Excellent information Dave!! Our party of seven has decided to MaxPass, at least for one day, and maybe for all 5 in mid-August. Heck what's $350 on $10k... as long as it doesn't lead to future charging for FPs for everyone. And I love that my ride photos will no longer have notes and numbers on them!

Hell YES! It was worth it!! We went on the week following Easter Sunday and didn’t realize that it was spring break for so many kids. We were able to ride 5 of our favorites at least twice (some of them 3 times). During times we had to wait, we took pictures around the park and made sure we really took advantage of the maxpas 👌🏼 awesome idea. Highly recommendeded!!

Super informative! I'm going in November and this really helped me determine I do NOT need MaxPass. My last trip was in January and my sister and I really had no troubles walking around... this is just my opinion but I personally LIKE the experience of wondering what we should get next and zipping all around the parks!

Maxpass should be discounted for multiple day ticket holders. maxpass for five day parkhopper, 50 per ticket, max pass for all year on a lower level annual pass $75? What about 10 one day, 17 dollars two days, 21 3 days etc. It would match the current pricing structure much better.

Love the new Maxpass as a family of 3 AP we went July 29 on a sat at 3pm we hit roger rabbit space mountain Matterhorn Buzz Star Tours Splash Haunted Mantion and solo line for Indiana were were so happy and never get to do that much on a sat at peak time. Love this !!!!

As always, you do a great job on giving your viewers the pros and cons with minimal personal opinions. I understand how the MaxPass can be the best way to maximize ones time, however, I also see how this could lead DL into charging us for Fastpasses regardless of how they are distributed. So tempting to go with app, but I don't want DL to think they are on to something with charging us for one more damn thing! Keep up the great videos....you are my "go to" for great insider info!

This doesn't seem like a bad idea now that i fully understand how it works! As someone who gets to visit once a year, this might be helpful. We spend our days running all over trying to cram in as many rides as possible. With this we can be in line for one, and get a fastpass for something else without having to run to the other park! we did this a lot on our visit in june. Luckily, i only have to pay for myself, but for me and my other guests and $10 a person might not fly with everyone else. we will have to find out when the time comes!!

Overall I am happy with this addition to the FP system. My opinion may change when I actually use the system in September but so far I'm pretty impressed with how it works and I am extremely happy that fast pass plus was not implemented at DL!

Tried it a few weeks ago. I'm still not thrilled that it's a charged service, however over the course of a 2 day trip it was well worth the money. It was helpful and saved us a lot of time. One important note: if you are rope-dropping, you can book a FastPass the moment your ticket is scanned in, you don't have to wait until the park officially opens. We went to DCA, as soon as we got in we got in the Guardians line, and then while waiting we booked a Radiator Springs FP. For these two rides it was invaluable.

With relation to your Radiator Springs Racers Guide video. With Maxpass on a Thursday are Magic Morning visitors to Disneyland able to book a Fastpass on their phone the second DCA opens without getting in the Fastpass queue across the street. For that matter the second DCA opens does Maxpass make the RSR Fastpass queue a mute point?

I tried out FastPass on the last day of my recent trip. It wasn't even a full day but I wanted to ride Space Mountain later in the night but didn't want to make the full trek over from the west side of the park. Once it went through it was very easy to use and I made use of booking a FastPass while in line feature a lot while in Tomorrowland for my Space pass. It was very easy to use and very convenient. I'm considering the $75 year addition of it to my pass for future trips, but I would miss getting the paper passes, as they are great souvenirs and reminders of the stuff I did during a trip. Additionally, even without MaxPass whenever I got a FastPass it would show up on the app because my pass was linked after MaxPass was launched. That was actually a really nice feature because more often then not I had my phone out in line but not my pass, so I could scan without fumbling around for my wallet.

I live in Canada and have downloaded the DL app but it doesn't allow me to purchase the tickets on the app. I was told that only US and Japanese residents are able to purchase tickets on the app and to link tickets. is this true?

