No. They made the choice to go ahead and get on the school buses that finally came and go ahead and go to Disneyland. They made the choice to go inside and use their tickets for several hours. They're disappointed and complaining because they didn't get the full day with their friends but they are not entitled to go into Disneyland for several hours for free and get a full refund. They got a partial refund which is what they are entitled to. They are young adults. They are not kids anymore and they need to understand that sometimes life isn't fair and they have to be responsible for the choices they make. If they expected a full refund then they should never have gotten on the bus to begin with and they should have done something else and then demanded the full refund later.
@SUN LIGHT 333 they did not have enough time to go to Disneyland and yes they should all get a full refund. They should get more for the inconvenience.
@@noneyabuizness You must have missed the part where they actually tell you they got there late and only had a couple of hours to go inside. Stop making excuses for these young adults. This is a great life lesson for them in understanding that as an adult you don't get compensation when life isn't fair or when you make decisions that you're unhappy with later.
@@sunlight93339they’re seniors which means they can be 17. But just because they’re an adult doesn’t mean they get to be deprived of their human rights. Plus, you sound super stupid because someone’s child is still a child no matter how old they are
They can only drive 10 hours a day total plus an hour of bus inspection time. The district didn't provide a second set of drivers it sounds like, which on short notice sounds about right.
No. You misunderstand. Even though they got there late they still went inside and enjoyed the rides for a few hours. When they got out the bus drivers weren't there to let them back on the bus because they chose to go in and enjoy themselves up to close time. Bus drivers have to be present when they allow anyone to board their buses. High school seniors knew this and they still chose to go inside anyway. When they got out they knew that they would have to wait for drivers to arrive to allow them on the buses. They were bussed home. they just had to wait for drivers to arrive. People are not at their beck and call 24/7. Welcome to adulthood. Nothing is free in life. They made the choice to go to Disneyland even though their bus was 6 hours late and then they chose to go inside knowing the drivers wouldn't be there when they got out and they chose to sit on the ground and wait for drivers. If they wanted a full refund they should have stayed home and done something else fun and then ask for a full refund and scheduled their trip for another day. It's really simple. They aren't kids anymore. They're young adults and as such, they need to be responsible for the choices they make.
Because they made the choice to go ahead and get on the bus anyway even though it was 6 hours late. They knew that they would get there late and still they chose to go. They then went inside Disneyland and enjoyed the rides for several hours before it closed. Because they chose to go ahead and go and use a portion of the ticket and gas was spent getting them down there they and are not entitled to a full refund. They're not kids anymore. They are young adults and as such they need to learn to be responsible for the choices and the decisions that they make. Life isn't always fair and this won't be the last time that something like this happens in their lives. Be responsible for the choices you make. I had a Disney grade night 10 years ago. We didn’t leave until after 3 or 4pm and there was terrible traffic and we had to watch a movie called Friday . But we made it to Disney right on time before the night fun .
This should’ve been pressed against the bus company. This was not Disney’s fault and are not obligated to refund them. However, if I were the school… that bus company and the school district are going to settle some scores.
I hate to say but welcome to adulthood where other adults can screw you over with no accountability. I feel for the young people who has to deal with this but it won’t be the last time
Actually when the company is at fault they do give refunds and full refunds at that. So to say welcome to Adult hood is wrong. It's also BS completely. They have some options and I so hope they choose to prasue them.
Exactly. My sentiments exactly. Life isn't fair and if they expected a full refund then they never should have chosen to go ahead and get on the bus and go to Disneyland and go inside and enjoy Disneyland for a few hours. They should have stayed behind and gone and done something different and then demanded a full refund later. They aren't kids. They're young adults and as such, they have to learn to BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CHOICES AND DECISIONS THAT THEY MAKE. They chose to go to Disneyland anyway and enjoy it for a few hours. They didn't get the full experience all day long but they should still be required to pay for the time they CHOSE TO USE THE TICKETS. It's not complicated. Time to grow up.
@@allisonsell6423 They don't have any recourse. They are not kids. They are young adults. As such, they need to learn to be responsible for the choices they make. They didn't get the full all day experience but they still chose to go in and enjoy it for a few hours and because of this decision that they willingly made, they should be required to pay for the time that they use the tickets. That is what the law will tell them and that is what should happen. They are not children anymore. Life isn't always fair. You don't get something for nothing. Grow up and be responsible for the choices you make.
Lol for our senior trip they took us to waterworld, but we didnt have no buses so we had to take RT and walk from arden fair mall. Swam all day and then took public transit all the way back. That's going to school in DPH back in the day was like. Yall kids will be okay
This sort of happened to me and my son as well for a class field trip The students and school had spent hundreds of dollars to be able to go on the field trip and bus company decided to “cancel” and turned back due to “unforeseen maintenance problem”. We too waited for hours for the school district to try and get us another bus but they couldn’t due to “no working bus was available” so my son and the rest of the class end up not be able to go on the field trip that day and had to get our money back.
I'm sorry this was never a good idea, it takes about 8-9 hours to drive to Disneyland from Sacramento. Then you go to Disneyland all day and night and then drive home another 8-9 hours. No one thought this through.
I'm sure that it was extremely disappointing, something the class had been anticipating to enjoy. This was the fault of the bus company though, not the school district. That the school district was able to get buses and drivers for a long trip on the same day they went to Disneyland was quite remarkable. It will be a story they can always look back on, and later laugh about it. A similar situation happened to a graduating class where I lived. The trip was rescheduled for a later date with a different bus/travel company. We don't know all the circumstances, but that would have been better then leaving them in a parking lot. When I went on a similar trip, years ago, we stayed in a hotel . There are regulations for how long/far a driver can travel. Probably would have violated that law/they wouldn't have had enough rest to drive back safely.
