This movie was such a bizarre experience. It portrayed a relatively peaceful alien encounter with modern earth in what is arguably the most realistic way it possibly could. I have no doubt we would, after a few years of novelty, end up treating them and behaving exactly like this. Living out life with a mothership hovering overhead like it’s just another piece of the scenery, grouching about the “damn bugs,” and generally continuing to be just as petty and uncaring as we were before we encountered them.
It was never about aliens, it was about refugees. The fact it was aliens with technology we wanted to reverse engineer made it worse. This was filmed in a real slum, the government was clearing it out and finally demolished it after the filming was done. In the beginning of the movie, when the residents were complaining about the aliens, IRL, they weren't talking about aliens, but IRL human refugees .
Jews from Hollywood saw they would not be able to maintain the standard set by the director, so they instead made him to kneel before them and swear to never commit the sin of going off-grid ever again. Thats why the sequel was never made.
@@Godbullet98 Christopher lied though, its been ALOT more than three years and not only is wikus just been out here making metal flowers the whole time
The alien Kid activating the ship and all the Alien devices is very cool and it provides a way for Wikus to escape not lazy writing but awesome writing
I watched this movie 2 years after it came out and from what I understood it didn’t do as good until a quiet a few years after it’s release, and grew a fan base. I assume that’s why they weren’t in a hurry to release a sequel since the fan base didn’t come until almost a decade after. But coming back to this movie again and I never realized how much I actually liked the prawns in this movie lmao imagine having one as a friend almost 💀
My only complaint is I feel the gang leader's death was too humane, it would've been cool if there was some weapon that could melt his skin off while he's alive and shrieking or something like that, a more fitting punishment for that psychopath
There are over 50 African countries even before you include ethnicities, races and tribal allegiances. So yes people in some countries dislike those from specific other countries there. Having worked with people from many different African nations they have the same attitude as people from other continents do. I know that the South African and Nigerian immigrants that I have worked with do not get along which is slightly odd since the nations are far apart but then both are also competing for most powerful Sub-Saharan African country or maybe it's just a sports thing lol.
@@Ushio01 there's more ethnicities inside of Africa than the rest of the world combined, they can also can claim credit for the most recent genocides in history. What people in the west fail to realize is that same skin color doesn't mean same race, they measured the bridge of the nose to decide who died in Darfur.
@@xKevmachinex I’m planning on getting the 4K version soon so I give you what I truly believe this prawn dog/insect is doing, but yeah I agree that it might be taking tissue for food just like a spider when preparing flys
yes men, keep shooting the power armor that is catching and suspending all your bullets midflight. Ignore the other heavier weapons you possess that have a chance of actually doing damage to it.
Stupid because bullets don’t look like that o be they have been fired from a gun….it is only the small tip which is the projectile…. So I do t understand how this magnet is collecting all the casings? The casing of the bullet is not fired from the gun? This is stupid!!
@@aye_its_sparky7164 the movie is supposed to reflect on humanity, "what would you do if Damocles sword was hanging above your head". But to me it didn't click, too many lowlifers doing whatever.
