De son titre en Français ' Les Aventures du capitaine Wyatt' ce film de 1951 réalisé par Raoul Walsh pour la Warner Bros avec Gary Cooper, Mari Aldon et Richard Webb dans les rôles principaux. L'action se passe en Floride vers 1840 et relate la seconde guerre (il y en eu trois) entre les indiens Séminoles qui défendent leur territoire face aux colons. Le scénario du film raconte l'épopée de prisonniers qui ont réussi à se faire libérer mais qui sont poursuivis par les indiens à travers les marais des Everglades. Initialement, la partition était destinée à Alex North. Comme à son habitude pour ce genre de scénario, Max steiner nous entraîne dans un tourbillon sonore intense, épique avec visiblement une fin qui nous rassure quant au devenir des fugitifs.
this film and universal's"seminole"were 2 films that had to do with the army's battle with florida's seminoles and i would love the CD and DVD of this one because i think it to be the better of the 2,i've seen"seminole"and i did'nt really go for it!
Both together used the same voice recordings and originated the "Wilhelm scream." Charge at Powder River reused the effect and all three films had a character named Wilhelm/William. Each holds the title of the originator.

The makers of Seminole took the agonized cries of the character who gets eaten by an alligator in Distant Drums and used it for when a character was run over by a cannon. Then Powder River used it for someone named Wilhelm, and the name stuck. Everything from Star Wars to Lord of the Rings has used the scream. It's a fun piece of film trivia.
