I recently saw Toy Story 4 and wanted to share my thoughts with you guys! Is it a classic ending to a classic franchise, or an epilogue to a story that was already finished?

I’m guessing Pixar’s shorts will only be included in Disney Plus as the Pixar Sparks series, from now on.

If you look in the first movie, when “Andy is coming” and everyone goes to their places when Andy and his friends enter with Buzz, you can see Bo Peep positions on a lamp NEXT to Molly’s crib. Gotta remember that both Andy and Molly shared the room before they moved to the second house.

I felt like it was okay but the supporting cast wasn’t there

I’d say that while TS3 wraps up Andy’s story, TS4 wraps up the toys’ story

4 took a big fat dump on what Woody has been preaching since movie 1: there is nothing more important to toys than being loved by a kid. And then he just leaves his kid for Bo Peep

Necessary? No, perhaps not. But It is a more mature and realistic ending than the 3rd. The ending of the third film was perfect. Too prefect, too clean, too neat and tidy. Emotionally satisfying, yes, but lacking the nuance that really comes with goodbyes. Toy Story 4 is really a deconstruction of all the previous films in the franchise particularly the 3rd. It walks back on many of the established tropes such as giving the villian a happy ending, stating that your purpose in life isn't always what's assigned to you, and moving on and growing as a person is painful and difficult sometimes. Not everyone in your life will or can follow you on your journey. I personally really appreciate the messages of the 4th film and it's willingness to break the mold, but I was never a huge Toy Story fan and I can certainly understand life long fans of the franchise being upset with the approach this movie takes.

@@dillonohlemiller9027 Yeah precisely, the fact that it is taking a dump on the other films pass massages is why I like TS4. AS I never cared for Toy Story's original message.

Glad to know you enjoyed it. I thought it was a very good sequel too.

While I thought Toy Story 3 had a superior ending, I thought Toy Story 4 was overall more entertaining.

*SPOILER WARNING* Although I’d say this was my least favorite Toy Story and can’t really say it was a necessary film, I still would say it’s on par with the other 3 and I still enjoyed the heck out of it. I feel like the reason all of the other characters took a back seat is because pretty much all of their story arc was complete. It was clear from the beginning that this was Woody and Bo’s story (as well as Forky’s to a lesser extent) and the other characters were there for assistance. And as far as being a finale for Woody’s character, I can’t imagine a better ending than for him to give up his own voice box so another toy could have a chance at what he once had with Andy. And I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get emotional when I saw the whole gang together again for one last time at the end. This film also continued to trend of dealing with issues that we can all relate to: 1 was about self-worth and identity, 2 was about abandonment issues, 3 was about growing up, and 4 was about accepting change and moving on. Overall I’d say this is one of Pixar’s better more recent sequels. As much as I did like Finding Dory and Incredibles 2, I think this film will be a lot more memorable in the long run.

Pretty good synopsis there, and yeah, I guess you could say with the other characters being wrapped up, their inclusion wasn't as needed in the ending

@Joe The Disney Guy I say it was a great all around movie. It really shocked me that Woody gave up his life as a toy with an owner and the fact that he gave up his voicebox and pullstring. I think Toy Story 4 could be a good conclusive ending, but I think that Pixar needs to make a 5th movie. Not a sequel, but a prequel. I say that so that we can understand the beginning of it all, how Woody met Andy for the first time.

Great review! Yeah, I was confused about Bo Peep belonging to Molly in this movie. Since she belonged to the mom first, maybe they originally put Bo and her lamp in Andy’s room and then when Molly got a bit older and was afraid of the dark, Bo was passed on to Molly. Could that work with what they said, or am I missing something?

Can you please upload a Disney Guy review for The rescuers Down under for your next video? It was the first Disney animated movie that was made by CAPS!

No Bo Peep was always a lamp.
@JoeTheDisneyGuy
@JoeTheDisneyGuy 5 лет назад
I dunno about that. From what I understand the lamp thing was supposed to be introduced in 3 before she was dropped, and she was clearly porcelain, but she was always one of "Andy's Toys," even when they were moving

@@JoeTheDisneyGuy So when you turn the lamp upside down dose Bo Peep stick?
@dakotahmays1437
@dakotahmays1437 5 лет назад
If you watch the original Toy Story, she was always part of a lamp and while she technically belonged to Molly, Andy still used her as a damsel in distress for his playtime roles being that they shared a room in the original
