Disney Alaskan Cruise - What To Know Before You Go 

Thanks for this! Ive sailed on Carnival and Royal Carib and Disney is the only cruise line that I found booking excursions to be stressful. There is an open period for longtime Disney members and by the time it opened for general public, many popular ones were already sold out.

yeah they do have delayed cruises in other places. we went on a 7 night cruise out of san diego and left a couple hours late. I was actually happy we left late as we got to see san diego at night and get the most beautiful pictures of downtown san diego

Mid summer, SE Alaska gets dark at 11pm and light again around 2am. Mid winter we get dark around 4:30pm and light again around 9:30am. These are the extremes, depends on what time of year you go, April/May is going to be different than July/Aug. Do your research of ports, don't get caught in tourist traps near the ship/downtown areas. Keep to the sidewalks downtown and do NOT stand in the road to take pictures or diddle dally when crossing. Taking the local bus is a lot cheaper, but locals get annoyed when the bus is clogged up (especially with luggage) when they have jobs/appointments to get to. Unfortunately with the time constraints you have by taking a cruise, you will not get to see most of SE AK's best areas because you don't have time to really explore the towns or trails. Most locally owned places are not going to be downtown near the ship. What we have is an infestation of greedy people from out of state that only come during cruise season, take up valuable space, hire people from the lower 48, and reap the profit to take back home instead of into the community.

Also if you plan on doing photography I recommend either the Canon rebel t7 or rebel t8 The t7 is the older model but it comes with a lens kit and it's still a very reliable camera and also a little cheaper.
