Taking into account that Pixar's portrait of the tradition of the Day of the Dead is a faithful and accurate copy of what we do in Mexico, for us the film is doubly incredible. Greetings, and good comments!!
Coco was a great movie! I loved the music in the movie. I thought Olaf's Frozen Adventure was cute, but a little long. I heard that The Black Cauldron was extremely dark and just an ok movie.
I loved this movie and see it as flawless. For example I felt that all of the characters had purpose for doing what they did. Also the twist with the villain didn’t really bother me. Like how you brought it up If anything it made me hate him even more and I felt that what he did would be something that could happen in real life. The animation was beautiful, the songs were great, the characters were fleshed out, the story was great, and all together I was close to crying a few times! I watched Doug Walker’s review and he said if he would take out a scene it would be the talent competition. However if he did then how would he meet the band that does win to sneak him into the mansion to meet Ernesto?
Haven't seen his review of the film, but for my taste, unless a movie feels like it's dragging or is too long, which I didn't think Coco did, I don't look at scenes that should be removed. I agree, I thought it made sense with the narrative, both as a vehicle to get Miguel to Ernesto but also to show Miguel overcoming his fear of performance that we saw earlier in the film
Joe The Disney Guy I actually had a dream last night where this amazing film was nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. I hope that actually happens!
Trademarking Dia de los Muertos was certainly a mistake. I see where they were coming from, as it was the original name of the film, but certainly a miscalculation on their part and not something I would've recommended for obvious reasons. As for Book of Life, I can't say I've seen it so hard for me to say, but it certainly wouldnt be the first time that films from various companies lined up with eerie similarity....
Please do Song of the South for a review. You are one who can handle it well IMO I know some may be uninformed on the history and not actually seen the whole movie or the racist moments. I don't believe it's as bad as it's made out to be but that's my opinion
