I teared up while I was at Disney World because growing up, it seemed like such a far fetched idea that I'd ever actually be able to go. We couldn't afford much, didn't even do basic vacations so it just seemed so out of reach. Just a dream. As an adult, my husband and I made it happen and I'm not sorry that it was a little emotional for me.

We didn’t even have to see the castle, we simply walked in the gate and saw the flowers and I broke down and ugly cried 😩 I’m not even a crier, like I can literally count the number of times I’ve cried in my 40 years lol I think it was all bottled up 😭 people probably thought I was a lunatic

Good Lord. Okay. PSA that "Disney Rash" is a Heat Rash. Kay? That is a Heat Rash. Wear sunscreen, drink water, wear LOOSE clothing, and if you're prone change the clothing item that covers the rash frequently. So carry spares. Shower is COOL water and do NOT do ANY type of exfoliating. Aloe vera and/or a heavy duty moisturizer are great to apply AFTER cleaning the skin. Do NOT pop any blisters that may appear. Key take aways LOOSE and BREATHABLE clothing. *Edit* the rash I'm referring to is the one on her calves. Chafing and heat rashes can look very similar so where it is on the body can give some clues. Like the thighs and under arms are harder to tell the difference places. Calves it's usually gonna be heat rash. But you can get a heat rash anywhere you are wearing very restrictive clothing and sweating a lot.

I cried at the castle one time. First visit after the pandemic. Not sobbing but just stood there, looked at it and teared up a bit. A cast member came up beside me and we just stood together looking at it. Then he said, "It just makes you feel like things are going to be ok, doesn't it?" Adulting is so hard. I've noticed a lot of people I've spoken to who are into Disney have childhood trauma and/or mental illness, so it makes sense that they find comfort in children's movies and make believe. I enjoy kids films because they're "safe" -happy, not going to upset my anxiety, etc.

Yeah, things associated with children are looked down on, degraded, deemed inappropriate. 99% of the time for no logical reason at all. There's a difference between liking "immature" things and being an immature person. There's also a point to be made that there are two definitions of childish, one that includes immature qualities and one that distinctively does not. As well that the phrase child-like exists to define good traits an adult has that happen to be common in children as well. Yet many people exist in a world that being compared to a child in any way is an insult and they will use it as such. It's a not-so-covert way of signaling to others that you look down on children, in my opinion.

Sure some people are cringey with it and should learn to not be so immature, but otherwise where's the harm? It's not like you're stealing the joy from the children. It kind of harkens to the idea of how we think people should age and mature over time. Like oh you're 30 now so you can't do this and you can't wear that it's too young for you, no! Enjoy life in the way that makes you happy. People who criticize you for it are the ones with the issue and should not be allowed to control you.

3:07 The ‘Disney Rash’ is Cholinergic Urticaria. It’s a rash / hives that is triggered by exercise, heat, and rubbing. It’s more common in overweight people, I don’t know why but there’s probably a scientific article that explains why. I’m not overweight but I get it on my legs and forearms if I’m walking outside in the heat, even if it’s only for a few minutes. I have super sensitive skin, so even my cat booping his nose on my leg will cause a welt. I like to say I’m allergic to exercise lol

I’m 62 years old, and a big part of my childhood memories were wrapped up in Sunday evenings in front of the B&W TV with my siblings with a bowl of popcorn, watching “Wonderful World of Disney”. Another was going to the drive-in to see the Disney cartoons piled in the back of my dad’s station wagon in our pj’s… I’ve never been to Disneyland or Disney World, but my older sister did for the first time last year - SHE wept at the sight of the Disney Castle, and I wept with her when she told me the story…. Some people simply don’t “get it” like others do, I guess…

It made me misty-eyed because my husband (60), who is a little older than me, has the same fond memories of WWoD on their B&W tv, all his siblings, and pancakes for dinner made by his dad every Sunday as a tradition. We're still very lucky to have his Dad around, and DH and I kept up at least one Sunday night a month of pancakes and a Disney movie. History bounding, which is what I do, owes a huge debt of gratitude to Disney bounding, because it essentially came out of what Disney bounding people do. Both Disney bounding and History bounding is an attempt to evoke either a particular character or a particular era of history, mostly using modern pieces of clothing, and how full on or accurate you want to go is up to you. If it wasn't for seeing people Disney bounding, I might never heard of the concept of History bounding, and missed out on getting involved in something that I find a lot of fun.

