Everyone's just fighting in the comments about which band is better and i'm just over here like "hey, disturbed performing a metallica song, that's pretty epic"
I swear metallica probably has the BEST intros to their songs in rock history. I could listen to the first 1:30 of this song over and over and over. I can't get tired of it!
Denise Satterfield pity, 'cause Metallica came first in 1981 (true fact and started their first album in 1983) BEFORE Disturbed. So they made Disturbed second at best. And Cliff was the greatest bass player in metal band history.

froo baloo it's not that they are bad or the spawn of the devil -which in some way they are- it's that they have some potential but they write and play the most generic uninteresting bullshit ever created by a rock band.
I'd love to hear Pantera do a cover of this song while they were in their prime. I think Phil could have done an awesome job on this song vocally. It would almost be Cemetery Gates like I suppose. David and the band do a pretty good job here.
Now instead of 'hello darkness my old friend' and 'oh wah ah ah ah',,, 'life it seems will fade away' is my new fav disturbed lyrics, ik it's a Metallica cover but this is epic
Flippin brilliant! The transition between the bass/guitar and the acoustics is perfect! What a song! What a band! Amazing original version by 'Tallica, amazing cover by Disturbed! Need I say any more?!
I actually had no idea the Disturbed singer had such a good voice! I really like both Metallica and Disturbed, and this is a great cover. I do wish there was a solo at the end, but it's still awesome
@@russellvanwyk7214 Based on the fact that your comment has no likes, I think you're alone in that boat. Chester Bennington is from Linkin Park, the biggest rock band of the last two decades. And Spencer Charnas is from Ice Nine Kills, one of the biggest heavy metal bands of the last five years. They have two albums that charted high on Billboard, so you're far from correct. James Hetfield is a great singer, but wishes he had Chester and Spencer's vocal range. Metallica walked so Linkin Park and Ice Nine Kills could run.
To those who are complaining that they did not play the solo in this performance... This was from the Music As A Weapon II tour, which was during the Believe album cycle. At this time, they only had two albums released (The Sickness, and Believe). If you listen to both of the albums in their entirely, you will notice that Dan does not have a single solo among them. I remember hearing a long while ago that back then, Dan was not interested in solos mainly for the fact that he did not want to be the center of attention any more than anyone else. He was more than talented enough to handle solos, but just chose not to. All of that changed with the release of the Ten Thousand Fists album however.
ajaja, you are so wrong, man. James' voice during that period was very unstable. Read about The Black Album and James' voice problems. You can tell the differences, listening to album versions and then watching live versions of songs.
This song had so much meaning to me as a teenager. I heard it in a way that I can't even grasp today as an adult. I just felt it so much more deeply back then. RIP Cliff.

This is awesome, imho, David's voice suits the song more, and the instrumentals were just awesome. I'd love to see a studio version of this(the people in the background are killing it! D;), a bonus track mayhaps? :) But... comparing a live cover vs the studio track is.... pointless, as it's going to be pretty hard to beat the studio track.
David did an awesome job at this, they should cover this Officially, but Metallica would probably not have it. It would be awesome. David brings so much emotion to every song, it truly is amazing,
Love Metallica and Disturbed. David sings it very well and the band covers the music well. My only gripe is play the entire song even if that means making David play the guitar.

wrong again. At least David Draiman can still sing. Kind of different ball game there. Before you lecture me, im nearly 40 years old and listened to Metallica since garage days. James has lost his voice IMO and their change of music types doesn't bode well with me. they are still a great band of course, but disturbed became my new fave after the Metal.licka black album. they lost something then. Havent seen them recover it yet. I prefer disturbed by far now
***** I don't get why they skipped it, Don is plenty talented enough to play Kirk's solo. As it's live, I'm guessing it was probably for timing reasons.
The thing about disturbed covers: although they may not always outdo the original, they always honor the song ... and this one is no exception. The Metallica of today cannot honor this music any better.
