Omg yes! An sooo many, literally every vendor had a different collectable bucket- I got the Boat from Steamboat Willie! But I saw like Full sized BB-8’s, Tangled Lanterns that light up… so many!!
But lest we forget that not only are their buckets amazing, their actual POPCORN game is NEXT LEVEL!!!!!! Im still trying to replicate that curry popcorn! it's just perfection!!!!!!
I totally agree with Disney Dan about ebay. I had to wait for a year for a 2019 Mickey and Minnie gingerbread headband. In January 2020, it was $100 and then in September 2020, it was $12.00.
I agree as well. Disney Parks make very few items available online, particularly limited edition items (pins anyone?). If I don't live near a Disney theme park there is no way for me to get this merchandise other than ebay. And, my time is also worth so much more to me. I don't think I would wait 8 hours to nuy a popcorn bucket, but I would pay someone else a reasonable price to save me time.
If people love figment so much they could just get a plush as well. Which is cuter and has more long term sentimental value than a bucket. I never understood why plushes were never hyped up like the buckets.
They’re not talked about often, but the crowds at Epcot are absolutely flooded with those little magnet shoulder Figments. They’re incredibly adorable and even folks who aren’t familiar with Figment are infatuated with these things. I’ve even seen people dress them up in nuiMo clothes.
@@christiandacanay3086 NuiMOs are only about an inch shorter than the Figment shoulder plush. Not all the clothes fit, but a lot of them look very cute on him!
Dan, you put popcorn in your hand-made Figment puppet. Popcorn being put in a plastic foot does NOT sound all that crazy after that. XD Great video, saw the Offhand Disney video yesterday and began wondering when this video would come out. Here’s hoping Disney takes all the chaos as a sign that we need more Figment.
All this popcorn bucket hype makes it feel appropriate to finally reveal one of my greatest disney possessions is a white and blue annual pass holder popcorn bucket from a few years ago. Key features being that it was white and plastic, meaning it was incredibly easy for me to use a bit of white out to make myself a custom "Annual Assholder" popcorn bucket, that sits proudly in my room to this day. It feels even more special now that the program no longer has that name. This is my only popcorn bucket discourse contribution and it's incredibly lame. Loved those free refills though, memories.
If you cover the popcorn buckets, you HAVE to do a disturbingly deep dive into the history of weird Disney on Ice snowcone cups. THEY CUT NEMO'S HEAD OPEN.
That reminds me of the Rosalina Amiibo... I'm a Nintendo fan, I collect amiibo figures, and Rosalina was Target exclusive, so people stormed it, and instead of the usual $12-$20, they were up on ebay for like $100... I still don't have one. But at least with Disney, they seem to be more aware of that aspect. I actually don't remember popcorn buckets when I went there, but I'm in Canada, so only went there once like 10 years ago, and didn't have room in my suitcase to bring anything home.
I’ve been buying Disney and movie theater popcorn buckets for 20 years. I don’t even eat popcorn at home but dammit, I love these buckets on a shelf. It’s funny that you mentioned the Mickey mummy buckets because if you go to the Disney outlet store at the Vineland outlets (Orlando), they have a huge overstock of those buckets right now. I think they’re like $15.
The figment popcorn buckets are EXCLUSIVE to the festival. Once the festival is over they are GONE and will not be coming back. That’s why they are so popular. If you don’t get one or have gotten one by now, you won’t ever get one at Epcot. They’re limited edition to the festival and once sold out will not be returning.
On a related tangent , you might be interested in the current hysteria surrounding Duffy’s new friend Lina Bell at Shanghai Disneyland. 18 hour queues and a bit of scalping is nothing compared to what’s been going on there.
I have a popcorn bucket problem, I have so many (not helped that i lived in Japan for a while where like you said the buckets were crazy cool), i haave no idea what to do with them all, using them is always hard because lol none of them are easy to wash afterwords. Ive started using them store craft materials.
Dear parents! Let the kids choose their favourite Disney Parks souvenirs!!! When the kids are very good, then they deserve more souvenirs. Every good behaviour kid should have 1-2 bags of Disney Parks souvenirs: plush toys, toys, mini figures, bubble blower, Mickey ears, t-shirts, jacket, drinking bottle, and some pins or magnets and etc. Please buy only those Disney Parks souvenirs, what the kids very want!!!! I know many Disney souvenirs are very expensive, but when the kids are very good all the times, then sometimes they deserve these things!!! Please be kind parents and make Your kids very happy with these Disney Parks souvenirs, what the kids have chosen and don’t say NO all the times, when the kids very deserves those Disney Parks souvenirs for good behaviour!!! Respectfully, Astra Viil😊🙏
The thing that upsets me is I had all these popcorn buckets from 1998-2002 from Paris and My dad and I were using them to store things in the shed, and I had no idea they’d become so collectible 😂 however the shed never looked so magical 😂
Thank you! I will most definitely want to see a video on Tokyo Disney Resort's popcorn bucket history, as some of the more recent designs are just gorgeous on to themselves (See Beauty and the Beast stain glass popcorn bucket that lights up.)