I didn’t cry when I saw the castle at Disneyland Paris, but I was pretty emotional at the fireworks show. I felt nostalgia in full force because, as a kid, it wasn’t even feasible for me to go to Disneyland, much less Disneyland in Paris. We immigrated to Germany from Nigeria. Granted, we had been to the local fair before, but we always had a very, very strict budget. We were allowed one and a snack that everybody would share. So, realising this dream by myself at age 24/25 with a really good friend made me feel all the emotions. I wasn’t a Disney adult before my trip but classify myself as a Disney adult level 1.5 now.

I have a feeling that it's often very young adults, around 18-25 who don't understand a lot of things. Because that's the time of your life when a lot of changes happen to most people. It's only after they actually grow up and get the first hand experience of that "wow, I'm almost 30 now and I still don't feel any different" when they understand that you can actually enjoy things freely and not mind that much what others might think about it. As long as you're not hurting anyone, cherish your inner child. It honestly brings so much joy in life. There seriously aren't that many things I could think of that would be exclusive to children only. The child in you doesn't disappear anywhere as you grow up, you just learned to take care of your self, take responsibility, function in a society, but at your core, you're still you.

I used to be VERY insecure in my late teens/early 20s (to the point of an existential crisis) just because I never really felt like a “proper” adult beyond the basic stuff. After hitting my mid/late 20s, I’m now in the process of actually deconstructing the societal notions of “proper adulthood.” It’s increasingly apparent that these so-called “proper adults” are the truly immature ones who’re so afraid of being their authentic selves. Not much different than the repressed children who try so hard to fit in.
@lyrajaded

My biggest issue with Disney adults is that disney is a monopoly that encourages hyper consumption among their fans. “You need this outfit, this limited edition item, this vacation package with extra features, etc.” I’m far more bothered by the fact that it is billion dollar, morally bankrupt corporation taking advantage of artists and people’s nostalgia and who could care less if you died on their property, than people just wanting to enjoy themselves. But at the end of the day, people are free to do what they want. I’m not immune to the joy of nostalgia. And if I know someone who really loves Disney, I bite my tongue, because I don’t want to dampen their joy (unless it come up in conversation). Shame the company, not the people
@Fuffydud
@Fuffydud Месяц назад
The way I separate the consumerism from the joy is this: The staff at the parks, the ride operators, the imagineers who come up with beautiful ideas, the builders who construct elaborate and reliable machinery, are all there out of love and passion for their work and the opportunity to bring others a sense of wonder. The company isn't its employees. And the things that people genuinely enjoy about the parks aren't the corporate parts, it's the human connections and the art.

As I understand it they've been trained for it especially Mickey as it's quite common. Sometimes it's a nostalgia thing, a link to childhood, the joy of what life was like, reliving Disney memories, an escape from the real world, which can be hard, a dream realised, links to lost relatives (why I sometimes tear up during the fireworks), and on the really sad side it's some kind of trauma/childhood issue. I listened to one person who absolutely broke down with Mickey and apparently she'd been SA'd as a child and all that gave her comfort was a toy Mickey Mouse. When she met 'Mickey' she unexpectedly broke down and Mickey just held her. Heartbreaking. 💔

