Here are two ways that can fix this 1. Give them an unlock pack when the events released 2. For the Midseason Racers Box, they should let us have a choice of using 500 blue tokens, 1 Season Box Token, or maybe 100,000 season coins
And another thing, vary the chances of getting racer shards based on their racer class. For example, Ennui should've had like a 30%-40% of getting shards with each box because she's a Common racer. Anxiety should've been around 20%-25% because she's a Rare racer. And Cruella De Vil should have kept a 10%-15% because she's an Epic racer.
I think just in general, Speedstorm has become such a huge disaster. Not only has the game itself started to get boring, but just seeing how much Gameloft is expecting us to gamble over a midseason character, is getting out of control. This is why players are LEAVING. Because they don't want to be forced to pay over a character. Gameloft really needs to rethink their choices, but then yet, they really don't.
Tia Dalma’s events suck as well. I will be able to unlock her this Friday but not everyone is going to finish the season tour and have enough medals to unlock her in that way. It’s just unfair.
I don't have ortensia, Ursula or cruella so I am SOL. I've gotten the vaults and season passes 4 of the 5 last months so im stuck at 5 shards for tia dalma.
Here’s how I would make the mid season events, make it like the vault pass cups. Three cups, one newcomer, one advanced, one expert. Use any character you want. Complete all three to get all of the shards and unlock the character It’s not too easy or too hard. And then on top of that, add the extra bonus missions like requiring specific characters to get bonus rewards.
That's actually a good idea. Mid-Season Tournaments the behaves just like the Collection Tournaments. You get a choice of a few Mid-Season Racers. If you want it, you have to do its Rookie, Pro and Super Cups. Each Cup gives you its rewards. You can use ANY Racer you have as long as it meets the Cup conditions. Rewards can be either; Racer Shards, Crew Shards, Cosmetics, Currency and even those Gacha Capsules. UI/UX should looks just like the Collection Tournaments but more unique and fancy enough that it makes sense for it to be time limited.
This season feels terrible for me. Not only am I not a fan of pirates but the fact that everything feels so predatory with the way they kinda twist your arm just to be able to get a character. I used to play every day since it became free to play & some of the main reason I started to play in the first place was because I saw Meg & Mulan were playable and Jasmine was going to be included. But now it’s been such a chore that I haven’t played in a few days and I’m not sure if I’ll even bother to play at all this season. If things doesn’t change by the time nightmare before Christmas drops, I don’t think I’ll be playing again and that sucks because at it’s core it’s a really fun game that I used to enjoy very much.
Thank you for the video, I hope somebody at Gameloft really sees this. The saddest part of all is the disappointment they're causing in all those people with emotional connections to these characters, as you well said. It is truly a disgrace that something as pure and joyful as Disney has been stained with this.
I had Davy Jones, Sulley, Minnie and Ortensia unlocked and did everything I could playing the Davy Jones challenge daily however I was only able to unlock 5 shards in total. Speedstorm sucks this season around. It's only about spending as much money as you can now.
It's been a week I've stop playing Disney Speedstorm after player almost every single day for over a year, and spending I would say 200$, what a relief. It was some kind of addiction due to the fomo of missing some gotcha every day, but I actually feel way more relieved since I stopped. I suggest everyone trying to stop for a week or two, and then judge for themselves. And good luck Gameloft for the money
Glad to see your back but yeah I definitely agree the events need change and fast if they don’t make a change soon this game is just going to fade out of existence
The 1% of the player base that are whales are more profitable to the developer than the other 99% of players. There is no room for fun when there is profit to be made.
I spent like $30 on her box cause Cruella is one of my favorite villains. And I didn’t get a single shard. So I grinded 3 racers to UC and got enough tokens for a box. And that box I actually hit the jackpot getting 15 Cruella shards and 4 jasper shards. But still this is absolutely ridiculous. I shouldn’t have to grind racers to UC so that I have a chance at unlocking another character. The $30 should have been enough. The only thing funding this game at this point is whales that get a level 50 Cruella in like 3 hours of her release.
I mean I did used up my 504 tokens on cruella and managed to unlock her but this whole mid season events in every season was just getting more worse for f2p like pay more money for box and get one to 9 shards is just so bad like why would do this to mid season characters? I am so glad you back
I quit playing today. One of my favorite things in the game has been unlocking characters. I’ve been around since Monsters Inc. and these limited events have become terrible. Unlocks should be guaranteed if you are present for them. Even with a form of currency. I couldn’t unlock these limited characters. I’ve been unlucky. With this kind of monetization. It’s not worth playing anymore. Even if I’m paying for season passes. It’s been atrocious.
