In today's video, we'll be doing some DIY to adapt a lens from a disposable film camera onto a digital camera. Enjoy! Instagram: @james_greenhalgh_ Music from Uppbeat (free for Creators!): uppbeat.io/t/w... License code: VS4NPWACUC6N7IMG
Why are the photos blurry? The mistake made here, was that you didn't unscrew the lens from the mount in the disposable camera. If that had happened, the base would have sat flush against the back of the body cap... Your version sits a lot closer to the sensor than it should. Have another go dude, and you'll get good results I think!
Totally agree. Kodak disposable camera works better sa the lens has a little bit different shape, in order to make it work it has to be outside of the cap of about 5mm, I’ve done it two days ago and the photos are in focus and not blurry, it’s really fun to use and think about making a couple for some friends of mine
yes it can shock you but its not the battery that can do that, you don't need the comb, it would be like being scared of changing the battery in your tv remote. It is the capacitor for the flash (that black thing looking like a short battery you can see behind the camera flash) that can shock you, and some points of the circuit attached to it, which is pretty much the stuff you were touching around with your fingers. To discharge the capacitor just short the two leads with a screwdriver, it will be a nice spark (repeat again to be sure)
You should try focusing this lens with an helicoid, might be interesting for a video. Also, have you ever thought of doing the same with a rangefinder? Like in the DIY videos of Vintage Optiks, taking a non-fuctional rangefinder and giving a new purpose to its lens
This has probably been said in the comment section but if you put an old credit card outside the cap and then the lens housing instead of inside, it fixes the focus. I tried it with the same cap and disposable camera as you. Good luck!
I don't think this has worked out. I have seen it done before with much better results. I don't exaclty know, what went wrong, but everything is just out of focus. That is weird, because usually these lenses are f10.
I’m actually decided to watch this video only after my disposable camera hit me twice with an electric spark, that wasn’t something I was expecting, but I’m okay
I just built one like yours but when I press the shutter button it doesn’t take any picture… I mean, it doesn’t shoot at all… what mistake you think I’m doing?
I’ve tried it on my camera but for some reason my camera just doesn’t let me take any photos. I’m using a canon m50 again with an apsc sensor. Do you know what it could be? Great video by the way
Thank you! Chances are your camera is refusing to take photos because it thinks a lens is not attached, to solve this, find and enable a setting in your camera called something like "Allow shooting without lens". I'm not sure what it's exactly called on canon cameras but It will be there in your settings.
