Hands down the most underrated singer in this genre of music. Truly gifted. For other singers, watching JR Richard sing is like taking a masterclass in how to sing with feeling.
Couldn't agree more. Damn, the 90's such an eclectic time for music. I was born in 1990. The deeper I dig in and discover more bands from back then the more I wish I was born in say, the 80's so I could've enjoyed the music from this precious decade a little more, specifically from 1990 to like 1995 but YES JR is certainly underrated
I called into a radio station and won tickets to their concert, and got to talk with JR. Their concert was at The Glass House in Riverside, CA, and I stood right in front. Awesome voice and such a gorgeous man!
"Pet your friends" was one of my favourites when I was 15/16. I learned playing bass-guitar and adored the smooth bass licks of Dishwalla's songs and got goosebumps because of the voice. Now, 20 years later I somehow rediscover the record and I'm glad it happened. Thanks for this huuuge piece of great music. Greetings from Germany.

esca floune Please. There was a lot of auto-tune, studio produced crap back in the 90's too. Tons of utterly stupid and repetitive "music" made the charts.
I can listen to this song over and over again it helps me whenever I start missing my soulmate who died 11 yrs ago it helps me not go insane. I love all of J R's music past and present. Your voice is from a angel ❤️❤️
Susan, I hear you. I lost mine in 2015. 2 weeks before Christmas. As time passes, it does NOT get easier, at least not for me, but music like this certainly helps ease the pain.
when i first heard of this band it was through my boyfriend michael atkins, he played the song "give" to me on his gutiar and it was so beautiful.he asked me to marry him at the end of this song and well he has died and i never got married or found anyone who could replace him . the band dishwalla will remind me of him until we once met again. RIP

Technology might have something to do with it and honestly, maybe today’s musicians just might not have it goin’ on talent-wise like 90’s musicians…😉 but that’s just my opinion.

When music was still music and talent was still appreciated. Nobody has even come close to J.R's vocal prowess. Dishwalla is sorely missed but the voice lives on!

I remember hearing Dishwalla for the first time while Pet Your Friends was was being mixed at Studio 4 in Philly late ‘94 or early ‘95 IIRC. The band was not there, just engineers and producers. I can’t remember the songs they played for me but I am pretty sure it was Give and The Feeder, what I remember most is they were keyboard heavy. I was in college at the time and the following Spring they played on campus opening for The Gin Blossoms or some other band. They rocked the place. So much in fact that my friends all wanted to leave after they were done, we all felt the main act could not follow theirs. J.R., your music stands the test of time. Long time fan here and who knows we may have crossed paths back when you were recording this album.

I also like the fact that you liked our use of keyboards... not many rock bands were using them at the time but I was writing most of the songs on keys and therefore put a lot of keys down. Dishwalla keyboardist Jim Wood would not join the band until after this record in order to fill in the keys spot live. This way I was able to be a proper front man guy :) Cheers! - JR
Still an awesome song in 2015 but somehow bittersweet for me personally. I guess some lyrics just hit home more than others.And the vocals...perfection.

Dishwalla will always remind me of my dad (who has passed now). He took me my first concert which was to see Dishwalla at the orange blossom festival many many years ago. And just recently I started listening to them again and they bring back such great memories of my dad.
the first time I heard this was on my sound system in my old TA and the way the base on this overwhelmed me is indescribable. Then you guys came to town not long after... there are times I cannot listen to it and must skip past. today is one of those days - but I have the cd... and yes my current sound system does it justice.
Dishwalla opened for Sheryl Crow in 1997 in Oakland, i'll never forget Charlie Brown's Parents guitar blowing the place down!! Been a fan since, thanks Dishwalla!!
I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it. Before I knew who sang it (radio days) I called it the sexy man voice song. It is still one of my favorite songs and has never left my play list.
Love this man's voice. It's so sexy and hypnotic he sings like a angel. As he gets older his voice stays comforting and still sexy just like the man. 2 thumbs up and a "oh yeah"
My favorite song by y’all! This brings back so many memories. Miss the 90’s! Back in the 90’s the band was at Tower Records on South St in Philly. I had some awesome friends that worked there and I had to leave that day y’all were there. My friend had y’all autograph my book and you tapped your guitar pick to it ❤️❤️❤️ I no longer have that book but what great memories. Thanks for the amazing music guys!
