yo, bit of a correction for the video - the trevor noah interview was about a different movie (not star-wars related). still think what she said was really cringe but just had to clear that up. apologies for that my bad.
i feel bad for anyone who was born after 2018 and didn’t get to witness the past years of successful, good plot/story telling, memorable characters and moments, and the super nostalgia of old disney.
I dunno, the gaming industry is mostly unaffected from what I've seen, I mean it could flip on a dime, but if the movie or TV show industry went under there's at least somewhere else.
I swear these people treat “gay” like the new emo or goth. “OMG, look at me, I’m soooo gay, and this is the gayest thing I’ve done, don’t you love how my gayness makes ThE mAn angry?? Don’t you?!?!” It is one of the most cringe trends of modern social media to me, and there is some heavy competition 😬
@@That_Random_British_Dude Absolutely, 💯, like the people who work their way into the LGBT acronym (whatever it is now) by claiming themselves an "ally." Uh...you're just straight 😂
Exactly. I may be Bisexual, but I don't do it to make anyone mad nor do I flaunt it all the time. I just am, and only really talk about it to people I'm close to.
@@alhfgsp its not ABOUT SEX. OH MY GOD. I understand that its wrong to assume romantic relationships, but gay people arent only and explicitly sexual relationships?? Hello???
i'm bisexual, and OH GOSH..... i honestly HATE these kinds of movies, shows, books anything what is about to represent LGBTQ.... like ONLY LGBTQ... Not about showing the story, not the dialogues, some battles, engaging scenes no only LGBTQ..... like... i hate it... like i HONESTLY would 1 000 000% would prefer to see how the characters try to save the world or some shit like that.... and not the "YoU DoN'T uNdErStAnD mE MoM!!!!" And before i would get attacked... Because that's just what people like to do now adays on the internet... There is a difference between showing love between men like in "The song of Achilles", "Firebird", "Call Me By Your Name", "Heaven' officials blessings" and other stuff AND showing plot... Where THE MOST IMPORTANT STUFF IS ABOUT LOVE BETWEEN THOSE TWO BACKGROUND CHARACTERS... In "The song of Achilles" yes there is love, and yes some people show disgusting faces towards the main characters OH GOSHHHHH. But the book IS ABOUT ROMANCE, not the thriller, not the DoCuMeNtArY OR SOME SHIT LIKE THAT, ITS ONLY ROMANCE, and thats it. Madeline Miller decided to show more importanly love than how people hate Achilles and Patroclus. In the "Heaven's officials blessings" THERE IS LOVE, but Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (the author) didn"t put the inequality, the hatred towards the main characters who kiss their lovers of same gender. Why? BECAUSE IT'S NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE STORY. And Xie Lian (the main character) doesn't yell from right to the left how everyone hates him because he kissed Hua Cheng ... Most importantly HE DIDNT EVEN SAY THAT TO ANYONE... The "Heaven's officials blessings" is considered to be a bestseller because of that. Because we, as readers, dont need to know the inequality in the ancient China and how straight people ArE BaD.... Because its stupid, not interesting. We are interesting more on learning of the past, present and future of main characters.... not how they get spat on the faces because ThEy ArE DeViLs WhO KiSs TheIr bRo'S aSs.....
@@temmie1662finally someone who’s lgbtq and has common sense (btw i know ur not the only one I’m just saying there are way too many brainwashed lgbtq people so it’s refreshing to see someone who isn’t )
Saying C3PO is gay is like saying my vacuum cleaner is gay, doesn’t even make sense, he isn’t straight either, he’s a droid. They don’t even have genders, just different voice profiles.
Well droids are given masculine or feminine programming depending the tasks they are intended for. So no they don't have genders but C3-PO has masculine programming. But yeah a droid doesn't need to be straight or anything else cause they are simply droids programmed for certain tasks, any type of romance is pointless to them. It makes sense for a medical droid or nurse droid to have knowledge about genders but beyond that there is no need for them to have romance or relationships themselves.
nice work falling for misinformation, that clip where she says that is from 6 years ago, referring to a movie called 'the hate u give' about police brutality. and if you watch the entire clip and not the small bit this youtuber and other people have cut and put everywhere, you'll see that she explains herself, saying that what she wants is for them to feel empathy.
