Disney Dreamlight Valley. Is Premium Shop Overpriced? How Much Moonstones Do We Actually Need? 

Well those who have been playing for a long time honestly have a advantage here.. because most have already bought most of the older items there comes in the premium shop so they/we don’t buy items every week so we are saving moonstones for the other new items ❤️ But for newer players🌕🗿💸 (moon-stone- fly away 😂) 😭

I don’t feel entitled to get everything in the premium shop for free. If I can get 1 or 2 things I’m happy. That’s stuff I didn’t have before and it cost me nothing. There are repeats and some things I know I’ll never use. Great video! I enjoy these deep dives! ❤

I’d like more ways to earn moonstones preferably. If not, they need to drop the cost of moonstones, or the price of premium items considerably imo. I think it’s cheeky considering the game didn’t go free to play anyway. But if they want players regularly topping up, they need to charge a LOT less. $50 for 14500 (literally only 4ish house skins) is ridiculous.

Searching for the blue chests everyday has become a hated “task”. I’m so tired of it. What’s worst is when you’ve looked at every biome and can’t find the darn thing and have to start over. I also hate that the next blue chest doesn’t spawn immediately after you’ve picked up the current chest (when you haven’t checked in a few days).

Although I always love new items in the premium shop, I don’t mind repeated items weekly in order to help save your moonstones for future purchases. Since I know it can get depleted quickly with new items weekly.

This video has been wildly comforting for me and I’m not even halfway 🤔 I don’t feel the need to buy every single thing in the premium shop, just items I like, so I already feel like it’s definitely possible for ME personally to stay free to play easily

Thanks for doing the math. That’s disappointing. I’ll just prioritize Star Path and maybe 1 item a week from Premium Shop. Just not spending any more RL money on the game outside of expansions

I am a bit suprised too but then again not everyone would want every item and we also have returning items too. I still think it's more fair then most other games and I love these types of videos

Agreed 1500 moonstones per week should be enough for all items that week in the premium shop.

Unfortunately for those of us who don't ever get 4000 it is still expensive out of pocket. Based on the info they share on the dreamsnaps for the 5%ers who get 4000 look how large the folks are that get substantially less than than the 2000... not everyone can make ya'lls amazing pictures for 4000...

Still love the game, just don't have the moonstones to get all the premium stuff but I just have to pick up the stuff I really really want and then "save" for more... just like real life

I think DLV is very generous by giving us the Dreamsnaps rewards and it's something most games wouldn't have done. The thing I find confusing is that they are willing to give out hundreds of thousands of moonstones out for free weekly, but they don't want to lower the cost of moonstones in real life money. I feel like they'd make way more money if it was cheaper. I don't score the best on Dreamsnaps, but I make enough to buy a good amount of things I want without spending money. That being said, if moonstones were better priced, I'd have no problem spending more real life money on things I really want.

Great video!! I agree, there are people who want to collect every item, but luckily I'm not one of them anymore. I just buy the items i really, really want now. In a typical shop, I leave 1-2 items so even though I get 4K moonstones half the time, I'm saving up for when the old star path items start hitting the store!! 💕

This game is definitely worth it, I've been an obsessed simmer since sims2 and I'm still obsessed with it, but this game is the first game to ever beat sims as my favorite

But, really none of the premium shop items impact your progression in the game. So I still wouldn't consider it "pay to win". Great video, thank you!

I don't mind the moonstone amounts, they give us the chance to get enough to get a few items we want , and if you have FOMO and want EVERYTHING then you have to buy them , but this is life .

Thing is, new items are trickled into the Premium Shop over a 6-9 week period or more.(between updates). Half of the items each week are repeats So I'd say you'd have to factor in time, and interests of player before you get a correct calculation. I think it depends on each individual player and that still is just guess work.

I am just happy they came up with dreamsnaps and you don't have to spend actual money to get nice items to add to your game - I just wish I would of bought some of the items in the beginning - and the developers have been nice about compensating us when there have been issues -- this has been onr of my favorite games - Mr Star thank you for the math --

Since I bought the expansion pack I haven't found one moonstone chest

It was a pretty good balance with premium shop price and what we can earn in moonstones before they announced that the game would no longer be free to play. I think that the price could drop a little now that we have to pay for the game and dlcs. In saying this i have about 30000 moonstones without using real money to get any and on average i get about half the items in the premium shop because i don't usually get outfits. I also haven't bought the 4000 moonstone bundles yet but i plan to get ursulas eventually

Out of the last 12 Dreamsnaps weeks I got 11x4000 and 1x2500 Moonstones. My premium items are completely covered without spending any money.

For me, i don't like every prenium item and i do ok during the dream snap and i never had too little moonstone to buy want i want😊 (i never bought moonstone with real money)

I tend to just look at the weekly shop and add the costs up, subtract my current moonstones and see how much I need to buy from that 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think the prices are right. You don't have to buy those items.... and there are many games where you have to pay a lot more and get less (like Diablo IV)

In my case...I always end up only being able to afford the house skins ( sometimes extra if I can drop the money) I just think they should lower the prices of the items in the shop.

