Only because the Japanese are very clean and responsible. Still will never support Disney. They just got caught with human trafficking, and SA before that. Disney needs to close down permanently.
Bayou Adventure is the biggest disaster in Disney history. They gutted the heart and pride of Disneyland for a shameless corporate merchandising shill. It has zero plot, villain, climax, a quarter of the animatronics and articulation on average, and a completely forgettable finale song. Do yourselves a favor and only give your money to Tokyo Disney, outside the grasp of Bob Iger.
Not only that but prince and the frogs villan dr facliar and his are you ready song wasn’t included that was a whole other level at least include what made the movie good
I agree, they really dropped the ball with Tiana‘s Bayou adventure. They could’ve added Dr.faciler in the whole voodoo thing, they should’ve made the Lyft hill with a Dr. facilier and are you going up the last lift hill? You would hear his song friends on the other side and you would see an animatronic of him on the side and right after he says the word side that that’s when you would drop
I saw You tube videos of it ,much as I loved the movie having been raised in La . The ride looked boring... I was like ,thats it ? (And I haven't been in Amusement park since the early parks ) I wasn't impressed.
They didn't even have the best part of Princess and the frog in the ride. Friends on the other side was the only song from that anyone remembers and Dr Facillia was the stand out character of the movie but no we can't have the awesome Voodoo Guyana his shadow army because offensive or something? Dumb
Taking out the "Song of the South" characters is not only an insult to those with slave heritage (movie is set in post-Civil War South) but is deleting history along with some of the smartest characters.
Song of the South is a great family movie that is NOT racist. The actors in the movie said so themselves. Walt did everything to make sure it was not in any way racist. Splash Mountain was a piece of history, both American and African, that was loved by many people. Disney is lost and very deluded. I'd even go so far as to say it has become anti-American. And if you think Iger is just going to walk away when the new board installs his replacement, you should really think again.
I'd even go so far as to say it has become anti-American. now you get it, Disney is one of the largest statues of Americana and is known world wide and it takes time to pull down a statue that big, brownshirt "useful fools" and ropes isn't going to cut it.
I agree, there was nothing racist about that movie, the guy that played uncle Remus a.k.a. James basket won a lot of awards for that movie and honestly no one got offended by the ride. No one made a big deal and said oh splash Mountain is racist. We should get rid of it. No one said that, this generation of people have probably never seen song of the south anyway
@@BobothePirate24 care to explain? I'm in the UK. It's absolutely standard to refer to husband/wife or boyfriend/girlfriend as partner. In fact, might be the default.
We are planning a trip this November……..we went last year for the first time. We are huge disney fans but the Tokyo is closest to what WDW was when it opened. It gets crowded but fast passes are still free, cast members are friendly and helpful.
If sanity ever returns to Disney, I hope they hire these Japanese imagineers to bring the real Splash Mountain back. I still say Tiana always should have had a themed full-service restaurant. That was her big dream in her movie. It is only fitting, and would be an excellent opportunity to give the kids some princess time and give the parents' feet a break.
A popular Disneyland shill couldn't gush enough over the new ride. However, he was confused by the story, or lack thereof. Then he said the story doesn't matter. Story doesn't matter in Disneyland? From everything I've heard and read the story was everything to Walt. There is no respect for the past, or Walt. And, no idea of what has made Disneyland successful and beloved.
Think I know who your talking about. This person doesn't have the history in his life that some of us older fans do that have been going for decades and know Walts believes. This person your talking about said also he was just happy to have the ride back even though you could tell he wasn't over enthusiastic about it. I guess he has to keep his supporters happy so they'll keep giving to his channel.
@carmel1631 Are you talking about WDW Today? He seemed like a reasonable guy, and now he seems like he does what he can to stay in Disney's good graces.
I can't wait to ride "Splash Mountain" again! I'm flying to Tokyo on Friday. I'll be in Disneyland on Sunday. I will try to buy up anything I can there. Let me know if you need well-shot B-roll footage. I'll donate and upload all you want! I'm sooo excited to see this again!
