im not calling you a sociopath for clarifying in your sentence, either. im sure the clarification comes from having sociopaths misunderstand you before.
I remember the days when toy stores would devote an entire aisle for Star Wars, and they all sold like hot cakes. Before the dark times. Before Disney.
@@jamisoncowling2094 Hon, it's okay to like Disney, but reality exists, too. I won't tell you to stop collecting whatever you love, but there's no sense in denying that there are certain toys of various brands that simply are not selling -- at least not at full retail price. Maybe at a clearance rate some will sell, but it's okay to see what's on a store shelf for what it is. Even stuff that I like is sometimes not what everyone else wants, but that doesn't mean I'm a terrible person for liking it; I understand that some things I collect are super niche.
@@NatYourAverageNerd There are things that are super niche that people collect and when I say that Disney toys don’t go there to die is because in my home state on the west coast we don’t have Ollie’s so Disney, Star Wars and Marvel toys merchandise don’t go there and I have worked at three different stores in my area including one thrift store and I know we were not getting Disney merchandise at that thrift store and at the other two stores I honestly don’t know what happens to the unsold merchandise from Disney though I am pretty certain it is not going to the landfill because there are a lot of people on the west coast that would be upset if any unsold merchandise went straight to the landfill because of its harm to the environment
Man, oh, man. Seeing all these SW toys NOT get sold is what brought me to this channel in the first place, and it still doesn’t get old even after so many years have passed. Keep doing what you’re doing, Jeffé! P.S. Ollie’s is also a great place to pick up junk food, I’ve found.
@@crazyralph6386 It is nobody business who you vote for though yes whoever gets elected in office in November will definitely dictate how the infrastructure and inflation goes for the next four years when it comes in regards to the toy market

It's been SEVEN YEARS. I bet Ollie's CEO is as buddy-buddy with Kathleen Kennedy as Bob Iger is. (Insert tasteless joke about Marvel Comics' EPIC FAILed attempt to push the idea Wolverine is bisexual and simultaneously in love with Jean Gray AND Cyclops, when he felt violent jealousy he wouldn't have felt if he was also attracted to Cyclops.)
Disney has turned both Star Wars & Marvel into girl's brands. But for some reason still expect Men & Boys to buy their lame products. Rey, Holdo, Reva, Jyn Erso, Dora Milaje, Shuri, Ironheart. I don't know any female Star Wars or Marvel fans who are invested in these characters. The corporate executives at Disney sat back and felt smug about their ability to force these characters to the forefront of brands that Men have built up, but it's a failing business and marketing strategy. Right now Disney / Lucasfilm are spam posting 1,000 social media posts promoting The Acolyte characters, yet nobody is interested in that. The ROI for this agenda is insane.
Exactly. Darth Vader will always sell, a character created in the 70's. Fuckin general grevious sells a Lot. No one wants that trash no matter how much they think we do
@@osets2117 I like Jyn Erso. She's a great character with real growth and development. But she's still a bland, generic female character relatively indistinguishable from the other brunette British women in Star Wars. From a character design standpoint she's no different than Qi'ra in the Solo movie. Generic female character template #1
Jyn is a good character but she was created before Hollywood went into a full w0ke mode. I would leave her out of your list and add Bo-Tox-Karen, Sidekick, Dangerhair Wren and everyone from the Wokelyte instead.
I’m convinced Disney only has money because of the way they were grandfathered into all the stock portfolios and mutual funds and 401k portfolios of the big stock brokers so the average person with a job and 401k or mutual fund unknowingly is funding Disney to destroy everything because they are giving Disney money in the form of stocks
They just move the older stuff to every new Ollie's that opens up and the cycle keeps repeating. Eventually the stuff ends up back at it's original location.

They won’t be on the shelves after Christmas because the fact is Star Wars is in the top ten selling toy brand in America this year and last year according to the Toy Book magazine which is the official source on toy sales in America
I can't wait to see the looks of joy when I give my grandsons the lesbian space witches action figures ( with vibrating light sabers and Jedi scissoring powers ) . Merry Christmas kids !
There are kids who are part of the LGBT community that would want the toys of characters that represent them in the movies. I know that for a fact because I like it when autism is represented in movies and shows and I buy toys that are representing autism in movies and shows
@jamisoncowling2094 Since when does sexual orientation need to be represented in "children's toys"?! Kids don't need to be exposed to sexuality fullstop, let them be kids.