I can talk about Disney non stop there and no one will stop me or change the subject. It’s the one place I feel safe. And I know this can be the case for a lot of people. No ones bats an eye at ComicCon and other similar events. Which reminds me of the time I went to a local Comic and SF convention years ago dressed as danaerys Targaryen. I had made 3 dragons out of chain maille, which I was insanely proud of. All day people who had dressed up were having others come up and ask to take pictures, and most happily did. Then 2 little boys came up to me and asked me if they could take a photo with me, to which their mum kind of side eyed and asked them if they knew who I was dressed up as (they were only about 7 or 8, way too young to be watching GoT). My Mum and stepdad moved from the UK to Texas in the 1980s. I stayed here, got married and had my first child. We would go over to visit. When my son was turning five, they arranged a surprise trip to DisneyLand. As we were going through the gates at Disney, I remembered that every time my son had seen a character costumed person back home, he'd been scared and burst into tears. I quickly bent down and whispered to him that the characters he is going to see inside the park are only people wearing furry suits. "They are not real". You don't need to be afraid of them. "They're not real". When we were inside he was fine but I found Mum and myself, pointing out the characters and waving to them as we called out their names. I think I was mentally an 8 year old when I was there. Cringey? Maybe but we all had a fabulous day out. Mickey came down from the float to form a conga line in the parade, he pulled my son and (I pushed my Mum) to dance in the parade to Conga by Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine. I also remember getting headbutted in the shin by tiny goats.

Got a few things to say, since this video made me really happy for some reason! 1: I replayed the Rapunzel scene five times & was a little teared up, that was so sweet! 2: I've heard that it's a tough place to work though, not a whole lot of pay or employment rights, but that's also a general issue in the U.S., from what I gather? That does worry me a little... 3: I haven't been on a proper holiday for maybe two decades, I desperately want to break that streak with a trip to somewhere spectacular, like Disneyland! I wanted to do something nice for my 40th but lockdown screwed that up 😭 So I'm going to make certain that my 50th is something _special..._ 4: If I'm going to Disneyland it'll cost a fortune so I'm gonna go ALL IN. I don't care what anyone else thinks - I'm gonna dress up, do the Disney-bound thingy, get glitter in all the cracks - whatever people do there, I'm damn well going to get my money's worth! I'M GONNA DO IT ALL! I should also probably start saving up now 😅 I don't have any friends who'd want to go to Disneyland, but then again that'd mean I can do whatever I want when I get there, right?

Emo being talked about like the anger phase of teens is telling. If you can't stand people expressing themselves or showing any kind of uniqueness just say so and move to the woods without electricity and tiktok.

I didn’t know that “breaking a hug” rule existed. Leave it to social media to exploit it😢
@jamie1602
@jamie1602 Месяц назад
It's a soft rule and not official. The idea is that you don't know how that person's day was or what they're going home to when the trip ends. Don't exploit it. Don't ever. Exploit it. Please. It comes from an interview from someone who was "friends with Snow White". If you know, you know. She gave a lot of insight on what her job was like and how she personally handled things. Her belief was to never be the first one to let go. So it's not really a rule. It's a choice. Don't abuse it. But if you REALLY needed that hug to be a little longer and you're an adult? Don't feel ashamed that it's there. But don't abuse it if you didn't really need that.

I live in florida, i have an annual pass. I go to Disney world every 3-4 months. Ive never missed a Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (except 2020 😡) I'm an adult with no children and i go to eat and drink 🤣 I hate roller coasters, they terrify me. Albeit i do ride the "game" rides - toy story mania, buzz lightyear and the "viewing" rides - pirates of the Caribbean, Small world but very seldom ride any rides when i go. I spend most of my time in Epcot eating around the world and drinking all weekend and i absolutely love it!

The Disney Rash happens to all kinds of people, but mostly those overweight (guilty as charged on that). Its probably a combination of things. My theory is that alot of the guests come from the colder a drier part of US (East Coast and Midwest) so their bodies aren't ready for the heat curtain that is Orlando.

