Eric Frock she could still be considered an official Disney princess. Mulan isn't royal. And Pocahontas is the daughter of a chief. So Moana can still be a Disney princess, even if not technically a princess.

Eric Frock her father is a Chief so..... I think she has just as much right to be a princess as Pocahontas does

Eric Frock I've explained this in many places. Polynesian Chiefdoms hail straight from royalty. So even though as a Taupou she does not claim the title of "Princess," her claim to royal blood is no less true. There is no word for Taupou in English.