Thanks fresh baked for this. I thought MaxPass would be great for a once a year visit such as I do. But now hearing this and knowing when to visit and when to get on rides when the lines are shorter, MaxPass is not for me.

Oh yea, is Maxpass is WORTH it. When Halloween was in the parks, I put a timer on my phone for 3PM becuz we HAD to ride Guardians Of The Galaxy: Monsters After Dark. Becuz Of MaxPass, for the rest of the time my family and I were there, I rode GOTG: Monsters After Dark 3 Times every night! Trust me guys, it’s worth it.

you can look at return times for attractions, but through the regular part of the disneyland app. if you want the scrollable list, like in the video, you have to be scanned in to the park.

I just used the Max Pass this past week and was very happy with it. So much easier!! No more running from ride to ride to try and get fast passes. Plus you get all pictures from the rides and the ones Cast members take. I'm just worried for when they raise the price on this because they will. Such a bargain right now.

When I called Disney to ask if MAXPass could be rolled into your monthly payment the answer was only if you're renewing or purchasing you AP at that time. If you're adding into to an existing AP the $75.00 fee needed to be paid upfront.

You don't have to wait 30min to get another FP. You only have to wait 30min if you DONT redeem your Fastpass within 30min. If you redeem within 30min you may get another FP the moment you scan into one of the touch points.

In mrcheesypop's in park demo video he was able to book a new fastpass as soon as he redeemed it, regardless of when the app said he had to wait to get another one, like Ryan ThemePark says. So now I'm confused. Maybe the 30mins is the time to get two at once?

i'm basing this on the observations I made when booking the fastpass. It told me when I was eligible to get my next pass, just like it did on your fast pass ticket. This is a brand new development though, so it's possible Max's video was done before the new rule took effect.

Newly purchased passes will no longer include unlimited photopass. Still avaliable with renewal though.

So would someone with MaxPass be able to show up at rope drop and reserve a fastpass for a popular ride that usually sells out fastpasses early without having to wait in a line? For example, could one reserve a radiator springs racers fastpass without waiting in the fastpass line at rope drop? If so, I can see why MaxPass would be beneficial for getting on busier rides while saving a little more time of the day.

Paper fast pass tickets are not readily available anymore with this system in place. We were in DCA yesterday using RideMax schedule and not a single paper FP was available when it had been in the past. Terrible experience. From now on we are using maxpass it may cost a little more but there is no hassle jumping from Park to park or walking to the next paper FP kiosk any longer. Save yourself the headache pay the money, bring a power-bank for your phone so it doesn't die, and enjoy!

Hey I'm heading up this weekend, and this is my first and possibly only chance to visit Disneyland in 10 years, I'm going to Disneyland park on Friday and again Sunday, avoiding the opening date of rivers, would it be possible to get on all the major attractions using only the original fastpass and not maxpass?

If you're looking to do rides, 2 days has always been enough for my family. If you're looking to do parades and shows, might be a little tight. Plan ahead and start early.

Since yours was free with your type of AP, i want to know about how to pay for it. Does the app prompt you for credit card info?Can you pay by cash at a kiosk and have that person manning the kiosk input the transaction so the app knows you paid? Online?

Janaye Yarbrough in order to book a fastpass through MaxPass you must be in one of the parks. If you do not go through the gates then the MaxPass isn't 'activated'

Just wandered over this, but one thing that I'm curious about. You said you need it for children's tickets too, how does this apply to the 2 and under "free" children? I've never been with, but the whole point of me running across this video was that I'm thinking of taking my 2 and under "free" child, do they get a physical ticket? Do the rides that they go on allow fastpasses in the first place?

ohplezz I believe as long as your ticket has been scanned at the entrance of the park that day, the app will count you as "in the park". So you should be able to reserve a fastpass if you went back to your hotel room or anything like that

Question #1. Indiana Jones breaks every hour. If it happens during your digital return time is it still good or do you have to walk to the ride to get a ticket? Question #2. If I'm scanned through the gate, then exit and go to Downtown Disney, does the system know I'm not in the park?

