car journey with friends & we stopped at little chef around 9am for brekkie & one friend had a prawn cocktail before his full english 😂 great memories