@fyreexe4121 Thanks for the info, but what she said is still not acceptable. She putting white people, as a whole, in a box and judging them based on a loud minority of their population. Every other racial group calls this racism when it happens to them.
@@littlehamham3281 thats just blatant ignorance, and seeing what u want to see. In the context of the movie and the other things she said in the interview she didnt really do anything wrong here she simply tried to tell the aim of a pretty well put together movie but this youtuber just spread misinformation that u bought into and he barely addressed it with a comment that only 700 people saw. This is kinda crazy because now the almost 300k people that saw it now think that people mentioned in this video are racist which is completely false.
@@Un_Abandoned Hey, actual white guy here that doesn't have several inches of black in his throat. What you're saying is a load of crap my dude. It's a crying shame that IPs are being ruined by people who are pushing propaganda while pretending they can write the content better than the original writers. Star Wars, the Witcher, Marvel, Lord of the Rings, all of it is being ruined by these people lol.
@@Un_AbandonedI’m also a white guy and I rarely get offended by racist comments but when people are like “I’m racist to white people but you can’t cancel me because you can’t be racist to white people” it annoys me soooo much especially if that person is really unlikable
as crazy and absurd as this statement sounds i can 100 % see them pulling out a rainbow lightsaber in an non ironic moment to kill off the patriarchy or w.e bs and the main stream media on their knees the next day sobbing super hard applauding them for being so "brave"
As a sapphic woman I think it’s rly weird that they focus so much on sexuality, like we’re already in every tv show chill let the straights get their pice too😭😭😭
Fr, shit is bizzare af. How is this acceptable? I hail from south-asia, and seeing these Hollywood elites pretending that ALL white people have somehow wronged them personally and then crying about how no one watches their stuff... like no shit you cunt, you make ideologically driven garbage, which NO ONE likes good thing star wars in the gutter, Disney can only keep trying to keep the dumpster fire going. Any passion i had for the Disney era is dead. the prequels, OT and legends is what i cling to now
what's worse is that it's being normalized. I'm not white either, but Trevor Noah laughing like an idiot at such a blatant show if racism has me fuming a bit
@@DORAisD34D That's not the point, Disney gets literal brownie points for pandering and producing ideologically driven garbage, and they use these brownie points to funnel in investor money. They only care about making money, never forget that. They'll plaster pride all over here for diversity points, and then censor gay and pride in countries where it might be 'controversial' and hurt business. They are the literal embodiment of evil, because the root of it is their sole motivation

I have heard poo in the loo 500 times but I have never once been as offended as seeing any kind of socio-political messages in IPs that I previously liked watching
The thing that really bothers me is no one would actually care if a character was gay, as long as it fit into their character and had some kind of reason for it being a trait for said character. People aren't just tired of gay characters, they are getting fed up with *all* poorly written characters with shoehorned traits, as if someone is using a check mark box to tick attributes for their characters instead of actually creating believable, interesting characters. Just write a good character... why is this so hard now? It's not because people don't want it, because they clearly do. Make flaws again, and not just for white male characters (of which nowadays, all of their flaws are ALL THE SAME. No one cares if a man is arrogant or cocky or doesn't understand the 'struggles of womanhood' in a movie. It's been done TOO MANY TIMES, and it was never enjoyable to watch imo). No one cares who or what your poorly written characters like to have sex with. No one cares about your poorly written characters, period. People want likable characters. Without likable characters, what do you have? You can have a tv show be about some of the worst people imaginable, but write their characters well and make them likable, then you have The Sopranos. It makes me sad.
It's also in my opinion not a good thing to boil someone down to a single trait of theirs, especially with sexuality. The fact that I like Dick as much as I like titties isn't even close to what defines me. Yet it felt like this huge critical thing hanging over me for a good amount of my life. It's not so much a big issue for adults, but for kids, many struggle with their identity. Especially in highschool. Like I said a moment ago, it felt like this huge deal and like I had to know/decide right then and there. Nowadays I just go with the flow and do whatever I feel like. But it definitely added to that "lost" feeling. Cause I couldn't really fit into any neat box or group like that. Of course, all that is basically kiddy shit that stays in the past. I just don't think it's healthy and seeing so many people in media portrayed that way can be detrimental.