So… I have a Disneyland pass. We go at least once a month. Going to Disneyland for Foodie experiences is totally normal. These people just hate fun lol. We don’t go on ride most of the time lol. But like, if we want to do that for fun what’s wrong with that. Maybe we go on one ride… or watch a parade or whatever. We don’t cry. We don’t do anything crazy. My sister and I used to work there. Meh people can f-off really. Why can’t people have fun?

It's so messed up that that PSA about heat rash was shared to Rob as "Disney adult cringe". What's so cringeworthy about it? The fact that the women in the video are fat? That they're having a reaction that can happen to anyone under the heat regardless of size? While I can't deny that cringe as a concept kind of piques my bile interest, cringe as a culture is definitely just a weird form of social shaming. Back during the heyday of cringe culture, it wasn't uncommon to see "cringe comp" videos of people that were just... existing. Their behavior wasn't socially unacceptable or even just embarrassing, they were literally just doing something mundane, and the object of "cringe" was qualities about them that weren't their character, such as their gender, race, disabilities, and in cases like this, body type.

Disney rash... That is lower extremity edema...fluid and blood are not able to circulate back up to the heart. That is why it resolves by laying down and elevating the legs. Compression hose help remedy this...

People need to realize that a lot of kids only dreamt of going to Disneyland and never got to because they lived in low income houses. Disney adults can FINALLY afford to make that dream come true. Just let people be happy.

Please go to an urgent care clinic if you get a red rash like that on your leg. It could turn out to be a blood clot or cellulitis. Last week I noticed a neon red rash just like that on my leg. It was hot to the touch, very tender, badly swollen, and after 12 hours I noticed it starting to blister a bit. The Dr. there referred me to the hospital so they could use ultra sound to rule out a blood clot. Turns out I have Cellulitis, a bacterial infection of the subdermal skin layers, and had to be admitted to hospital for several days while I received round the clock IV antibiotics. I only just got discharged and still have to take a 10 day course of oral antibiotics to kill off the infection. I'm lucky that I caught it early; my nurse said most people with Cellulitis don't seek help until the blisters have grown so large that they've burst from the pressure. If left untreated, the infection can spread to your bloodstream, causing sepsis, which is life-threatening. Please be safe rather than sorry!

I understand that adults are not allowed to wear "proper" costumes so that children don't confuse them with the actual characters and go to them, when they're not Disney reps. Like a safeguarding thing. I think Disneybounding is such a nice homage and brings out people's creativity

I'm so over ANYONE being shamed for ANYTHING they do that makes them happy. As long as it's not hurting anyone, it should be celebrated. Hobbies are healthy and a sign of good mental health. No one should be embarrassed to love something.

I’ve heard heavy-set Americans also call the “Disney rash” the “Europe rash” or “Paris/london rash” (or whatever city they are in). It’s exercise induced, more likely with heavier builds, and with people who don’t exercise. If walking 5 miles in a day is seen as exercise and not something you would normally do then it will be a shock to the body. Maybe Disney is the only place those ladies walk about and that’s the only time they see the rash?

Thanks for making a video that isn’t just about trashing Disney adults. Obviously there are people that take it a bit too far, but as a whole I think it’s fun. I have a bookshelf of Disney books and a Disney ears hat. I’ve been to Disney World twice and Disney Land once. And I grew up with almost every Disney film on VHS. Honestly though I was more of a Harry Potter adult (of course now I won’t purchase Potter stuff because the author lost her freaking mind and ruined her legacy). I still love my fandoms like Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Barbie, and more so my enthusiasm goes beyond just Disney. I just think it’s fun to like what you like and embrace it. I get tired of people judging it just because you’re an adult. As I said, some people go a little too overboard but mostly it’s just fun.

As long as you're just having a good time and not being a jerk/hurting anyone, then go for it! Life's too short. The video of the girl meeting Donald duck was cute. People can be so hateful for no reason.