This reminds me of when Universal Studios Japan released a limited edition Mechagodzilla popcorn bucket to coincide with the Godzilla Vs Evangelion ride in 2019. I was lucky enough to be visiting Japan at the time and I went to USJ where I was able to pick up one of them. There was a pretty sizable line and in just a couple hours of the park opening they were all sold out for the day. That was definitely my first experience of popcorn buckets being a hot commodity!
I was one of the crazy people that did wait in line for figment bucket. Not for resale but for my own pleasure. Figment is one of my favorite characters, but I do also have several of the other buckets. This is the first one that I had to stand in line for. I am going back to the park next week to enjoy the Festival of the Arts.
Me and my family had many popcorn buckets from disney world. We even ended up using them outside the parks sometimes! When we went to the theater, each of the kids had their own bucket that the jumbo sized one would be poured into. It probably helped prevent infighting between me and my 3 sibs.
At this point I'm just frustrated, because we're going in a few days, and I've never seen my mom remotely excited about merch before but she loves figment and she likes this bucket. Of course the one time I wanna get her something it's a thing with an 8 hour wait and huge markups.
I didn't even realize Disney popcorn buckets were a thing until a few years ago when my friend was telling me about how she tried to buy me an Oogie Boogie one, buy they were strictly enforcing the purchase limit lmao
Ehhh... the reseller thing is a bit different than doordash. With Doordash, I ordered my food. They grabbed my order and delivered it to me. Resellers are hogging up the line, and buying AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE... with literally the only intent of selling it for a drastically inflated price to take advantage of people who can't go to the parks. Now, if someone in a Disney group makes a post or something and says "I'm going to Disney this week. If anyone wants a bucket, let me know and I'll grab one for you for retail+shipping"... that's a totally different story and 100% acceptable. But buying 30 buckets then slapping them on Ebay for $200 each while they're still being sold for $25 at the park? That's just being a bad person. Plus, there being a huge abundance of them makes the selling them at a grossly inflated price even worse. If there's thousands at the ready, why are they selling them so high?
Honestly, I would probably buy one of those Figment buckets if they were half price or something. It's cute. But it's not worth $25 let alone whatever the resellers are upcharging. But if it was that Tokyo Disneyland Alice in Wonderland one, that's a different story...
I’m just bummed that they can get 7 hour lines from a Figment popcorn bucket but they haven’t done anything to make that ride nicer. Either they don’t realize the merchandising MONSTER they’d have on their hands if the ride was even better, or they don’t care because he sells without a good ride.
Can you bring previously-purchased buckets back on other visits, like after they’re done being sold, and get them filled? Like I have one from 2020 (pre-pandemic) and would I be able to bring it now and use the refill option?
As someone who does live in the Orlando area I kind of agree that Disney in a way is basically just a giant mall for us. Literally about a month ago my friend and I drove to Disney springs just to try some snacks and buy a tshirt. We then immediately left afterwords.
I don’t know what’s weird or honestly the fact that I started almost 50 seconds in this video and I’m already making a comment or the fact that you’re eating popcorn practically out of Sigmund a whole
i think the foot buckets are meant to be a representation of the "boot" mugs used in Germany around Christmas for gluehvine, which are widely popular in their Christmas markets. That's why the popcorn buckets that are shaped that way are always Christmas ones.
I think the re-sellers are more annoying to the people who literally waited hours in line only for the dude in front of them to buy the last 50 figments. I’m probably gonna wait for prices to dip because oh my god is he adorable lol
Very interesting back story! That said - waiting 8 hours in line for a novelty popcorn bucket that's probably going to end up in a closet or the basement? I'd rather spend 8 hours going on attractions, shopping and/or dining experiences.
How many popcorn buckets do I have? Zero. The last time I was in Disney was 2010/2011 and didn't know about about these popcorn buckets until relatively recently. So, thank you Dan for letting us know the best way to buy these things for a good price. P.s. Dallin beat you to uploading a video about this
I didn't even know these existed! I'm British and never been to any of the parks, so am oblivious to these kinds of these things. Now I know I really need the Figment one! And yes Dan, I've noticed you change the background every video! It's fun seeing what's changed!
