Quick question: If an artist has a release scheduled for distribution and they want to update the audio to a new version can they resubmit with the same ISRC? Will that replace the old version? Or do they need to delete the release and start over?
from my experience it will update the old version if you use the same ISRC, same title, and roughly the same length, however I would test this out on a test account, and see what happens!
What if the single had a collaborative artist on it? Can you add another artist for just one song on the album? Or will that only show under the single release?
if its not released it is unlikely it will have an ISRC code, even if it did have one, it probably wont mean much as its a new release with no streams. I would always check with your distributor, as each one does things differently!
Is there a way I can leave both files up (the single & album version) but that the listen count merged into one file? What I mean is, I don’t want to have 2 same songs having different listen counts, but I don’t know if that’s possible.
yes! you can have both up, single and album version with the same counts, look at my song The Rain, it is a single and on the "Blue" EP but the song itself only has single count. Simlar with the songs on my "Superstar" EP and then later "Superstar" Extended EP, same songs with same count. If your not sure, start up a test artist account, load a test song, and then a test album and try it there first. The songs mentioned above are here open.spotify.com/artist/49N4mz199nKGEvyV8VGh7d?si=3fCiMloJT5i1hWqFvHyMyA
Distrokid submit to youtube and they add your sing as a "topic" video using your artwork for the video. If you want your own video you can just upload it yourself on RU-vid
So i have to upload the Song again to put in on the album but question is The streams from the privously single have the sane kicks like before Or is it listed like a new song? Would be cool if distrokid gif us a option to put released tracks just in to the album without uploading again abd maybe lose of statistics from the song Sorry 4 my bad English Greetz from germany
If I released a single but deleted it because I got a better sounding version for an Album when I upload the album do I put the old code it use to have on the single or do I just do it as a new song?
You can do both, I'm not sure about the legalities, but I've done it before, and it seems fine. I think the song can't be too different and has to be the same or similar length.
Hey. What can I do if I reuploaded the song on the EP as u did in your Video and Distrokid tells me there was a problem with the delivery to the stores because i did not use the same metadata? I'm sure I did it the same way as when I uploaded the song as a single. Do you think the Song will be one the EP? I contacted Distrokid but I'm afraid they are not able to fix it in time (one week)
I tried to do it, but distrokid sent me an email saying that that song was already distributed and that I should edit the data, but I don't get the option to edit the album and use the same isrc, can you help me?