For what it's worth, we are ap for Disney World and recently have heard "laughing place" instrumental at Magic Kingdom. We started cheering and singing😂🎉
I'm glad i have Song of the south on DVD, I'm glad i have ridden the original splash many times, I'm glad i got to see it being built and I'm glad i don't support this present company now. I am sad though that this is all happening to Walts legacy. 😢
I think they should revise copyright law, to where if a company decides they purposefully don’t want to associate with a character anymore and disassociate from/don’t want to use it, that it automatically transfers to public domain
Eiger is doing his job. His primary objective is to destroy Disney, and all its manifestations. The Japanese Disney World is far to successful. So it was in evitable that he was going to get around to trying to put as much pressure on them as possible and take as much from them as possible. I’m sure it is no end of trepidation for Eiger That he has no direct control of the property itself. If he did, he would probably close it completely. This is not about pleasing the fans. The fans are irrelevant. This is about destroying a property that has brought joy and inspiration and togetherness to millions for 100 years. Disney must go, and that is the primary thrust of Eger and his cronies. In that respect, he’s doing a bang up job.
If any movie deserves a remake, it would be Song of the South. They always talk about updating movies for a modern audience. Well, it would make a lot of sense for this one.
@@bettysteve322716 I understand your point but this isn't about Tarzan or any other movie. Basically, Song of the South has been hidden in the vault for decades because of some scenes that are now considered racist. But the overall story and characters were fine. If they remade the movie with the questionable scenes removed, then they'd have a legit movie with the braer characters and the Splash Mountain theme would connect better with the audiences. And no more controversy.
At this point, I don’t want the to remake anything. Not until they’ve replaced the entire board, the exec team, and most of everyone else. Maybe if Elon would buy it…😂
Honestly, how fiscally irresponsible does a company have to be to push this issue on another, especially if you’re right about there being nothing they can legally do to literally force OLC to close down Splash Mountain? The fact of the matter is TBA was a failure on all fronts. They weren’t able to get the majority of people on board with the implicit reasons why Splash Mountain “needed” to go nor was the final product seen as good enough in the eyes of most to justify the change outside of those reasons. Even under the current Bob Iger regime that can never admit to any real failure, the company could at the very least quietly dissolve the Stories Matter group that designed the attraction, put a stop to any more of their recommended changes to the parks, leave OLC alone and do their best to move away from this sort of drama with their future projects. The fact that they seemingly refuse to do any of this in TBA’s aftermath is insane and anyone with any meaningful stake in the company should be demanding for heads to roll.
I think the change made sense for Disneyland where it can tie in with New Orleans Square but I think they should have left Splash Mountain alone in Magic Kingdom & they should definitely leave the one in Tokyo as is.
They need to shut down the awful versions in the US and put something else in its place. It must use the old tech because the new tech does not work when surrounded by water which it is because it is a water ride. They also need to make a ride especially for Tiana and it has to be a storybook experience which everyone wanted to see. And the company has so much land, they could create a section just for Tiana's Bayou/New Orleans. Also lets hope the new leadership comes in order to stop them from blasting and dredging the Rivers of America and TSI out of existence.
@@puttinontheritzcrackers3301 They already have it. They could have the Riverboat make stops in the new land. Its already in theme. And Tiana’s New Orleans could have 2 rides. 1 the storybook for children and a Dr. Facilier roller coaster for teens and adults. The roller coaster could let everyone out near the entrance to Villains land.
If the characters are actually taken from African folklore, then Disney shouldn't have ownership of them. So Tokyo should be able to continue using the characters, albeit in the original, non-Disney form.
Hey Disney if you disown Song of the South why not make it public domain? Oh wait because you can't. Not until you erase everything related to the film
Am i missing something, but why is this song/movie so popular all of a sudden. I've never heard of it until the whole Tiana fiasco. I never knew Splash Mountain was even based on a movie. Do normies even care about this?