@@evil993 It's just weird to me. I'm a woman, and I never felt like I needed to see a woman that was just like me in a movie or video game to feel immersed or relatable to a character. Most of my favorite characters are men, though I have a few female favorites as well. Idk, I feel like people's attitudes toward the entire point of media has fallen off the face of the Earth. What was once used to escape the issues of the real world is now used to force people to be constantly reminded about all the things going on. Some of my favorite series have no romance or sex involved at all. It simply just shouldn't matter when it comes to "representation," because it's so meaningless. Who cares? There is literally only *one* of you on Earth. No one can truly represent you better than you can :)
@@RedPaintSpray yeah I agree with you there. I do appreciate that there are probably some things I couldn't fully understand without having a certain background. But it always came off as really weird to me when people act like you can't relate or even see yourself in a character simply because they don't look like you. Especially given with literature there often isn't even a standard/set in stone depiction of a character. You might get descriptions of them, but even then, sometimes you don't. Or they aren't super detailed. It would be one thing if there was an active attempt made to fully suppress such minority characters from media. But that just doesn't seem to be the case. I'd be curious to know what someone who feels strongly about that feels like media SHOULD look like. Like, what would the end goal be/what would it look like in movies or whatever? If we aren't representative enough today.
Yeah, they are saying that we need to like these characters just because they have different taste on relationships or are black, women, trans, non binary, etc. I mean it’s not social media, they are fictional characters and their main goals are to be coherent with the story and make us be empathetic, not just being gay or lesbian. Just because a character is something, it doesn’t mean we have to like it. For example, Iris West from The Flash is one of the good guys and the love interest for the main character but everyone hates her. Other example is Rey, she is one of the most hated character because she doesn’t have a coherent development and is Disney’s way of saying that Anakin was irrelevant and she became the new Chosen One. All this with the excuse of the Force or that she is the woke protagonist. These big companies are not thinking with their heads, more like they are thinking for something that nobody in their sane mind cares. If what they want is money then they are nit getting it. The consumer is the main factor for success, if nobody buys your products then there is no success. They are killing Star Wars and maybe we should just let it die for good. Look for something new and that has coherent writing without woke agendas.
@@evil993it should be about making good quality content. Don’t have agendas ,or all this other stuff majority of people, don’t even care about at all. Focus on making good characters and a good story. Make some characters not that relatable, but have them be amazing in the movie and people can still enjoy and love them. The Boys and Invincible are imo the best current shows. They represent everyone but it’s not forced. It’s also all part of the story and actually adds to it. We learn more about our characters over time just not all at once. Mixing different characters and personalities together. As long as they have a good story and script. It doenst matter what kinda character it is. With the right story it’ll be good and enjoyable. Star Wars the original 6 and clone wars were like that. Amazing good story and fleshed out characters without the nonsense. Maybe we need to go back to story telling like that. Movies and shows like Star Wars, wolf of Wall Street, alien, adventure time, the dark knight. Because a lot of the older stuff is way better than the newer stuff.
Bro, two men can't even be friends without people thinking they're gay. I've seen it with Snoopy and Woodstock and Ernie and Burt too. Like, BRO, NOT EVERY PAIR OF MEN IS GAY!
Even if someone says that two male friends don't always have to be gay, most people's response is just "it's my HC!" Or "you when people have fun: 😡" or some other bs that makes you look like a homophobe when your not. :/ and it's rlly frustrating. Nowadays, ppl don't even care abt a story's plot and js start shipping random characters.
@@ImGoingInsaine_help and alot more like Genya x Tanjiro, Genya x Muichiro, Zenitsu x Tanjiro, Tanjiro x Inosuke, Douma x Akaza, Muzan x Yoriichi, Satoru x Suguru, Madara x Hashirama, Tobirama x Madara, Tobirama x Izuna, Iruka x Kakashi. And so much more 😭 ppl js don't care about the characters actual relationship (e.g. friends, enemies, allies, etc) they js ship them together and put tropes that wouldn't even apply to the characters if they actually think about it. (E.g. enemies to lovers, rairpairs) Rairpairs don't even make sense at all, ppl js put together two random characters and call it a ship, and don't even put to mind how the characters would actually act if they met.