Here's a fact that most people don't know. Most plastic CANNOT be recycled. You can recycle all you want, but most of your plastic goes into landfills.
My advice to Disney would be to sell them to the govt as toys to be given to African kids as humanitarian aid. That's what corporations usually do with leftover stuff they can't sell, they can quite often get some money back on their losses by having their senator send some taxpayer money their way . International aid is the biggest slush fund there is
you think Disney would have learned the first time, when all the Force awakens and two other movies, had the merch sit on the shelf until it hit clearance bin prices. and was STILL slow to move. people do not want to be lectured. they want to be entertained. dont understand why they struggle with this concept.
@@jamisoncowling2094 agree to disagree with that counter. but thats the wonderful thing about the world. people CAN have a different opinion, on what is entertainment. considering the Acolyte, I am inclined to believe my perspective is leaning more towards the majority. but if you like things, by all means enjoy the content. I've been witness to this for quite a while in Mexico City, stores literally don't stock new Star Wars toys anymore because they're still trying to sell the five year-old shit. Meanwhile they constantly renew the Mario and Pokemon stuff because it legit flies off the shelves.
Many of these will end up being donated to non-profits and end up under the tree of poor kids with parents either strung out or in jail. Nice gesture. Unfortunately, they'll end up bruised and battered in the street after being thrown at passing cars. Ah, the sad life of a modern action figure.
Star Wars had been in continuous production since 1994 without a single day that didn't have SW merch and toys in stores since then. Even IF the new stuff was any good, that still doesn't stop customer burn-out. There's just too much of it now, there's no collectibility to any of it, and it's just not fun any more.
They used to be fun now prices have increased here in 🇨🇦 a 3 3/4 fig is like 25-27$ black series are 40 and more same with Transformers and Gi joe. Plus add the poor distribution in stores and some scalpers you have the receipe to quit. Thats why I collect old toys gi joe Transformers Masters of the universe Star wars (1978-2012) And recently since its harder to find interesting toys I turned to LEGO I always had Lego and its easy to get no scalpers no poor distribution in stores no hassle or worries.

I remember the Kenner lineup for the original Star Wars, now known as "A New Hope." Stores could not keep those figures on the shelf. One of the most popular model kits to get your hands on and assemble was the AMT R2-D2. It was small wonder that Lucas made a fortune. They couldn't make the toys and model kits fast enough for the market. Now they cannot get rid of Star Wars toys even at bargain basement prices. This is the true indicator of how trash "modern" Star Wars is. If the general public liked it, they would be buying the toys. But the don't, so the toys simply languish on shelves and hooks at Ollies.

The main group of Star Wars collectors has reached the age where they aren't collecting anymore. If they do buy something they're more selective or they're buying it for their kids.
The dramatic increase in regular retail prices for these figures when they are new is another contributing factor to the decline in sales among collectors. I use to pre-order an entire box of TVC Star Wars figures for each new wave that came out, but now I buy only one or two figures I really want from each new figure wave.
"What will it take to bring one of these figures home?" Well, If Target or Walmart paid me to take them off their hands... I could toss them in the wood chipper or something.
I only bought the Earth 2 Superman figure from Target that he showed in this video because it comes with a collectible card and Power Girl comic, but you're right Target would make more sales in profits in figure sales if they sold sexy or badass figures.
WCB- please be careful in those stores- with the new "acolyte" action figures coming in next you might be buried alive in a 45 foot pile of unsold disney crap!
George Santayana put it best: Americans love their junk. It's not the junk that bothers me, it's the love. What bothers me further is the junk that goes UNLOVED. The junk that winds up at Ollie's, the island of misfit toys. I tend to anthropomorphize things. This especially goes for toys. When I see the Holdos and Revas and now-unpopular Grogu knick-knacks, I almost feel sorry for them. Almost.
Doing that Dungeons and Dragons line from the 80s cartoon was a fantastic idea and a 40-year dream come true. It's such a damn shame that they came in blind boxes and the toys themselves were such low-quality pieces of crap.
