One of the few video that you don’t have an issue with a Disney movie next to Winnie the Pooh

That whole idea of a villainous aunt just wouldn't have worked and would have tanked the pacing, and Belle in those drawings almost looks like a far cry from what we got.

It is not as good as plenty of the other movies from this era, but I I actually like this movie more than the original. I found the original to look pretty dated in a lot of scenes and I found a lot of the characters outside the main mice pretty annoying. This movie just has more impressive animation, a much larger scope and characters I found to me more fun including the villain.

I think Bongo is also a part of the world of Bambi when he escapes The Circus. Many of the forest creatures from Bambi make an appearance.

I never saw Phil Harris as playing the same character 3 times in 3 straight movies in a row. Baloo was carefree but stepped up when it really mattered. O’Malley was a bit bad boy interested in a pretty girl with a caring heart (going out of his way to save Marie despite nearly drowning not even five minutes later), and Little John was cautious yet loyal.

Surely the Golden Age ended with Bambi? Cinderella, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, etc. are all silver age films 1950-68

I dont mind the darkness of the film but the story is just, nonexistent. It was way too much book to try and cram in here.

Little correction about the 1999 controversy. The image was actually placed in there during post production of the original theatrical release or at least the 1983 reissue (which nobody would’ve noticed) I noticed an episode of Disney Family Album from 1985 with the scene included and the image was there. The image was scrubbed in the 1992 VHS, and they simply forgot to do it for the 1999 VHS when they switched to a new master.

Maleficent’s voice actress was thorn in another princesses side. She was the evil stepmother in Cinderella. This movie is kinda nostalgic to me. 4:59 Cinderella, Aurora, and Anita Darling were all the same model. I love the animation of sleeping beauty, it still holds up today, in 2024.

This movie was a lovely tribute to the loyal Pooh fans of all these decades! There were so many "inside jokes" and references to the Pooh and Christopher Robin's childhood stories that probably went unnoticed for those who weren't familiar with them. For this, I applaud Disney for being bold enough to make a movie that mostly fans would truly "get", knowing that it may be lost on those watching Winnie The Pooh for the first time. And a million thanks to Disney for this gem that we'll keep forever!