You probably saw the conveniently short clip of that fire. It's not a fire burning in space, it's a high pressure gas leak under some sci-fi components that's on fire because of a small explosion.
@@OhSoTiredMan "Wasn't a gay show in the first place." Is such a goofy thing to say. Something doesnt need to be a "Gay show" to have gay people. The problem isn't that it isn't a "Gay show" its that you think that all shows with gay people are centered around the fact that they are gay because its so common. We are just humans. I have no agenda. I just want to fucking live and chill and love and play videogames and shit.
I'm pretty sure it was just a joke on how people were already assuming there were going to gay themes in a show before it was released but if you watch the show there is nothing like that
I don't even like star wars, but i feel so bad for all the fans of this epic franchise. I have so much respect for star wars and i know how much it hurts to see something you love with all your heart get so brutally butchered.

We have bad movies with straight characters, so we can have bad movies with gay characters. That’s all it is, don’t let anti wokes fool you. Even if the movie was good they’d still complain about the gays in it
@@DORAisD34Dyes, but most of the shows that are pushing an agenda flop. That's why people don't like it. Not because everyone hates the gays and representation. We just want everything to fit the way it should, not have random parts of the show which should be insignificant (like gay couples or race) be the main focus. Why can't we just be people?
@@DORAisD34D Disagree. “Dog Day Afternoon” featured gay characters and it’s a masterpiece. “Philadelphia” featured gay characters and won multiple awards, including two Oscars. “Bound”, “Kiss of The Spider Woman”, “The Crying Game”, “Boondock Saints”, and “Moonlight” featured gay or lesbian characters. All of those films were highly praised by audiences and critics; they were excellent. Audiences don’t like movies/t.v. shows not because it features gay people, but because they’re garbage.
Amandla has been in Hollywood for a while she acted as Rue in hunger games. These interviews reinforce me belief that child actors shouldn't be pushed because they can have their beliefs manipulated by the big name actors and producers. It's a shame that star wars has fallen I loved some of Disney's star wars projects like Andor, Rebels, Rogue one and Mando season 1 and 2,but the bad outways the good.
12:58 So, if I punch you, you punch me. Then I punch you, you punch me, I punch, you punch, I punch, you punch... And both are dead. How does returning the exact same thing make you any better?
I’m in the LGBTQIA, and I do agree some of the people in this movement are oddly fetishizing the concept of being gay. It’s really cringe. I genuinely don’t like when big studios force in a gay character without them having a reason or any reason to be gay. I feel like if you’re gonna write a gay character, do it in a meaningful way that actually affects the story. Don’t just say a character is gay and have a couple kiss scenes. Actually make it worth the audience’s time and effort and get them invested. Basically don’t half ass the support, and don’t make every character gay to “support” us. We don’t want a gay character if it doesn’t mean anything and can be something that could be easily changed and not affect the story.
Ikr? It just feels like a stereotype at this point. Don’t they know that black people wear many different hairstyles than the cheetos one that we keep seeing a lot? For people who love diversity so much and make it their whole personality, they sure don’t look at the various different hairstyles that black men wear.
I was honestly excited when it seemed like the socially conservative element of our society was losing it's iron grip on media and politics. It only took a few years for me to realize that the socially progressive element was just as petty, vindictive, and thoroughly mediocre, but you will be gaslit and called bigot if you don't like what the 'girlbosses' do.
imagine being an OG star wars fan, waiting in long lines outside the cinema, reading all the novels and watching the prequels, only for your grandson to show you a clip of a star wars leading actress calling you gay
I love when these corporations are fishing for infinite money, they are actually paying consulting agencies telling them that the first step is to drive out the majority of their consumer base. I'm sure this will yield dividends! Also it's true there's no such thing as reverse racism. It's called racism
im not a starwars guy but yeah they have to change beloved characters make them gay they have to push these movements in movies and shit and if she said the same thing about black people or any other race other than white she would have been getting cancelled like crazy BRO NOT EVERYTHING IS GAY HOLY SHIT
The reason these people don't create their own new IP is because they KNOW that it won't succeed on its own merit. They need established IPs like Star Wars that have a built-in fan base so they can hijack it and push their agenda.
they also dont have the skill, ability, or dedication to create something worthwhile. so if they made an IP it would be horrid. they probably know this deep down so they wont try just make excuses
@@jxanniiename one instance of a character from pop fiction being whitewashed and that character being in a multi billion dollar successful franchise. And fun fact: cleopatra wasn’t black!