I was at Tokyo Disneyland the month it opened. I have been back to visit Tokyo Disneyland many times over each decade. What you're missing here is that Disney only owns 15% of the investment at Tokyo Disneyland. You are reading into this only on the surface, maybe the drama is better. The Japanese don't give a hoot what Disney wants, Disney paid nothing, and Disney only gets 15% of the profits. Disney has admitted several times that their greatest mistake was the OLC deal. Thus, HKDL was structured in a very different way. The Japanese don't really care what Disney wants, they will do what is right for their own company. Vash is really not aware of what he is talking about, and please cut the drama. How many times has Vash been to Tokyo Disneyland? I bet not once? I bet you are sure, that if it is good for OLC, they will still continue to sell Splach merch if they want to. China is only a spit away. Please as a suggestion, I think that much more homework is needed, not just what here or there is talking about what they really don't know what they are talking about in the first place. Guys, I'm not at you, but you were a bit over the top, more homework is needed is all I'm saying.
My God, they’re STILL doing this?? I thought they started turning this around, and Marvel put out a good movie, etc? Bob Iger is just suicidal!! (They have a forest for you in Japan, Bob)
After Splash Mountain, what do they target next? They’ve started on Peter Pan, but then What? It’s never gonna stop. There’s always gonna be “problems” in these cuckoo-banana-birds’ minds.
that store is ALWAYS dead.... the Splash Mt. ride is very popular, but the shop you are referring to is dead space. been going there twice a year since 2003, never been much of a crowd there. Actually, here's a tip if you want to see characters without lines in TokyoDis: the whole exit area of splash mountain is a dead space including the tunnel with the above mentioned store , ppl have to go back to the entrance area of Splash Mt. since there is no other way to leave critter country.... to help keep traffic there you can often find characters mostly ,bambi related, around the exit area of Splash Mt. We all love the ride but very few in jp care about the Splash Mt. merch. Oh, and OLC is under NEW management, the old guard is gone. I just hope we don't go Woke like the US parks have.
Been to Tokyo Disneyland it is by far the best Disney I have been to. Very clean, everything is in order and food is expensive but what you see on the screen is what you actually get. I would highly suggest go there.
How many people saw the song of the south? I never saw it (I am 55) so never thought of ride as racist. Just a fun ride. Should have left it alone. Disney needs to stop. Btw Caribbean was better with original version. Japan hasn’t changed that ride.
I own a copy of Song of the South on laser disc. I have watched it many times. It’s not racist. It’s a movie about a white boy who finds comfort in the stories an elderly black man is telling him. It also takes place after slavery was abolished. They’re share croppers; not slaves.
Multiple copies are streaming on the internet archive. I strongly suggest watching it to discover that there is nothing offensive in the film. This is honestly the most ridiculous "controversy" I've ever seen.
If based on African folk tales, couldn’t OLC develop and create their own characters and stories, totally different than Disney’ s to put in their Splash as Snow White folk tale can be used with different story, costume, music etc.
Someone needs to break into the disney archives and find the film negatives for song of the south so they can show it to the world before they completely destroy it forever
I’m worried about the next CEO, Chapek and Iger are terrible, I’m worried that the next one is gonna be even worse than those cash grabbers I’d make a better CEO then the current jerks of Disney, i’d cancel the plans to close all of those attractions, i’d bring back fastpass, I’d bring back live entertainment and all those other things
Well after I take over Disney, I won't be CEO. Disney will be private, no longer traded, and I will be the Owner. Sports teams have Owners. I won't answer to anyone but Walt himself.
I love you guys but please tell the truth about this. It will never change as long as Blackrock, vanguard etc. owe the majority of the stock. Even if upper management changes they will put someone new that agrees with their goals. The only hope is a hostile take over by someone that truly loves Disney and will end this craziness.
They should make a Princess and The Frog ride somewhere else in the park to sort of block the continuity or idea of having to force a lore/I.P. that shouldn't be in Frontierland/Critter Country.