It's difficult to do some races since they are tied to certain characters, and they need to be certain levels 🙄 and getting the necessary resources to level them up can be very difficult or expensive. Getting a maxed out lv.50 racer will take months or a few 100 dollars 💸 Its Crazy 😢
It's like the Mega Powerball this game when it comes to unlocking racers. Like even if the Epic Racers have a higher percentage drop rate of shards to unlock from capsules to spending tokens, you're more likely to get Common racer shards which so happen to have LOWER percentage drop rate. RIDICULOUS!!! And there's no way of earning tokens without grinding through MPR per racer. I'm a 100% f2p player and have never spent a cent on this game and never will. I just keep my season coins till the end of the season for them to convert to tokens. Game is depressing 😕
I also noticed a heavy drop in motivation to play the game after this really bad mid season event. If they continue like this they will manage to destroy the game completely.
I do love Speedstorm. Racing with these characters and seeing all the new tracks and such is always fun to me, but by the gods, the greed is very much on pair with Disney. I had every character for this event unlocked and ready to go, which was NOT easy, and I still only got 6 shards, even with the Sully capsule giving me 3 shards. Which after reading the comment section I am greatful I got any at all from that! I get that it is a gotach game, I understand the point is to make money. Honestly though, I'd be more wiling to spend money if they just made this events more realistic. This is getting eye-rolling ridiculous at this point and I can't even bring myself to be hopeful for the next one. I'm just feeling like I need to ignore the mid-season characters which makes me all jaded and question playing. It's hard to be excited when I KNOW I'm going to fail, period.
I honestly wouldn't care so much if these mid-season characters weren't required to unlock any other characters or a requirement for a chapter node. If they were purely optional characters, make all the gotcha boxes you want. But it sucks to be a player from the beginning and not being able to unlock a character because I'm not paying more money. The golden pass changes were bad enough, now this. Super disappointed with these events.
The moment cruella was impossible without loot box I lost interest. If you are selling a season pass you need to be able to get most of the season characters ( including the bonus ones ) maybe just have one that is paid
Midseason events is going to make me quit the game. I don't like to gamble, I don't gamble. I raced every day for And honestly played twice per day to get cruella. I got one 1 shard. if this game is going to continue to unlock mid season characters I'm done. And honestly the 10% on the "gambling" mechanic spending $5 is no... no...
This season has been disengaging. The expanded pirate track is lackluster, the pirate characters are boring, and mid season is an epic disaster. I'm not sure I will stick with it for too much longer. I miss the game I used to feel was a rewarding challenge.
Yeah. A few of the expanded pirate maps are just going around in circles. Feels like they didn't want to spend too much time designing the maps , did the bare minimum and called it a day.
I wouldn’t really call the characters boring cause Barbossa and Tia Dalma do genuinely have unique and interesting play styles and then Davy Jones is just op as heck and fun to use. You could make the argument for Will Turner but his play style is just not every player’s favorite
I disagree on the racers being boring, but I'd agree that it's just not exciting. Imagine the season like this: Season called "Villains season" Main new racers: Maleficent, Cruella, Barbossa, Davy Jones Mid season racers: Will and Tia New track: Maleficent's Castle This would be much more exciting with minimal changes to the season.
That's the reason why I'm going to skip the second part of this season completely. Next season I'll see if anything changed but I'm not much into The Nightmare Before Christmas, so idk.
The recent FOMO and carrot on a stick methods of increasing revenue are very disappointing. I'm willing to give games $ if they respect me as a player.
It seems like that since mobile launch where they nerfed the requirements for season tour chapters they have increased the difficulty in obtaining mid-season racers.
I didn't have Minnie, so I got 2 shards with Sulley and Ortensia. Then I played that event everyday, and haven't gotten a single extra shard. I'm seriously thinking of quitting this game.
same situation here... this was the worst event till now... that kind of hope, that make you play every day, but at the end, you get nothing. Very frustrating event.
If I didn't spend $50 on her box, I would have only 5 shards for Cruella from the event. I got more crew shards than racer shards. I feel the only way they can fix this is to go back to how it was in Early Access: a regulated race that gives you the characters just for participating in the race. I hope that they have a Villains Unlock Event come October where we can get all the villains (including Cruella) character shards. But that's assuming that GameLoft actually cares about their player base...
Hi Skyliner I absolutely agree with you. I dont even feel like playing anymore. I have been a day 1 player for this game. I even bought the 80.00 pass when it came out.
