I'm not sure that's true. You have to keep in mind that cops are trained to try and keep a level head. A lot of people cry, beg, plead, and get angry when arrested or when dealing with the police, so they may be desensitized to it to a degree. Actually, really any public service job kind of does this to you. I work in social services, and at this point, while I definitely still have empathy, I also deal with a lot of people in crisis, so it just doesn't affect me the way it used to.

@@KarmenJonze That lawsuit would fail. The police officer didn’t know her age and was acting as quickly as possible to secure the entryway and the girl. She was in no way abused. She was scared. That’s all. And yes, it’ll leave a lasting memory of what can happen when you break the law, go on parole or probation and get revoked. You get cops at your door to take you in. If the family is smart, they would use this trauma as a teaching moment; Don’t break the law. And if you do, learn the lesson, pay your debt to the community and continue your life. Don’t mistake the court’s mercy and generosity for weakness. If the court chose to NOT imprison you, you’re fortunate. Comply with your probation or parole and move on. If you violate, cops will find you at the most inopportune times. And it might spill out to those around you. As a father, it’s my responsibility to be a good member of society. To safeguard my children, and my family I have to be present. If I’m out wilding out, I’ll eventually be caught. If I’m caught I can’t protect my kids. Moral of the story: Don’t be acting a fool. Don’t break the law. Don’t have a felony warrant that’ll get your family involved with cops. I’m a 2x felon. Paid my debt. I know what it takes to not have run ins with police and how to keep my family from having police encounters like this. I follow the rules.

I'm a parole officer, and we do home visits like this, and we can't just barge in, even if the person in question is on warrant, and MINORS CANNOT GIVE CONSENT TO ENTER A RESIDENCE. WTF! The lead officer should have told the other officers to back off, and he should have asked if a parent was home, or if anyone else was home. You work for the community! So do I! This makes me furious.

If the cops don't have a search warrant (different from an arrest warrant) you are under no obligation to talk to them, locking the door and hiding is not illegal, in fact after seeing this it might be the best thing to do. The cop intimidating a child like that, knowing she did nothing wrong and was not a target of their warrant is not only wrong it's disgusting and inhuman.

Florida, cops handcuff all poor kids no matter what race. One cop finally got fired after caught bragging about the 5th or 6th kid under age 7 he handcuffed. Every other state you are right. I believe cops have always targeted non white people, especially black people. They give them criminal records before they even reach high school to be sure they can not succeed or even get a decent job.

I could see them *potentially* treating a disabled child this way. Some disabilities, especially developmental disabilities, tend to result in such persons being seen as *not fully human,* and the abuse that can happen then often goes well beyond what many P.O.C. usually see.

Have you seen the case of the man(Ronnie O'Neal) who murdered his children's mother and his disabled daughter and attempted to kill his son too. The officer who was on the case visited the boy in the hospital. The boy asked him if he could just watch a movie with him. He had to go back to work. Him and his wife decided to go that night and watch a movie with the boy. They have since adopted him(they are white, the boy is black) and he has a great life with an amazing supportive family now. For as many bad cops, I have seen on this very platform, many white cops being kind and really supportive in black neighborhoods. Blanket statements like this are dangerous. These cops are bad cops and I guarantee you that they are bad to everyone. It's not about race with these assholes, it's about abuse of power. When they are getting off on advising their power of people they do not care who it is. White, black, young,old. These are the kind of shitty people who hurt small animals when they are angry!!!!

Cops suck. People need to stay away from most police officers. I've met plenty of good cops. Sad as it is cops are just as bad with white kids. We were playing tag and running and a stupid cop thought we were stealing things and when we ran the cop sicked his dog on my 11 year old friend who received 13 stitches from the dog bite. It's not legal to put a child in cuffs under the age of 14 in the state of California unless it's one of those pointless stunts where the parent allows it or they were breaking the law. This isn't that type of case.

NEVER EVER EVER should an INNOCENT CHILD be placed in HANDCUFFS! 🤬 I rarely get so unabashedly ANGRY, but seeing a CHILD, a TEN YEAR OLD, be yelled at and placed in handcuffs because she was afraid to open the damn door, JFC my blood is BOILING. Yet people wonder why SO MANY are afraid of law enforcement.

That is clearly and undeniably child abuse! These thugs need to be charged and prosecuted. They clearly have been behaving this way without consequences. I say F the police and any one who even attempts to defend this criminal activity. She was under ABSOLUTELY, AND TOTALLY under no obligation to answer or come to the door. They had zero suspicion that the child had committed any crime so they had zero basis to detain her far less to handcuff her and terrify her.

I'd be running, turning off the lights and hiding, too.. The police gave absolutely no time for the child to process any of this and now we have a 10 year old girl who will be broken for the rest of her life. Way to perpetuate the cycle of mistrust against cops, good and bad.

So. . . We can't afford to fund youth support programs, because these guys take all the funding. We don't invite uniformed officers to the community center I work at because COPS SHOULD NEVER BE NEAR CHILDREN.
