first time seeing this, haven't checked out your vids in awhile and the moment i heard this, all i could do was bob my head with a crazy smile on my face. haha.
yeah, i chop up manually. i like to use different parts of the record. it's more labor, but that's what's fun about it. i don't even know how to zone a sample and i've been on the mp since '01..haha! but yeah, i'ma put out some more vids soon. just hadn't had time.
not sure what the "new" style is, but this is from 2004. i like to think of myself as versatile. i have a lot of styles and try to showcase as much of them as i can on this channel. peace.
word. i'ma have to peep that. i originally made this around '01 or '02, but re-did it with the synths and reworked the drums in '04. i know a couple people used this sample tho. last i heard was EMC's "Let Me Grow".
EMC - U Let Me Grow, Amerie - Paint Me Over, Grand Puba - Reality Check, Cormega - Rapture, a few people used this joint. when i first made this beat in 2002 i knew heads were gonna rip this sample to pieces. no sample is original, but it's how you flip it that counts. this is a newer version i made in 2004 after i learned a few more tricks on the mp.
@ moonbased..samples. i took the sounds from the minimoogv sofware demo. it's regular 16 level layout. about tuning, i just got an ear for it, but a trick to make sure your samples are in tune (if you use turntables), is to sample with the pitch control on 0, - or + 8, 4 or 2. then set your tempo around the sample. that way you don't have to tune your bass or keyboard sounds. i didn't figure that out when i made this beat yet so i used my ears to tune em.
I listen to this at least once a day, That keyboard track reminds me of some old Keith Sweat joint. I have had my MPC1000 for two months now and hope to one day be as good as you. Thanks man. Just subscribed to your page and look forward to hearing more.
That's what I'm talking about. Finna buy my 1st sampler since my sp1200 back in the day. Gonna make original music with the mpc. Only sample records I made and niggas I knows records and musically come original. all these sample loop artists sound the same. Dope shit bro. Had to search for somebody doing original shit with a mpc.
nah, i originally made this beat in 2002 then re-did it in '04 with the synths. so i didn't get the name from emc. first guess was right. just look at the title.
@warhero23 Nah I had to go out of town. I was gonna open up djing for Dicap in case his Dj couldn't make it. Heard the show was live tho. VA stand up! small world yo.
yo this is the one i was going to ask for next. this is dope. I wish you would do the one for serigo mendes the slow hot wind or 1000 miles away( i think that's the name of it.) Dope Keep bang'n
yell no doubt man, i've been following your joints since doja raze( i think that is his name) and the lawn at halls of justus. You're really underrated as a producer/DJ. so by all means please do video request. LOLLOL And while your at it can you do the beat for "Little Help"!? I tried to redo that on the MPC just to see how you did it(a la fudge monk) but man that was some nice work there. keep bang'n
