Disney's Vero Beach Check Out Day! | Breakfast, Disney Trivia Poolside & More Resort Fun!

In today's vlog we are super sad to be checking out of Disney's Vero Beach Resort. We had an awesome stay and we can't wait to book this resort again! We start the day with another beautiful sunrise on the back patio and then pack up and put everything in the car. Then we head to Wind & Waves Grill for breakfast, the keylime filled Mickey waffles were the star of the show for sure! We head out to the pool for one last ride down the slide and we even catch the Disney trivia! Did you leave your answers down below? Hey Tim! Most of those thermostats have an override. Just google the name of the thermostat with override and it should pop up.

You guys should bring an osculating fan with you and point it towards the motion sensors for the A/C. Maybe that will keep it from turning off at night, then again maybe not...LOL.

Brings me so much joy to see how much Jackson enjoys being around water (even if it's just sprinklers), and hear his giggles when he's playing in the pool (or anytime!) - just fills my heart with such happiness. Try using Avon skin so soft for the midges! Here in Scotland we suffer with them and this stuff works great to keep them away!

With kids, we have always loved the fun, ambeince, and safety at the Disney Resort pools. When you mentioned the lifeguards checking around the slide with shift change it reminded me of our last trip to Disneyland, we noticed the safety routine of the lifeguards there as well. They ALWAYS have eyes on the pool and Its such an relief as parents especially as kids get older and are more independent in the pool and on the slides. Also, I enjoyed the trivia:)

Oh the colours and noise of the ocean 💗 Watching Jackson wave to the bunny smell the flowers and run to breakfast!💗 A great looking resort, and watching you both have fun on the slide ...fab! In Scotland we have midges too...but we can have them all day in the summer , hail , rain or shine..😫

To bypass the motion detector ac, try this next time: Press & hold the power button and cool button at the same time. You should see “BP” on the screen. Set to your desired temp. It should hold for 48 hours.

Forgot to mention, there is an item you can buy and have in your room to get around the annoyance of the air conditioning sensor. It’s a favorite of Jackson’s!!! It’s a 🎈balloon filled with helium tied to a chair near a working ceiling fan. That gives the constant motion in the room. When I worked at Yacht and Beach Club they had balloons and a helium tank, not sure about Vero Beach though. But when you check in, ask, it never hurts to ask. Hard to believe that was 14 years ago I worked YC/BC. You can also get a free standard balloon at Publix on your way into the resorts.

I don't know if anyone else mentioned this in the comments, but there is a super cute Peter Pan-themed underground tunnel that leads out to a small lake that has a walking trail around it. It is really beautiful! It's over by the bike rental area that Tim showed...you just follow Tick-Tock Croc's footprints on the sidewalk!

AC tip.....use a shirt, paper towel or a strand of toilet paper and attached it to a clothes hanger. Then hang it right in front of the AC motion detector while a fan is blowing on it. Now you have constant movement in front of the motion detector which will keep your AC on at all times.

We get midges in Scotland during the summer. They swarm together and you very seldom see them on your skin but they bite and leave tiny red pinpricks all over your skin. Citronella works great. Gorgeous beach holiday and so amazing you could see dolphins from your cottage xx

Plug-in Ice Chests are a lifesaver. I always keep mine in the car. It's also great for days when I have lots of errands that include groceries. I never worry that my refrigerator foods are spoiling in the car.

My car has "cigarette lighter" plugs (as does every car now) but they only stay working for ~10 minutes after the car has turned off. I have to keep "refreshing" the electricity (turn the key or car "on" and then turn it off again) if I want to keep anything that is plugged in working. So plugging in a portable cooler with a car adapter plug or anything wouldn't work for some cars. :( BUT, that's a really good idea otherwise!!

The lifeguards are clearing their zone when they are changing guards. They check around the slide and in it and everywhere in between. Disney outsources the training of their guards to Ellis and Associates. I worked at another waterpark not Disney owned and was trained by the same company. They have a very thorough and active approach to life guarding.

**PRO TIP for Biting Midges or No-see-ums** We go to Homosassa Springs, Clearwater beach,, etc. (Anywhere near a water source even lakes can be have them too down here) all the time and the midges are super bad there in the spring and summer during twilight hours. Bug spray and candles never seemed to work as they are a different type of bug then most biting insects which candles and spray is directed for. The only thing that worked for as long as I can remember (my great grandmother taught me this) is specifically Bounce brand dryer sheets. You rub them on your skin and it works better than any bug spray or candle for the biting midges. Very strange I know but your best option to not get eaten alive as there is a ingredients in the sheets they absolute hate! I've tried other brands of dryer sheets but the only one that works effectively is the Bounce brand. Now every spring I buy a couple boxes and keep them in the car for outside events and adventures. Keep a box in you beach bag for when watching the sunrise or sunset. Hope this helps some people out as big spray does not work and neither does the candles for these little biters. Edit: I saw some others suggesting Avon skin so soft which I completely forgot about! Thanks for sharing it! I always use the dryer sheets because I don't like the greasy feeling from the lotion sprays or bug sprays in the Florida heat. But it does work great at sticking them in place before they can bite you.

For the ac issue, tie a scarf to the ceiling fan at night so it spins and the sensor thinks you’re moving around and or use your stroller fan with a small piece of ribbon tied to it near the sensor. Clip it bear the sensor so the blowing ribbon activates the AC
