3 years... 3 whole years my family went without a dishwasher. My parents are cheap and didn't want to hire anyone to come look at it but they never had time to see themselves. Well, I recently got into home improvements (finally fixed our toilet that's had a broken fill valve for longer and a few other things) and came across this video. This was exactly the problem, and my new, cheap gasket came in in 3 days. No leaks!!! You're literally a blessing.
Bro my family went eight years without a dishwasher 😭 honestly more like 30 since we didn’t use one in our old residence either. We just powered up a dishwasher a couple weeks ago. Phew
Just have to say this video saved me from going absolutely nuts after an hour of battle. Yours was the only one who described the under clip and how to tuck it up to insert it. God sent. Thank you! 😅
I've watched tons of DIY videos for all kids of repairs and projects and can honestly say that VERY few others explain and SHOW things as clearly as you do. Thanks!
You’re the man! I replaced the door gasket and added splash guards... and, of course, still a leak!?! 🤬🤬😡 Pulled this part out and it’s looking just like yours. Missing a big section out of the middle and it’s in rough shape all around. Ordering the part now so let’s all pray to the dishwasher gods to bless me with a dry floor when it arrives! Thanks for the clear and concise video man!
My pleasure I'll praying for you... Its pretty easy and a hell of alot cheaper than buying a new one or calling a service man out to look at it. Good luck and keep me posted
Buddy, I gotta say, I looked at a few different videos on this. Yours was the ONLY video that could show me where that doggon groove was. I spent too many minutes looking for it before I found this video. Thanks for it!
Wow, this part fell out and I put it back in and it was still leaking.. my gasket had disintegrated entirely, it was literally gone. I didn’t even know it was supposed to be there, thanks for this video, it was very helpful 🙏👍
Thank you very much, I have a Frigidaire dishwasher and I was having the exact same problem I ordered the new seal and replaced it and walla no more leak.
Thank you! And thank you for doing the test with the cover panel off. I was worried I may have put the bottom door gasket in wrong because there was water coming out of the hole in the middle, but seeing that yours did the same thing makes me think it is an intentional design of the dishwasher/gasket.
Good Idea to change out the door seal while you're at it because it isn't far behind. Also pull the lower wash arm out and support and clean off the gunk off both with a scotch brite pad and that arm will FLY like new! Cleaning the filters is really easy as well. Soak in Pinesol and dawn and brush both sides of screens. It gets nasty and it's a bacteria trap. Good video, to the point no blabbering! Keep up the good work. ;-)
@@MountaineerOutdoors Yes, it did but I noticed something. The first wash cycle I was getting a few drops on the floor. It was nothing as bad as before. Then I put it on a long wash cycle and it stopped completely. I guess the heat made it seal better.
Just did this replacement. I can see how taking the front panel off makes it a bit easier if you don’t know what your looking for. Every time I shut the door the gasket would pop out when I opened it. My front panel was 2 screws and the panel came right off. I was able to roughly slide the gasket into place and see from the outside that there is ANOTHER slot you must slide it into. You almost have to be pushing the gasket upward as your sliding it in so it catches the other slot where the lock tab was. Thanks.
This has been one of the worst nightmares of my life this gasket. I cannot get it to sit back in. A 10-dollar gasket is going to cost me over $150 to get a repairman and to put it in. This has been the worst nightmare that I've had in a very long time
@@MountaineerOutdoors I called technician to come to my house. My machine was also unbalanced. Can you put the splash guard back in and balanced my machine and it's okay now. What a nightmare
My model didn't have that seal (Amana) so I sprayed in a lot of Flex Seal which slowed the leak considerably. I'm going to spray some more this weekend to see if I can stop entirely
Was there actually anything wrong with the old seal? Was it just not set correctly? I'm in exactly the same boat. Remodel, reusing old dishwasher. Worked perfectly fine before, now leaks a tiny bit. The part is only like $10 on Amazon but still...
The problem on mine is there not part like that its the continuation of the door interior plastic with a small plastic part that is fold that make this.
Have you run with a more powerful cycle instead of a rinse cycle? I replaced with the same gasket and added the splash guards, but am getting leaks since the force of the water is splashing onto my electrical harness and going down to the floor.
This may be a shot in the dark here but I'm so confused. I bought the lower gasket for my correct model, went to install it, and the bevel goes the wrong way! I tried flipping it the upside down so the bevel would be facing down but it wont fit that way as the indent in the gasket is on the right, not the left. I am at a bit of a loss as to what to do.
@@MountaineerOutdoors That's the only thing I can think of as well. I'll try and order another one from another supplier and hope I get the correct part. Your tutorial was super easy to follow, though, so I appreciate it ❤
Did the second one work? My gasket came out of the door slot when I was cleaning it today and had no idea that little door slot existed until it made a mess and I watched this. But 100% my gasket faces the other way compared to this video, and that's from the factory. It will ONLY fit that way too.
Hello, We replaced this in our dishwasher but it still leaks. We have a frigidaire but dont know the model number. Can't find it and can't find the manual. DO you have any other suggestions?
Oh geez my hubby replaced this part and it was still leaking, a technician came and sakd replacement part must be bad because I see no reason for it not to work, we ordered another one, reinstall and still leaking 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
i know this is an old video, there are 2 short white gaskets on each bottom corner. you can see them in the video. those could be the problem also. i cant find them anywhere, if anyone knows let me know, thanks.
I replaced the tub gasket and door seal. Easy, but I'm having the hardest time reinstalling the front panel. Any advice? I see that the left side top groove is not straight just like the one you showed. Maybe I'm just tired.
The thumbnail shows the notch on the bottom of the seal on the left and on my dishwasher it’s on the right. It took me a while to figure it out. Be aware of that
I watched that part in particular at 3:26 and not sure where I said that at. The lip I was showing you is easily found once you take the door facing off.
@@MountaineerOutdoors I have the same issue- ordered a new bottom door seal but can’t get it to stay in place. In hour video you said you opened the door wiggled something back and forth. What were you wiggling?? Thanks!
I had the same problem with my gasket slipping out. The problem is the new gasket is too flimsy. My old had a former plastic that fit in without issues. The soft rubber on this new gasket is the biggest problem for it not staying in place of the groove it needs to fit into.
Frigidaire dish washers are crap. NEVER buy one. 2 of my family members (different states) each bought the same "affordable" dishwasher at Lowes. Both started leaking around the same time. I have worked on both - replaced gaskets, washers, rubber seals and they STILL leak. There's a white strip around the door with holes YES HOLES (I replaced to no avail!) where water was gushing out like a waterfall.
Wow yeah I can totally understand. We bought a new LG refrigerator and it crapped out on us on Thanksgiving day total let down. I totally understand your pain.
@@MountaineerOutdoors I did the bottom door seal thing but seeing the water in the channel had me thinking something was wrong. It does not spill over though so it's good? Like it's supposed to have water flowing into that channel?
@@MountaineerOutdoors door gasket is the black rubber trim that goes around the parameter between the door and the washer. Not only did he not tell us the name of the part but the link didn’t take us directly to it either. Feel bad complaining when someone did me a huge favor like this but come on. Got me this far why stop now.
Put mine back in, still leaked. Minutes away from throwing this 1 year old dishwasher and decided to check the drain pump in the center. Everything just pulled off. It was a bit dirty. I cleaned it out, and no more door leak. Hope this helps someone else. Update: Started leaking again within a few days. Looking around found the reviews for this model. Apparently a total piece of junk. $600+ in the garbage it went, less than a year old. Replaced it with a Maytag and not looking back.