In the original story, the princess is playing with her golden ball by a pond. It goes in the water and she cries for loosing it. A frog hops up and says he will bring it back, but she must promise to take him to her home and treat him well. She agrees and he gets the ball for her. She then runs off and he's left behind. Later, the frog turns up and the princess is told by her father (when he finds out she gave her word to the frog) that she must keep her promises to the frog. He gets to eat at the table with her, off the fine china plates and golden cutlery. He gets to go with her and at night, he gets to sleep on her bed, on her pillow (All of which, she had agreed to when she wanted her ball back) The last thing she had to do, was kiss him goodnight. But, when she managed to do this (pulling a face while doing it) he hops off the bed, and turns into a handsome prince. He tells her he was cursed by an evil witch and only if he could get a princess to do all these things, would the curse be broken. I've never seen the Disney version, but I've seen the Tiana dolls.
The main character from a movie they sabotaged because they wanted to get out of "old fashioned" 2d animation, and are now pushing because they want to get rid of "old fashioned" fans.
@@silverbane8065The Disney movie isn’t based off of the Frog Prince. It’s actually based off of a 2002 children’s novel by E.D Baker called The Frog Princess and it was the first book in a trilogy. Disney took that novel’s concept and made a movie loosely based on that. The book trilogy is better and I’m still sad the movie wasn’t a full adaptation of the book series. The books are The Frog Princess, Dragon’s Breath, and Once Upon A Curse. I have all three books hard cover. Loved them since high school. 🥰
oriental land company should evict disney and make it a nintendo land, that splash mountain could surely be put to good use as a mario or animal crossing attraction.
Disney can't force ANYTHING with the OLC because that would risk losing a ton of money they pay as a license fee and given the amount of money Disney's OWN projects are haemorrhaging can they risk losing another source of income?
Why can't the Japanese Disneyland keep the Splash Mountain in the park? I thought that they were the experimental one, and Disney just decided to keep the best ideas they created. So what are they telling Tokyo disneyland, if you don't comply and turn it into Tiana's bayou, that you can't have the ride at all. That's bullcrap. What if I want to go to the Tokyo park, to ride the original Splash mountain, or what's left of it
This is sickening DONT GIVE IN TDL! EVERYONE LOVES YOU FOR KEEPING THIS. If you close it down you will lose ALLL the international travelers that would have ridden it
To be honest, I don’t think oriental land company should given in. There are times when Disney does good but there is also times that Disney does bad. However, they can never actually predict what is popular or not, it’s the people that decides what’s popular. Whether it’s a movie, show, ride, or attraction the people will always decides what’s best and Disney can’t do anything to change that point of view. The only way that the point of view can change is if a natural change of view, so whatever they call us would never change the point of view what would is accurately depictions. It seems like Tiana is a poacher now in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Disney DEFINITELY has a financial death wish with their actions. They seem to ENJOY losing money, customers and the fan base that they're happily leaping into eventual financial bankruptcy and going out of business.
Did the Magic Key preview yesterday for Tiana. As I expected the logs move too fast. If you are in the wrong log you can miss key elements as the AAs or screens are either starting to say something or finish saying something as you wiz by. The light tunnel on the final drop has fog machines built into the mountain on the right,. However the holes are to big and when the work lights in the backstage area are on you a can see the cement backing of the mount seep through. The final drop cutout tunnel that goes under the water is exposed without any greenery. TBA does not feel like a Disneyland attraction. It feels like it belongs in a competitors park. It made me feel so sad that we lost Splash Mountain for this. I hope Japan dooes not make the mistake of removing it. BUT if they do, I hope they fleece Disney in creating a new land with multiple attractions on their dime.
I was at Tokyo Disney Resort in September and granted it was hot but Splash Mountain had the longest line of all the rides and thats including Beauty And The Beast and Soarin'. Like OLC originally said the Japanese people like the ride because of the cute animals.