BS. They chose to get on the bus anyway even though it was late and they chose to go down to Disneyland and then they made the choice to go inside and enjoy Disneyland for a few hours before it closed. These are the choices they made these are the decisions they made and as such they need to pay for the time that they USED the tickets and the gas that was used to bus them there. Nobody gets anything for free. Nobody owes them a day at Disneyland for FREE..twice. If they wanted a full refund they should have stayed behind after the bus was 6 hours late and done something different. Later, they should have asked for a full refund and then they could have gone to Disneyland on another day for the full day. This wasn't the choice they made. They are young adults now and as such they have to be responsible for the decisions they make and the consequences. You don't get anything for free in this world especially after you become an adult.
They should get full refund no exceptions period. They allowed them to get to destination late and made them sleep on the ground. That deservyfull refund period.
Nobody forced them to sleep on the ground. They chose to sit on the ground because they couldn't get back on the bus. They also chose to go ahead and get on the bus AFTER it was 6 hours late. They then chose to go to Disneyland LATE... Knowing that by the time they got there they would only have a few hours to ride the rides.. They then CHOSE to go inside Disneyland and have fun with their friends for several hours before it closed. Nobody gets anything for free in life. It's time to be responsible for the choices and the decisions that you make. Nobody else should pay for the gas that took you down there and no one else should pay for you to go to Disneyland a second day...especially after you become an adult. They aren't kids anymore.. nobody forced them to go and no adults went with them. They're grown now. 🙄 They made the decision to go and use a portion of the ticket. If they wanted a full refund they should have stayed behind and done something else and then ask for a full refund and gone a different day. It's that simple. Life isn't always going to give you what you want and nobody's going to give it to you for free. Stop whining about it.
@@sunlight93339 you clearly didn't at all LISTEN LINDA to the reporter and what all was stated or you would know that from the start they had no CHOICE LINDA! All Adults are always someone's child period. Always someone's Kid period. Or do you also not know what a kid is. Clearly you do not know that as well. Also when you have only two choices and one is taken away from no action of your own. That then becomes clearly one option left and that clearly is ground. So if a Kid/Adult only has ground to sit or sleep on that can be used as a defense of being forced cause that option was taken away period. You can try and spin it anyway you want too. Unfortunately you can have your opinion and that is ok. In the end though if you would have LISTENED LINDA you would realize how wrong you are. Anyone dealing with travel industry with YEARS of experience would also know that these Kids were taken advantage of because they had no knowledge of this industry and the BS they TRY and pull. That's ok since it's not YOUR Kid let's let them get screwed and learn a lesson that life sucks because THE OTHER ADULTS BEFORE THEM ALLOWED THIS TO hAPPEN WITH OUT HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE! This really does suck, but they did get to go for a good part of the time and trip. Yes, it sucks a lot that things didn't work out as they hoped, but then again, a trip of this magnitude (having to drive 9 hours (400 miles) one way) is bound to have the potential for issues. A life lesson for all, and at least they got part of their money back. Again it sucks, but life is rarely ever perfect and without issues. That's life sometimes and better to learn to deal and accept it as life will bring many more unpredictable ups and downs in the future.
So when someone screws you over for a big event and you end up having to sleep on a concrete floor, you just chalk it up to life lessons? I don't fucking think so, someone is responsible for this utter disaster.
@@sagstar Yes, someone is responsible for this utter disaster. But it happened, so now the question is what are you doing to do about it? Sue? Reverse time machine? Cry? Be angry for the rest of your life? Beat someone up? Look on the bright side? Move on with your life? I guess we can each decide for ourselves on how to deal with this in whatever ways we want.
This is what respect is available to encourage young people, when Conservatives Malice and Menace everyone within-an-inch to-the-letter of-the-law: provoking actions they can decry as felonious and unamerican; while lobbying for Supreme Court Justices to be enstated solely during republican administrations.
I think a $158 refund is fair. These high school seniors knew that they were going to be late getting to Disneyland and they still chose to go. They knew they wouldn't have much time once they got inside and yet still, they chose to go in and use a portion of the ticket that they paid for. I'm so tired of people thinking that Young adults deserve a free ride in life. And if it wasn't enough that we have college students demanding student loan forgiveness and expecting the rest of working class America pony up for a free college education, we now have young adult high school seniors complaining about the fact that they didn't get the full day at Disneyland. 🙄 THEY made the CHOICE to go ahead and go on the school bus and THEY MADE THE CHOICE to go ahead and go inside and use a portion of their tickets to have a few hours of good times with their friends... Which I'm sure they enjoyed. They should have to pay for the hours that they used the ticket.. whether that's for 6 hours or 2. I don't feel sorry for these young adults in the least. By the way, they aren't kids. They're seniors...they're young adults and they have to learn to start being responsible for the choices they make. The choice they made was to go ahead and go inside and use a portion of the ticket. It's that simple. I can understand being disappointed that they didn't get the full day with their friends but stop acting like it was the END OF THE WORLD and somebody owes them something for nothing. Life isn't always fair. If they expected to get a full refund then they shouldn't have gone on the school bus and went ahead with the trip. Had they made that CHOICE/DECISION instead, it would have entitled them to ask for the full refund. They are not entitled to go to Disneyland for free simply because they graduated from high school.
You've been spending a lot of time commenting here and berating high school seniors while not saying one word about the charter company that was happy to take money but provide no services or accountability. As an adult, don't you have anything better to be doing than telling high school seniors that they're the problem? Time to grow up.

Bus company had a higher paying customer for the busses so they blew off the school. Hey, that's business. Did the school sign a contract with this bus company? No? Then oh well.