One person can have everyone in their fastpass party scan to their ticket. then that one person can manage the fastpasses for the entire party.

I mean if the manager makes the reservation does everyone have to scan at the ride individually or does the manager show the phone with 5 people on it and scan at the ride just once for the whole party? I'm assuming the former but just want to check. Oh and one more question. I saw that someone (Ethan?) put his barcode on his apple watch. Did this work out?

If I understood correctly, only one person needs to pay for a max pass in order to get all of the available ride photos and photographer shots with photo pass? What are the ride photos up to, $39.00 ea + tax?

Anthony Martin that is correct! You would just input the picture id number into app and in about 20 minutes, the photo is in the app

Josh is wrong. Only one person needs to buy MaxPass to get the PhotoPass benefit for any and all photos taken by your group. Just have the photographer link it to the MaxPass enabled ticket or put the picture ID of the ride photo in your Disneyland App. Josh is thinking of the Fastpass benefit to Maxpass, which is only beneficial to the members of the party who have MaxPass. To sum up: If the shorter lines are your reasoning for MaxPass, everyone must buy their own. If, however, you just want the photos, as stated in your question, only ONE person needs to buy MaxPass to benefit the whole group. :)

So, basically, you're paying for the convenience of a service that's already available for free at Disney World? Not to mention, at DW, you can reserve fastpasses days in advance, and you don't have to physically be at the park to do so. I just hope they don't implement this new take on the pre-existing system and start charging for it at DW as well. I'm not sure why Disneyland wouldn't just use the same MagicBand system that's already in place at DW, as that works incredibly well, and it's the same thing as MaxPass, but done better, for free.

Wait so for Max Pass you wait 30 min after you get the fast pass. But does this apply for going to the kiosks too or do you wait like you used to? (still a little confused is all)

fast passes work the same no matter how you get them. maxpass is just another way to GET them. 30 minutes minimum between fastpasses.

You're probably not going to like this comment, David, but I've gotta be honest: I hope fast passes become a paid for item. Why? Because Disneyland is a magical adventure unlike any other, that people from all over the country, and world, come to experience. And frankly, the park is too small to accomodate the families looking for a once-a-year excursion AND the locals just going there "to kill time." I almost wish there were no season passes... it's just too crowded. I *want* it to be prohibitively expensive to just take up space. Making fast pass a daily paid system would discourage locals, who go everyday, from clogging up the system and leave it open for those families on a once in a year, or lifetime, to be able to experience. ..... it's just so crowded. I'm lucky if I get to go every other year, and ever time I go I'm packed shoulder to shoulder trying to find a place to stand where I can breathe my own air. /rant

In my opinion, this would be detrimental to Walt's view, as he wanted Disneyland to be a place that's accessible to everyone. It's already expensive enough as is, but locking people out with even more fees and no APs would just be wrong

Mike Jackson Also, I doubt that many locals go to disney just to "kill time". If they have an AP and go very often, it's likely that Disneyland is a very special place to them, and for many it's where they truly feel at home. I don't feel it's right to de-legitimize that and only cater to tourists and people who come to Disney on vacation. If you really are bothered by the crowds, there are plenty of resources online that you can use such as calendars with AP blockout dates and anticipated crowd levels that will help you avoid the busy days

Mike Jackson, the average AP only goes for a few hours and maybe use 1-2 fast passes. Most of us are not there the whole day. The parks are experiencing record attendance and fast pass creates more "crowd" by creating a virtual person of you in line while the real you is out and about shopping or eating a churro. Must tourist already think fast pass is a paid service. In line I always help tourist maximize their day by telling them high priority attractions to get a fast pass first thing in the morning and how to get their next fast pass and they are shocked that it's already included in their ticket.

Mike Jackson They really should have not offered MAXPASS to APs as an add-on. Those who really want the convenience can pay $10 per person per day. Others can walk to pull their FPs. Maybe offer it to hotel guests for free.