I wanted this to be my last (half) season since I used my last season coin and planned to play all the way through but it's just so... uninteresting I quit early..it just can't hold my attention the way it used to. I haven't plated in about 2 weeks. It's good to know I'm not actually missing anything
YES! I thought this the other day, what I wish is that we got the old season boxes back but obviously with a reduced chance of getting the premium character, therefore everyone would have atleast access to the mid season racer or get as many shards possible for them
I don’t know why Gameloft is doing this now. There are people who can’t even afford money to unlock one mid season racer. I wish the time trial events go back to how they were at the very beginning where in top 100% you are guaranteed to have the character unlocked. It would be nice to get some more free shards for Maleficent just like the older events, but I don’t think that’s happening anytime soon. At least give us the objectives like the EVE event. But give free to play players a chance. I’m just gonna stick with only buying the golden passes and the vault passes.
Just because I decided not to buy this Seasonal Pass, I can not unlock none: for Cruella I have to pay and without both Cruella and Davy Jones I can not unlock Tia Dalma because both these character are necessary to have at least 205 medals. I'll get 204, then there's only a medal between me and Tia Dalma 😭...I am so sad, I worked hard just to realize that I'll never have none but Orlando Bloom's character. IT'S SO UNFAIR! 😭
I took a break once she was released. I was really looking forward to her and her event was enough to turn me off from this game. So i got no shards for her. From now on im just going to focus on maxing out my Aladin collection. i could careless about future mid season racers.
Same people would complain if the game was to shut down because of no support. The game is free to play. Support the game and it should stick around. You don’t need cruella to play this game.
It was disappointing. I had nothing but bad luck trying to unlock Cruella. I did the event with Davy Jones every day it was a available, but earned 0 shards for it.
It's why I quit until they shape up they KEEP MAKING EVERYTHING AS PAY TO WIN AS POSSIBLE it's fucked up and sad a game with zero free2play is a game that will die
Though I still have goals I want to reach with this game, my drive to play this game has been dwindling as well, to be honest, due to how things have been handled in general. From Ennui's event to Born Brilliant and its 7.5% chance at getting a Cruella shard from playing Davy Jones, it's been very bad to the point where you are encouraged to spend even more money, but on the flip side, though I have been spending a lot less money on this game lately, I don't have a problem spending some here and there, but still, the more I play this game, the less I see any point in spending any money on it. While Gameloft is at least making more cosmetics available for purchase (for either tokens or Vanity Coins), they also need to redo how they handle midseason characters because there are players who want to have the entire roster at their disposal, as well as players whose favorite characters are all midseason characters, and they won't get to play as them because they either got paid too late or can't afford them at all. In times like these, a full-time job would be very useful.
I personally think the worst part is midseason racers are mostly one-off franchises. If I like a franchise/film like Wall-E then Im out of luck. Tho if I like the film in the seasonal tour at least I do get at least one racer. I think we need more even franchise/film character distribution. For example, Buzz is rare but we can get Woody with less trouble. Thats ok with me because they have to make money on something.
I haven’t played at all this season I feel like all this game is now is you have to pay any kind of money before you can fully enjoy the game I wish this game never went free to play it would have been so much better then what it is now I don’t know if I will play next season
I think this is probably the first time I've felt extremely demotivated to play Speedstorm. I've actually been skipping out on some events as a result too. I'm not exactly hopeful things will turn around but I'm curious to see how far Gameloft goes in this direction before stopping.
The mid season events for this season are total failures but they’re worth it. The bad part was that I have to pay to win for them. That the suck part. I still love the game. Also the old mid season racers cost 900 tokens which is bad as well. Hope next season will be better after part 2 of this season.
I wouldn't mind grafting to earn a new character. But won't be spending a penny while they use this current model. It's a shame. They need new tracks as well. So so many new characters but the race courses are getting very repetitive in my opinion.
the only way to fix this is to get rid of boxes alltogether, and wipe out gacha boxes. im sorry a vast majority of the community dont want to spend money on the game at all really, they might buy a pass or they wont buy a thing, so having a unlock box, wont help- if they put the racer at $30 people still wont buy it. gl are doing well with the game tho so it wont change any time soon sadly
this makes me feel so good couse i did quit in the begining of this season couse of Gameloft F-ing it up all the time, i had enough. so hearing that it is getting worse makes me feel good of my decision but i don't feel good that this great game got taken down by greedy suits and greedy people. there is a reason why i think free games is not always a good idea, this is why couse then they have to go soo much greed
The Ennui Event was frustrating enough to not compete. The Cruella Event was a nuisance that unlocking the new Racer is literally down to RNG and having PAST Mid-Season Racers. Not everyone has them. I only need like 2-4 Racers Shards to unlock Oswald and Ortensia for crying out loud! I literally JUST completed The Little Mermaid Collection after unknowingly completed a node in the Season Tour that rewarded me with unlocking the one annoying Racer that keeps taunting my Daily Selects Shop - Ariel. I know she is a hero, but damn... she looks sinister from her icon.Good thing I just got my Frozen Racers up to Level 30. So I can move on from that.
