Originally Aired on the Disney Channel October 1985 (#17 in The Series of 20 Disney Family Albums)
One of Walt’s Nine Old Men, Marc Davis was revered for his knowledge and understanding of visual aesthetics. He was responsible for many classic Disney characters including Snow White, Bambi, Brer Rabbit, Fox and Bear, Mr. Toad, Cinderella, Alice, Tinkerbell, and Cruella de Vil. After 101 Dalmatians in 1961, Marc Davis was recruited by Walt to become one of the original members of WED Enterprise, as one of the original Imagineers. Marc was heavily involved in the development of all the 1964-65 World’s Fair attractions: From the dinosaurs in Ford’s Magic Skyway to the family in Carousel of Progress, children of the world in Small World, and creating the “illusion” that Abraham Lincoln could stand up. After the World’s Fair, Marc followed the attractions back to Disneyland where he noted that none of the existing attractions included humor. He worked on the “re-do” of the Jungle Cruise that included the introduction of humor. Marc went on to heavily influence Tiki Room, The Country Bears, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, It’s a Small World and The Carousel of Progress. Marc became the go-to Imagineer of the late 1960s and ’70s. Marc retired in 1978 and received the Disney Legend Award in 1989.

Marc Davis was a lean, mean animating machine. 😂! He was well-known for the gags and plenty of humor that he had in mind for Disneyland, especially plenty of the dark rides. It's such a shame that he died. R.I.P. Marc Davis, we'll miss you and your funny animation, too. 👍🏻 if you agree!

Why is it such a shame that he died? Was it a lingering death, an illness? All I know is he died at age 86 in 2000.

I didn’t know these were here. I worked for the company that produced these, and actually wrote a few of the episodes myself, including this one. What a blessing to see it again. Thanks for sharing!

The fact that Walt Disney directed his company to create several different anti Nazi cartoons, at the command of the American film producers is why I don’t understand how people nowadays say he was anti Semitic and other such rumors.

Not only that, throughout his career Walt Disney hired Jewish animators like Art Babbitt, Joe Grant and composers like the Sherman Brothers, and in 1957 he hired Floyd Norman, Disney company's first black animator. What kind of anti Semitic or racist would do something like that between 1930s and 1960s? I don't know ... I really think that some people are very interested in slandering the figure of Walt Disney, either out of financial interest, or simply out of envy.

I’m not aware of a Disney family album featuring Rolly. There were 20 in the series. Do you have any other details?
