So glad you felt it too. My son sent this to me and at 71 years of age, a 23 year Marine Corps veteran, 2 years continuous in combat in Vietnam in the late 60s ... I cried. Simon and Garfunkel sang out the warning but David Draiman drives home the rage and helplessness of humanity for not having listened to that warning!

Never done this before. We are the same age. Children of the 60’s who were there for Simon & Garfunkel’s original version of the masterpiece which has been my favorite song since it was first released. Your comments touched my soul. I can’t listen to Disturbed’s version without the tears streaming down by the middle of the song. No matter how many times I hear it the memories of the past 70 plus years stream by and I wonder what we’ve learned. In any event good luck brother and thank you for your service - although “thank you” is hardly enough to describe how I feel.

I've always loved Simon and Garfunkel and this was one of my favorites after Bridge Over Troubled Waters. When I heard Disturb version it became my favorite. You can't help but think about what he's saying and the feeling he puts behind it. Makes me cry, makes me think people should cut off TVs, games, and phones and just talk and listen to each other. To come together as the human race and not all the nonsense that's going on in the world today. Too many people killing each other, too many children going hungry, too much political bullshit! God bless those that have served this country and especially those that have died for it. We shouldn't let any of it be in vain.

you know, the fact that bands make angry and violent sounding music it doesn't mean they're an angry & violent band. For example - Suicide Silence have a song called You Only Live Once which sounds very violent but has a positive message. The band sold Mitch Lucker's (the previous vocalist which tragically died in 2012) shirt that he wore in the music video for 800$ and bought toys for kids in Christmas with the money. The metal community is the most loving & dedicated one, despite all the stigmas...there's no "beautiful side" to metal, metal is beautiful.

I've heard this version at least 100xs easily and it still brings me to tears each and every time. I can't even imagine hearing this live. Sierra Sugar the only reason it doesn’t bring mento such tears anymore is really because of overplay. That, and also I share the exact same sentiment being shared in this version: that nothing has changed and it’s worth being pissed about. But it is still a gorgeous piece of work and frankly had redefined Disturbed as much more than a metal band.

No lies, I freaking CRIED when I heard this version for the first time. Simon & Garfunkle's original, while great, just had this kinda spaced-out quality to it. Like, they were acknowledging that the world is falling apart, but they've kind of resigned themselves to their depressing fate. Draiman and Disturbed are saying "Yeah, this sucks, but I'll be DAMNED if I'm just gonna sit here and do nothing about it."

His name is David Draiman, and he is as spiritually deep as his cover of *The Sound of Silence* He STOPPED A SHOW to save a woman's life as she was being crushed by the crowd in "The pit." He honored her by having her on stage as he continued to perform. I am a messenger through music. I have made people laugh, cry, and even change negative attitudes to positive... but I am easily forgotten, and that's okay. *David Draimon* can NEVER be forgotten. He was alone in the studio to record this song. He was so broken, his band had to make sure he was okay. THAT is *David Draiman*

Disturbed is an American heavy metal band from Chicago, formed in 1994. The band includes vocalist David Draiman, guitarist/keyboardist Dan Donegan, bassist John Moyer and drummer Mike Wengren. Draiman, Donegan and Wengren have been involved in the band since its inception, with Moyer replacing former bassist Steve Kmak, first as session performer in 2003, and then officially in 2005. The band has released seven studio albums, five of which have consecutively debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.[1] Disturbed went into hiatus in October 2011, during which the band's members focused on various side projects, and returned in June 2015, releasing their first album in four years, Immortalized in August 2015. They also released two live albums, Music as a Weapon II in February 2004 and Disturbed: Live at Red Rocks in November 2016, which was recorded on August 18, 2016, at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado.

I loved her reaction. Of course, those of us who are aware know David Draiman is front man for Disturbed, but also does a significant amount of producing for other artists. His voice, his instrument, can range from the sublime like in “The Sound of Silence”, to a percussion instrument, like “Stricken”, and “Down With The Sickness.” We have had hints of Dave’s brilliance in “Remember” and “The Light”, but “The Sound of Silence” simply revealed it for the rest of the world. Ironically, David’s dad, an Orthodox Jew, had never listened to him until he did Paul Simon’s song.

The S&G cover also appears on Disturbed's latest album, Immortalized." Dave Draiman, Disturbed's lead singer responded, "Thanks so much to everyone for their kind words, and especially to Mr. Paul Simon himself. The sound is not the power.. The sound is only the conduit.. Its power of the words within the tone, to reach the darkness, within the soul, where true power lies. Even when I first heard the 2 men whose voices I heard sing this first when I was very young, and felt the words come from them, I knew it had power. Disturbed tapped that power. They knew there was something more to be unleashed. And to see another feel that power makes me shake. Cause I can feel it as I watch.

His name is David Dramin and the group he is with is called Disturbed. You have to be dead not to feel something when you hear this song.

This version of Sound of Silence brings tears in my eyes every time I hear it. The way David’s voice builds up to the finale. Gosh! Words can’t explain it. You just have to let it in and it takes over your mind and body! Man! He has some amazing pipes! That voice and those piecing eyes

At least once a week I have to watch your specific reaction to this rendition of Sound of Silence. Even when I watch the new reactions, I truly get a kick out of watching your reaction. Classic! Thanks for being so open about how you felt watching it.

I found it interesting that you didn’t know who DISTURBED was, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. Most people dismiss them because they think “it’s just another metal band” but their lyrics are quite deep. Musically speaking, they’re amazing and David Draiman’s vocal range and control is just awesome... Great video by the way, I loved the reaction.

Robertson Thirdly there's Mine, The Warrior, and Who Taught You How To Hate just as a couple examples of good songwriting. Plus Sound Of Silence is a cover, originallyby Simon and Garfunkel

You just saw one of THE most powerful music videos that I've ever seen. That performance was spine tingling the first time that I saw it and still does something every time I've watched it. Whew !!!
