PLEASE enable the captions! You guys were doing so well with this for months, but it's recently been slipping again😟 You have hearing-impaired RU-vid fans too, so please don't forget us🙏💜
AJ, could you please do a series of videos where you rank the various candy stores in the parks, the bakeries in the parks/resorts, and even a video where you highlight the Starbucks locations--I would love to know what unique sweets each park's Starbucks offers that you can't find at any other Starbucks :o)
Having had curried jackfruit in Bali, I'm very excited to see it on the menu at Disney. Juicy Fruit gum was created to imitate the taste of jackfruit and I've even made my own very tasty mustard BBQ with it. As a Reducitarian, I like to eat mostly vegetables, fruits, nuts and legumes, and just a little bit of fish or chicken, so it's so cool to see something more imaginative and unique on the menu.
Because Disney does BBQ much much better than pizza. And it's probably trying to copy the Toy Story place they have in Disneyland which is also BBQ and has a similar name.
Hi AJ! Thanks so much for yet another great countdown. I do have ONE thing I’ve been trying VERY hard not to say to you each time you talk about the Regal Eagle, but I think the time has come. 😉 ⏰ You always give a “warning” that the barbecued jackfruit does not taste like pulled pork. This is one of those things guaranteed to make a plant-based eater go insane. First, I don’t actually yearn to have my food look or taste like meat (!!!!!), but even more importantly - I see NOWHERE on the Regal Eagle menu that they’re saying it’s supposed to taste like pulled pork! It says (in WDW’s online menu) that it is a “BBQ Jackfruit Burger” described as a “Plant-based Burger on Garlic Toast topped with BBQ Jackfruit served with your choice of side.” Perfect. Done. I’m in. Why can’t non-meat items just be judged as non-meat items? You wouldn’t judge meat based on whether it’s properly imitating a fruit or vegetable, would you? I understand that in a barbecue joint a meat-eater would try to equate this with meat, but to a non-meat eater it is a wonderful, WONDERFUL non-meat addition to the menu, located in a place (WDW in general) where non-meat eaters have 95% fewer decent entree options than meat eaters, and I’m incredibly grateful for it. If it were really bad and it needed to disappear from the menu - fine - criticize away. But I have only heard good things about it from others, and I would hate to think it might not be given a chance because it’s getting unfairly criticized for being something it’s not even TRYING to be. (Whew!) Anyway, thank you again for all you do, and thanks for letting me make little bit of a plant-based contribution to the comments. 😄🥬🌶🌽🧅🍠
Agreed 100%. There was really no need to A. Giving a warning about jackfruit not tasting like a completely different thing, or B. Give a negative warning and acknowledging that you have to give a repeated warning. I didn't see how that was necessary. I love that both WDW and Disney bloggers/ vloggers are opening up so much more to plant-based menu items, but that little grumbling comment made me sad.
I hear you. I guess that comment is for those who have gone plant-based for health rather than ethical reasons, and are seeking a like-for-like substitute if they previously did enjoy eating meat.
Omg shut up. If plant based eaters don’t want meat substitutes they won’t care either way, they’ll eat the damn thing. Her warning is for people who are looking for something that they think will taste like meat but doesn’t. Chill. This wasn’t about you.
We ate at takumi-tei last time we were at Disney and it was amazing!!! Staying at Riviera in 8 days and have an ADR for breakfast at toppolinos and Toledo! Will def be eating/drinking at Bar Riva and Regal Eagle during our trip❤️!!!
I NEEDED this!!! (We are in a rut) I do SO well planning other people’s trips but we are so “stuck” in our “traditions” I need to shake things up this year!!! My dining date is coming up soon... Thanks for the tips!!
Hey AJ! I just thought you should know that takumi-tei is actually not on the dining plan at all according to the app and the Omakase Tasting is $150 not $130.
It definitely states on the app that the dining plan isn’t accepted at Tekeumi Tei. Which is a shame, because I wish it were. Please kindly update this information
Hey AJ, I've read on another WDW Video Blog that the delay for Space 220 is now because during construction, a display window broke and it takes 6 months (!!) to get a replacement customized window. These are the windows used for the "earth from space" projections so this is a really big setback for the restaurant!
Toledo has updated their menu. Savory churros, Cod pequilli pepper, and heirloom tomatoes are not on the new menu. The do have amazing braised short ribs, and an incredible beet salad along with a pipperade soup. GREAT FOOD for one credit. Views of Disney World cannot be beaten from up there.
Though restaurants might be fancy and cool....when I'm paying over $100 a day just to be in the park I'm not going to take a couple hours out to sit down and have a signature experience that takes all evening. I know others will differ with me on that but that's how I feel.
I would love to see you do one on the new pet policy and resort stays for those who love there pets! I am a booking agent and love useing your video's for those new experience guests:)
We have our fingers crossed for the end of September. We were supposed to go New Zealand in July, but that off, so we’re really hoping that things pan out for DW. Hopefully the newest will be open for us 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
People need to review the Disney cancellation policies. They will take $200 per package under 30 days out. With all the Coronavirus cases all over, standing in long lines and touching rides that 1000s of people from all over the world touched is a concern. Hopefully they should full refund if they close WDW
I have booked and cancelled Takumi Tei about 4 times. I book it, I look at the price I unbook it because I would have to sacrifice another 2 sit downs to fit this one in the budget... but then I watch a video and I book it again. In case you were wondering, yes I just booked it again.