i hate when the whole selling point is lgbtq in tv shows and it give them a reason to avoid making good shows make the lead lgbtq+ and boom cant make fun of the show because lgbtq
I'm only going to speak on the gayness part, and I'd like to speak on behalf of all sane LGBTQ+ people by saying that we do not think like this. I don't like this new thing of making everyone gay or stuff like that. Hollywood and these big production companies need to learn what over-representation is. A few years ago, I loved the occasional representation, but now it's just frustrating. There is such as thing as too much representation of minorities, and now it's everywhere. Thx for reading this if you read all of it :)
These people see a proper robot who has a robot as a best friend and these people see that as a relationship. Wow. Also, how is R2, a robot, a lesbian??
man easy solution is to just ignore these people. these people grow up extremely sheltered and start crying the second things dont go their way. us critisizing their work gives them purpose in a sense that "hah im fighting the society, im fighting the homophobes". They create enemies and haters for them in a world where there are none.
I hate to defend Amandla but "It's meant to make white people cry" is about a film she did called 'The Hate You Give' about how the blacks in America are unfairly treated by police meant to humanize the blacks. So I'm not sure why your trying to associate it with this Star Wars stuff. It's very sus of you. Clearly you have alterior motives in posting this meant to get people as riled up as you are about a bunch of nothing.
The fact this is being filmed in Madeira (Which is an island next to my country, Portugal) just makes me truly sad. As soon as the news showed what seemed like an orange lightsaber and green ones, I already knew the lore was messed up and just left the room.
2000s - The emo trend 2010s - The random xd trend 2020s - The gay trend Its just the newest social trend. Soon it will die off and regular gay people will just act normally like how they used to for thousands of years
I used to be woke, and how I escaped it was a long and Intellectual conversation with my mother, I then started watching things online going deeper into the topic and realized it was not the way to live, and how it was ruining all of our favorite things, oh, and it made me realize some people I'm friends with weren't do good after all
You are aware that this interview on the Trevor Noah show is 6 years old and has nothing to do with Star Wars, right? It's about the movie "The Hate U Give", a movie about a black boy getting shot by the police for holding a comb. The goal of the movie was to garner empathy. The "white people crying" she is talking about is white people crying because the movie made them empathetic towards these problems some black people face, not because the movie was supposed to piss them off. You would know that if you watched the full interview, it's only like 6 minutes long. Context matters and it's clearly a joke, just like the statement "C3PO is gay" was clearly a joke. In the first two episodes of the Acolyte, the only two episodes available as of now, there is no mention of anyone being gay, no social commentary, nothing woke in the slightest and still people are losing their minds without even having watched it. SPOILER: afaIk, the only "woke" things that are confirmed to happen in the show is that one woman is a lesbian and the force is supposedly female, but these episodes are not even out yet and we have no clue how that will play out, or how much that will factor into the story, if it does at all. I am all for criticizing woke themes being pushed into games, series or movies, but the witch hunt that's been going on with this show is baffling and exaggerated to the max. So much taken out of context, so many bad faith arguments, so much nit-picking. At least wait until there is something actually "woke" in the show before you start criticizing it for being woke.
As a gay man this show is some bullshit. Yes, gay people should be represented but not by derailing an entire story to focus on it. For example the legend of Korra, is an incredible show with a gay MC but they don't derail the plot. But personally I don't give a shit wether characters are gay or not just MAKE AN ENTERTAINING SHOW.
the horseshoe effect is absolutely going on with regard to identity in current year. and the most nefarious part of it IMO is that it is all fake and performative. if there was no way to demonstrate that kind of behavior on social media, etc.... no one would be doing it. it is a matter of social currency and some imaginary notion of ideal purity that has ironically led to a great deal of prejudice and racism.
