I've never been a fan of Disturbed, but you'd be an idiot to not realize his voice is gold.

I got cancer. Life may go on. But every single moment is more precious than before. And this song, this interpretation by Disturbed, makes me feel every single second. I am grateful that I am human, that I belong to people and there are artists like this who make me feel life more intensely than ever before.

This rendition is not a performance…it’s an experience.

I honestly think this is the best live performance of any song ever. They took an awesome, iconic song and made it their own. Which is arguably better than the original.😮 Then David laid down one of the purest, cleanest, best controlled, most impactful vocal performances there has ever been. On a scale of 1 to 10 this is hands down a 100!❤

Never thought anyone could sing this better than Simon and Garfunkel. But Disturbed gave it a fresh edge -- a different take to the message of the song's lyrics. Absolutely loved this version!

Every time I hear this version of this great song I can't help but tear up. This performance should be sent into space to serve as a record to the rest of the universe of what artistic greatness we humans are capable of. I say that only half jokingly. Absolutely brilliant.

My son died 11/5/2016, About 2 months ago. Before he died he had come up the stairs from his man cave to tell me I had to listen to this song. I was watching t.v. so i kind of put him off. Never to be dismissed I went to the computer to listen and watch Disturbed performance on Conan.I was speechless, he was amazing. I grew up with Simon and Garfunkel's version. I love their version but this version from Disturbed leaves me speechless. Hate to say so,however I had to tell Chris he was right. This was an awesome rendition.Much more emotional than Simon and Garfunkel 's version.Of course he said he knew he was right. I love playing this . Makes me remember my son. Thanks

Seriously, Disturbed needs to do more songs like this one. Not everything has to be a fast paced scream fest, sometimes we need a slow yet powerful song to inspire, give pause, or reflection.

I am an 82 year old and am so grateful to have been able to experience this masterful rendition of Sound Of Silence by Disturbed. This so well expresses the range of opinions that the original hinted at.

It's the vocal equivalent of the very bowels of the earth bursting into song; and then the angels join. A rare and beautiful thing.

Something most all of us have known for 40 years now. Rock and Metal have the BEST singers and musicians period. They can sing at the highest and lowest octave ranges. They can play the fastest most technical sounds on musical instruments. Or the most genuine softest ballads. Yet, this music is SO overlooked by the main stream of today.

And the standing ovation continues to this day.

I'm getting there. I only discovered Disturbed four days ago. I'm 73 and I absolutely love this version!!! I wake up and listen to it, then several times during the day, and before bed. It's captivating!!

I come back to listen to this about 3-4 times a year when I am 6 beers in and its sound amazing every time!

Not sure how i'm only just discovering this recently, but i cannot stop playing it on repeat!

The audience was so mesmerized by this performance that you didn't hear one applause until the music was completely through. This is perhaps the greatest cover performance I have ever heard.

Still, the greatest cover of any song, ever. The tiny fraction of a second of pause between the final note and the explosion of cheers is, I think, the audience realizing that they just witnessed something extraordinary.

I remember when this aired. It gave me chills and still does. This version is sooo much better than the version they official released.

Somebody else said it and I am going to repeat it: " the original made us think but THIS ONE MAKE US FEEL IT."

For anyone not familiar. Yes, this is live. Yes, he sounds this good live. His voice amazing. I can confirm having seen it.

I've never been big on covers. Too often the artist tries to do it exactly like the original and kills it. They also move too far away from the original and kill it. They take no ownership or too much. Disturbed has the ability to find that perfect medium. Change it just enough to take ownership but not so much that you're left going "what is this garbage?" Unbelievable cover and I'm pretty sure I like it more than the original. Now before some chucklehead jumps in my replies saying this is not better than the original (because I know how RU-vid is). Read this again and tell me where I said it "was better". I said I like this better. There's a big difference there.

Ok guys don’t criticize me. I’m blown down by this cover. It took me way too many years to discover this version and band. It’s stuck in my head (brain). The original was one of my favorites, until I heard this beautiful voices and arrangement. Now I can’t get enough, searching the vast hole of RU-vid to hear more music and interviews from these musicians. God has blessed you (all) with a powerful gift that brings me to tears. Love you ❤️

I have heard this song for almost 50 years and this version is by far my favourite. He has captured the quiet anger and despair the lyrics convey. That is something the Simon and Garfunkel version did not have. It was beautiful as well, but without the raw but barely perceivable emotion that David Draiman brings to the words, it is just another great song. This version could easily become the definitive version, making it every bit as powerful as The Beatles Yesterday or Tim Buckley's piano version of Hallelujah. Nothing else is quite like this amazing work of art. The audience knew it and demonstrated their appreciation by the tiny silence which followed the last note. That is a sign of respect that few singers and musicians get today.
