I watched this movie all the time when I was 4-5 years old. I'm 19 now, and it this scene randomly popped into my head so I google "Cartoon movie about eagle". I can't believe I actually found it
This is one of the all-time great movie scenes. A majestic and breathtaking opening to a great adventure. When I saw this on the big screen as a six year old I had goosepimples from head to toe. The sight of that giant eagle and that boy astride her flying over these vistas and through wisping clouds and then that steep waterfall... oh just amazing.
After such little response from the first movie, Disney put their DAMNEDEST into this one. Boy, did it pay off. Some of the best animation I'd ever seen at my age.
My generation: when we have kids we HAVE to show them this movie. It opens the mind, its adventurous, the visuals are stunning, and it really gives you the feeling of a larger world. And if your a parent now then there is no reason why your children should not see this film.
that boy has by far the coolest name a person can have. i was too little to understand when it came out. "Is that me, Mom? Is that me doing that?" lolllll way better than the first Rescuers
Best sequel to a Disney movie and extremely underrated due to the releases of Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. This brings back memories of my childhood. (Born in '88). Marahute was, IMO, the most beautiful animal drawn by Disney (behind Nala). Oh and 2:23....best shot ever. Hands down. And the music? Priceless!
I had never seen one before this movie and thought so to. Dang, I was disappointed when I saw a real one for the first time, but I kept loving them. I think that is why I love dragons nowadays.
I still remember this from when I was little! When I have children when I'm older I will make sure they see the old Disney movies compare to what they watch now.
This movie was one of my top favorite as a 90's child. It's a shame they (pixar) set a new standard that everything should be 3D and nothing drawn for animation. CGI killed what Disney used to be, timeless and captivating and handdrawn. This movie was old Disney and reminds of those good times for real artistic achievement in 2D anim. It's a relic today.
Awww what a nice friend big eagle I remember that Movie 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅be strong little man and go do your thing
2:24 is the most beautiful scene in all disney movies, period. Well, that and the Nala and Simba scene when 'Can you feel the love tonight?' is playing :D
I hadn't seen this movie since I was a little girl! My grandmother recorded it on VHS for me and I watched it all the time! Until my brother decided to use it to record stuff. I went to FYE just last week and found the Gold Collection edition! Watching it brought back sooooo many fond memories
@laserwolf65 As much as I can appreciate your admiration for this wonderful scene I have to disagree. Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and Kiki's Delivery Service are all magical experiences and contain loads of cinema dazzle in every frame. You're doing a disservice to a master filmmaker.
I loved this movie to death as a child, but I remember how weird it was that you don't even see the rescuers until about half an hour into the movie, lol.
@Guyverman01 What about Pixar? They are Awesome! But they didn't become well known until 5 years later , Toy Story. They had been around since 1986 , but only with shorts like ``Tin Toy'' , & ``The Adventures of Wally B.'' and little moments in ``Oliver and Company'' e.g. the Syke's car , and ``The Little Mermaid'' Ariel running down the staircase. This film has great memories , i remember being 3 years old on our black leather sofa at our apartment watching this film in my pajamas.
Wanna know why they do not make films like this anymore? BECAUSE they don't care about the true meaning of disney anymore.Ever since Walt died disney has been jacked up. Shame it is.
This is the scene I like to show to anime fanboys who complain about lack luster american animation. The truth is, there is more magic and better animation in this one scene than in any single Hayao Miyazaki film ever made. That's a fact.
i like how unrealistic this is. i enjoyed this movie as a kid but now that i see it all i think about is how that eagle would probably have just eaten the kid after he set him free.
@cartoonkingforeever Oh, I wasn't talking about animation quality. I was talking about basic storytelling and character development. Miyazaki is a master when it comes to crafting beautiful stories. As much as I love the animation style in The Rescuers Down Under, the story is very routine.
@LastEarthBender it wasn't a subliminal message, just a part in the background. they didn't realize the impact video was going to have causing people to re watch over and over until they caught it. and Nudity is not perverted.