I haven't gotten to try City Works but I was bummed it opened a few days after my last trip. I read through the menu and noticed their craft beer list is pretty great. Its one of the only spots on property to grab a decent IPA. Just a thought for fellow beer lovers.
Hey DFB team! I love all your videos and would totally love it if you'd make a video about the new Disney Dining Plan Plus- is it better than purchasing one of the original dining plans? will it save guests money? thanks y'all!
Regal Eagle is now on my list! Also, why no love for east coast vintage? Muskedine wine to represent the South and maybe some Finger Lakes wines from Upstate New York( my biases).
Jeffrey Root yess! I live in the finger lakes and we’ve actually beat napa for best wine country before. and Disney world IS the east coast! They should consider us.
Sarah Bretz I grew up near Waverly, Southern Tier but close enough! I live in Central Georgia now, with Muskedine and Scuppernong grapes. It’s all so good!
Save your money, if you’ve done real omakase, you’ll have higher expectations. We did the omakase at Takumi-Tei and we were disappointed. The courses weren’t quite Japanese. The sushi course is cute but it was small and it was topped with the thinnest square of fish. Then they served some braised beef on top of bone marrow which seemed more Pan-Asian to me. The only other Japanese main course was the wagyu course. It was cooked well and I did like how they give you American wagyu to compare both steaks. Overall it just didn’t have the wow factor for me. I expected a lot more out of the sushi and instead got a beef-centric menu. We didn’t try to use our dining plan so unfortunately couldn’t tell you if it was accepted.
I posted after you but don't hold your breath! Heard it's now 6 months due to a major window breaking and they're customized for the restaurant so they can't just call Anderson Windows for a replacement.
They likely have to call Rodeo Roundup that for copyright reasons. While Woody is a Pixar character, and thus Disney, there is a barbecue sauce called “Woody’s Cookin’ Sauce” made in Louisiana and fairly popular in the middle south. (Family trips to Texas usually meant brining back half a dozen or more bottles of it home to Ohio) so, calling it Woody’s Roundup might lead to legal issues.
I am amazed that the new restaurant in the American Pavilion at Epcot, the Regal Eagle, has only 1 vegetarian/vegan option. With more and more Americans changing to a healthier lifestyle, including their diets, one would think WDW would get on board and offer more than just one vegetarian/vegan food option at the American Pavilion. So disappointed.
Some places are slower to catch on. I went to Disney 20+ years ago as a young vegan and was happy to find a salad that was something other than iceberg lettuce with shredded carrot and a mealy tomato wedge. It had red pepper and kidney beans and back then that was progress.
Dawn Oxendine tram? Are you talking about the buses or the gondolas? You’ll have to take a bus from All Star to Epcot and from there you can take a gondola to Riviera or tale a bus from Epcot to Riviera. Then do it in reverse to get back to Music. The All Stars pretty much share the buses anyway.
Hi AJ! I have two 9 year olds joining me on my upcoming trip, they both have larger appetites as they will be 10 soon. My question is, can I PAY to upgrade them to the adult dining plan package? I am wanting to get the dining plan plus so that I can have as many of my meals pre-paid as possible and I do not want to have to guess how much extra cash I’ll be spending every day if I use their kids dining plan for a kids meal plus extra appetizers and snacks to keep them full. PLEASE HELP! 😅
hey AJ- it would be cool if you could mention the coronavirus effects on the parks if possible, i’m sure many are in my situation where we have vacations booked for june / this summer and are concerned if we should cancel our trip.
You’re a big girl. Call Disney yourself. AJ isn’t a public health official, nor does she work for Disney. How should she know what their plan is for the coronavirus? If Disney hasn’t released anything, she has just as much info as you.
Each of the all star resorts is scheduled for renovation in the next couple years. All Star Movies was the first to be completed last year, so all of the rooms there are updated (most with 2 queen beds, 1 of which is a table doubling as a Murphy bed). All Star Music is almost completely renovated at this time, and All Star Sports is the last resort that has yet to be renovated. Pop Century is also completely done being renovated, although it’s at a slightly higher price point. Art of Animation is relatively new, but was not renovated recently like some of the other resorts. Also, at the price of Art of Animation you’d be able to get a room at some moderate resorts, so it might be wise to consider one of those instead.
Absolutely. You cannot beat smoked chicken and white sauce. I believe made famous by the Bob Gibson's in Decatur (just fyi in case you are passing through again). I think I will buy a bottle and leave it out at Regal Eagle next time in Epcot haha.
We went to cityworks and I agree, it was such a disappointment!!! I would definitely not recommend. Wish I had seen this video before we went. There were 7 of us dining and only 2 enjoyed their food.
I think Disney has food for all budgets, you just have to do your research. DFB posted not too long ago how to eat $35 a day at Disney, and it helped me realize you don’t have to break the bank and enjoy some really good food!
Jackfruit doesn't need to taste like pulled pork, it just needs to taste delicious in its own right. And then no pigs were tortured and slaughtered, which should be a definite plus for anyone who considers themselves a compassionate person 🙂❤
That’s great but for the many people that want to eat something plant based but still enjoy the taste of meat, it would be helpful for them to know that it doesn’t taste like meat. No one’s saying it can’t still be good but if you’re expecting something meaty you might be very disappointed. Chill with your holier than thou attitude. She’s trying to help people make informed decisions.