I don’t think it is overpriced. Considering you can pick what you really want the amount dreamsnaps gives me is usually enough to get me the one item I don’t want to miss out on. Most items get repeated so the ones I am on the fence on will return at some point.

i think it's quite fair, you can't expect to get all paid content for free devs need to make money to keep updating and maintaining the game

The star path i feel should at the very least give us back all the moonstones we spent on it. Every single game that has a battle pass type of thing has a way to earn all that currency back except this game.

I don’t feel like it can be pay to win because it’s not a competitive game. I also wish we could buy just the amount we need instead of having to buy packs.

Honestly I’m happy with the game and the amount of content we’ve been able to get for the price. I’ve played so many other games that were much more expensive for the amount of content. With most other games that I’ve played with micro transactions I was never even able to get the premium items because it was made so difficult to do without spending real money.

I think the prices are fair. I earn a lot of moonstones from dreamsnaps, but even before dreamsnaps i saved my moonstones and would only buy something in the premium shop if I felt like I absolutely needed it. Most things don't catch my eye anyway, so it was easy for me to save them instead. Now with the addition of dreamsnaps, i always have enough moonstones to purchase whatever I want. if there's a case where I feel like I'm running out of moonstones, I just wont buy the item I want and just save up until next time it comes to the premium shop and by then I know for sure I'll have enough moonstones to buy it. I did that with mike and sully's house. I really wanted it but didn't have the moonstones at the time but the next time I did. because of this I feel the system is very fair and allows players the opportunity to earn them, even if not right away.

I think it's pretty balanced with dreamsnaps. I don't buy everything (especially tool sets since I cant use them in dreamsnaps) but I can get a lot of the premium items without real money cost

I love the stat videos if you put in an effort and dream snaps and collect your 700 free moonstones every week I think they’re more than fair with what they give us maybe lower the price a little bit in the premium shop but overall compared to other games, they give us plenty of opportunities to earn free moonstones

I think the prices are fair I play lifeafer and thier premium items are way more than this game. Like am talking about just to get one new outfit is $29.00.

i said that dreamsnaps wouldnt be enough from the beginning and not worth it i have played since testing so from very beginning and i havnt bought much i save the moonstones for the premium star path.

The premium shop items are way too overpriced. I have only “purchased” one item, the Nightmare Before Christmas tool set. But I didn’t really purchase it because I used the moonstones I got from the Dreamsnaps. I refuse to purchase moonstones. I’m just hoarding mine for the Star Path and potentially house skins if they bring back ones I’m interested in.

It's not really 5% of players can get everything for free. Because it implies winning 4k every single week to be in the 5%. And it's probably not 5% of players. I don't know if I'm clear. Personnaly, I found usually weird to have micro transactions in a paid game BUT I have to be honest DDV offers multiples ways to earn moonstones, and potentially a lot (I also think it's one of the reason they didn't go F2P because maybe people were buying ms before and after Dreamsnaps they didn't needed to) so I think it's fair. It's only cosmetics so not breaking game, and we have a real chance here. But I will also say, I do think certain items in the premium shop are overpriced. Not all of them but some are. I think the balance isn't always there 🤷

I don't think its too bad personally, like I do get not everyone can earn a ton every week but also it is a "premium" shop so i dont think its intended to be able to get everything every single week. I think since we do get alot of free moonstones it is relatively fair, I dont always get everything but thats ok and they do come back around as well so I just pick what I want most and hope to be able to get more later. I will also say even though we have micro transactions I have spent significantly less on this game even with purchasing the base game and dlc, plus a small moonstoon pack once before dreamsnaps than my spouse has spent on an actual "free to play" game 🤣

Sins the game come out and I brought the DCL I can never find the blue chests. Also was the DLC advertise as coming in parts! Will I have to pay £30 for each part. My shop never has any clothes but yet there are new clothes in the star paths. I do feel as it was designed for free it’s lacking for a paid game.

How did you figure out the moonstones per ranking for dreamsnaps? managed to get 4k for the Monster-sona challenge which was the best I've gotten. Didn't realize it gave 300 as a base. Edit: I now wish I had taken a screenshot of what the photo was.

I'm gonna have to skip this week's dream snap since I just started and done have the items for the Snap background.

I didn't think to check but did moonstones go on sale at all over Black Friday? I think that would be a pretty cool of them to do. At least we could get some lower prices once a year for ourselves or to gift for the Holidays somehow.

not just people who have played longer, mrstarinsky you yourself and some others do time skipping for scrooges shop. so you guys have most if not all the store items to decorate with for dreamsnaps which gives you an advantage. i think time skipping is really dishonest way of playing the game when there are competitions for decorating that reward ingame $ currency.

It's not bad considering I used to play assassin's creed odyssey and wanted this Pegasus skin so badly but the minimum Helios tokens you get are just 200 under what it costs in their premium shop. It costs £2 to buy 300 Helios tokens so I can get the skin for just this amount although there's an alternative. You can do quests and get daily and weekly ore so you can exchange it for a chance of a rare item skin from the entire premium shop. You don't need it but it can make you feel good riding on a fire horse or a horse with wings. Even though you already paid for the game there's always an option to buy items. It's nowhere near as cheap (AC:O) and rewarding as dreamsnaps so I think the GL developers can always earn some more money for their effort and talent

Man....let's talk about Fortnite skins and then the DDV premium shop isn't so bad, LOL.