Offhand Disney Video: "Man, this is weird. Anyway, my friend is making a video this week, you should check him out, that'd be neat, :)" Disney Dan Video: "I'M GONNA EAT ALL THE POPCORN. LOOK AT ALL THE BUCKETS. YOU'RE GOING DOWN OFFHAND DISNEY!!"
I bought the steamboat mickey popcorn bucket from Disneysea on a past Tokyo trip. It's so pretty but it was a pain to wash out the curry smell from the popcorn 😅
U said ur gonna deep dive into popcorn buckets but when it comes to Tokyo you really need to look into the love of popcorn in Japan my sister lived there for 4 years and my best friend is Japanese its huge over there. They have some of the best flavors. But its why their buckets are the Rolls-Royce of popcorn buckets.
My fokes and I have the Pluto Christmas popcorn bucket and they aren’t the buckets BUT I have mickeys 90th birthday cup shaped like him and the orange bird drink shaped like him
I have questions. Why is the opening of the Figment Popcorn Bucket on the SOUTHERN end of his side? Am I the only one that thinks that is sort of um... odd? Maybe it's just me! 🤔
Yes I do notice you change backdrop every vid. Keep at it. I like that you take the time to do that. As for Figment, I think it’s popular because guests are trying to send a message to Disney. That we care about Figment and want Epcot to do more with him. Especially make the effort to bring back the original Journey Into Imagination.
This was great! Now I want one! No I don’t have a popcorn bucket but I can assure you I’m a huge fan Disney. Hopefully I can get one in May when I go to Disney World for the 50th.
i have the Toyko japan popcorn buckets beauty and the beast and tangle and i have universal japan one of nezuko. paid a pretty penny for it as well. but love them.
Dan!! Awesome as always. I think we would have been offended if you hadn’t been eating popcorn during this. Our new favorite phrase is: Please mom, can I have the popcorn foot?!😂 You now have me NEEDING a Mickey balloon popcorn bucket. We are really excited for you and Offhand Disney to do a series of popcorn videos! It would be cool if they weren’t just dueling, but maybe a collab or two? You work so well together on Foolish Mortals! Also, have you seen the people doing giveaways for Figment popcorn buckets? One of them had it listed as a value of $200!!!
I'm so mad. I've been resisting buying popcorn buckets because if I buy one, I buy alot. Well I got the Tie Fighter one from a few years back. Last trip I got Simba. And I need this Figment. Mays as well start collecting them now!
When the Millennium Falcon bucket was released, my Dad surprised me by sending me one for Christmas (he’s in CA, I’m in AZ). I liked seeing the photos of people repainting to age and detail their Millennium Falcon buckets. Also getting it helped answer my question of how essentially a flat disk actually functions as a bucket. You point the ship into a nose dive, lift the back top, and there are grooves to fit a small cardboard rectangle containers in)
only someone like Dan can take a professionally made puppet that's probably worth hundreds of dollars, stuff it with greasy popcorn and casually eat out of it just for a youtube gag. Never change Dan, never change.
Watching this man eat popcorn out of Figments… uhhhh… I’m not even gonna. But it literally made my voice change for a few seconds because of the shock.
everyone in the parks: we need the figment popcorn bucket we NEEED IT!!! me: i want one disney: sorry... 12:28 sellers: oh... you ran out i was about to ask to buy your entire stock for 10,000 disney: we joking sold!!
This whole Figment popcorn bucket craze is totally reminding me of the Orange Bird sipper cup madness circa Garden Festival 2020, which makes me wanna see a video on the history of Orange Bird in Epcot! Such an interesting character... Great video as always!
I was so sad I thought the buckets would all be back when I went to Epcot on Saturday and I did a whole Figment disneybound (that I planned for my trip WAY before the bucket was on sale) but when I went they still didnt have any back in yet!!
As someone who lives 20 minutes away I can confirm that we do treat it like a mall. I can also admit that in my house we buy popcorn buckets to use as holiday decor
UGH... popcorn buckets... the epidemic of stupidity with money. I mean, Disney knows You better than anyone. YOU (not me) will buy this thing no matter the price I bet... 10 cents or less of plastic and a few more for colorway costs.... yea.... and you're paying HOW MUCH FOR THEM? ROFLMAO. A fool and their money.
I'm so glad to finally know what those Mickey balloon things on your set are! Also: in regards to the coloured popcorn, if you can use chopsticks, grab some and you can use them to eat the popcorn mess-free!