Honestly, I know for certain the game isn't going to change or revert back to the old system; so if they really wanted to keep the gacha nosense they can easily do this: An event comes out for a week to unlock a mid-season racer, but instead of just having one event and that's it, you cant't get them, you instead get to play as the character early. Whenever it be by 1 week or 2. The people who gamble, play with luck and spend money get the character early and can get some advantage against other players. Plus, they'll be able to earn the cosmetics from the time trials as well. After the time is up, all other players are then presented an option to buy an unlock pack to get the character. Both sides are then pleased. The whales get to dump all their money and get a maxed out character before anyone else and those who didn't want to gamble can spend money to unlock the character a week or two later.
I did like that there were capsules for Cruella’s event but they should make those so it’s an almost guaranteed to get shards for the future mid season racers and I also have a bug where objectives don’t check off even if I have it on the right difficulty and with the right character where I do all the requirements (that happened with Sulley’s objective on the event)
Cruella Event made me actually uninstall the game after seing the capsules for 2 days, so well done Gameloft, bet im not the only one. The game wants 10 EUR per month, but lets be honest, the content for the price is more than a joke and with mid season racers behind pay wall, they push even more players away. I did play this game since day 2 of release last year, and its just so disappointing to see what route this game went
Like for me personally I don’t know like OK for me and the relationship with the game it’s it’s a roller coaster. Sometimes I love the game and sometimes I play the game and sometimes I get very tired of the game I love the game but like sometimes I need a break because the midseason events get me frustrated and stuff and like I don’t like for me like I’m just waiting for the nightmare before Christmas season that’s it. I am starting college second year tomorrow and honestly what I always do is that I always play the game on Fridays and the weekends when I’m free
They should have made unlocking and leveling up characters through playing the game. Use the store for cosmetic items only. This way the game doesn't feel like a giant black hole that sucks up your money, if you want to level up anyway.
To me it’d be smarter business to have everyone be able to unlock all characters for free and then maybe people might be willing to buy some cosmetics or upgrades for them. Obviously I’m not supporting any type of pay to win I just mean this is a free to play game where we’re having to pay to play.
I did a day by day series to see if I could unlock her. I was able to finally get like 2 shards from the looping objective on Day 8. The leaderboard event was about to expire, and my last resort was to spend $20 in hopes of some shards anyway. I luckily pulled the last 5 shards from the first opening. Probably wouldn’t have Cruella otherwise. Since I had extra tokens I just used them to get Tia. I don’t know what they have planned after TNBC, but I feel this game will die soon if they don’t change the game structure. I already juggle other games, but once DB Sparking is released I’ll prob be off this.
there's so many things wrong with this game that its just annoying at this point. If GL just listened to the community and didnt ignore us then this game would be better on a whole other level.
last 2 days of the event i had 4 capsules drop no cruella shards, leaving me at 9 shards. had to pull from her box 4 times before i got 10 shards in one pull. i think after the nightmare before christmas season im out.
I had to spend money on the last day of the time trial event because i only got 1 shard from doing the daily. Fuk Gameloft doing these money focused events.
I took one look at the requirements for Cruella and I noped the hell out if there. The only thing I have going for me is the star chaser events, where I can get a new character and play to Platinum. After that, there's nothing else for me with this game. And considering Gameloft as it is (I've come from the Asphalt days), it will get worse. Much worse.
Well i have Minnie, Sully and Ortensia und even Davy Jones. I did the races with Davy every day and in the end i Had a total of 7 shards for cruella. Thats a real Joke. Because of Multiplayer races i Had 2000 coins and bought 4 cruella boxes and No shards. And they even more tricked me. The Event should end at 12.00 in my Timezone today so i Made Sure ro use my 2 new chances this morning around 9 (the 21 houre colldown was away at that time) and the Event was already removed. Its auch a Joke.

basically 2 free characters per season and 4 paid characters,that dont sound evan to me🤔,and the percentage in the gatcha boxes is joke i opened 12 boxes on her last day and got 10 shards thats it, there fixed or bugged so we spend 100 and 100s on it. its like saying to the poorer or the people who carnt afford much sorry we dont care about you we only care about the the whales, this game is getting closer and closer to loosing more and more players,its already black listed and they dont seem to care about that.
I was only able to get 6 shards shards for Carella’s event so I thought I’d get more but didn’t through the whole week. This is kinda why I feel mid season racers shouldn’t be a thing it’s unfair for half the community to be left out just because we can’t unlock them, I don’t see anything wrong with saying these mid season racers are bad cause they are but do feel like Carella Devill’s event was just almost perfect just the drop rate was still to low and crew members are to high on the rates I unlocked her golden crew and almost didn’t get her paying $20 and almost lost hope till my final pull and she popped up but left me with a bad taste in my mouth cause they feel like gambling cash garbs. :/
