DISTURBING new Protoss strategy. StarCraft 2 (herO vs ByuN) 

Game 1, that has to be some of the absolute best PvT I've seen on this patch of the game. In a world where Protoss is noticeably underrepresented at the top level of the game, Hero still manages to execute an absolute crazy, high-level game against one of the best Terrans around. Really never felt like he was down or on the back foot, able to assert himself on the map at all times.

Hero is impressive at staying on top of the composition. He seems to always build the exact units he needs for Byuns composition.

I like Hero plan He made a good army and instead of trying to push the overpowered Terran defenses, he just took the map and started to save minerals and did not engage in bad trades to preserve his forces. He builds a fleet of 5 carriers. He could go to 10 or 20 but he stopped at 5, and let the Terran build a huge Viking fleet. Eventually, he made a recall push when the minerals on the map were almost done. He lost most of his army but also did good damage. He had 5k minerals in the bank, Byun had 1k. Hero instantly rebuilt his army (Stalkers) tailored to counter what Byun had now (Liberators). He also added Zealots as a mineral dump and sent them to destroy whatever Byun was not actively defending. I think it's stupid as the only way to defeat Terran is for them to not have ways to build an army given how good their defense is (infinite scans, mules, orbitals, liberators and siege tanks) but that's Starcraft 2 in 2023.

That game 1 is easily the most fun SCII game I've watched this year, possibly ever. That was incredible.

i always loved the phoenexs to keep the early medivacs honest, not sure why more toss players dont do that.

Hero uncharacteristically giving up mass gatewayman style for the mech toss and mowing down Byun with it. I think he found a new favorite playstyle.

I'd call Hero's first game impressively deliberate.

I think Byuns one mistake in game one was overproducing vikings. He thought hero would transition into full airtoss, but he never build more than a couple of tempests and a few carriers. The vikings were mostly dead supply which allowed hero to have favourable trades in the engagements. But really cool game!

I want to see that against Maru and then I'll believe this actually works against late game Terran Ghost. Fantastic game!

I love the "I am like everybody else, I ask for likes" into the "I'll probably do it anyways". For some reason I enjoy this approach time and time again.

That first game was awesome! So fun to watch.

Ghosts should totally be tagged light. They are probably less armored than a zergling

In game 1: 1. Feels like Battlecruisers for Buyn would have been great. 2. Buyn should have landed the vikings vs the stalkers to get some dmg in instead of losing all units for nothing. Same thing for the 3 liberators vs 3 carriers, he might have got one down if he has just pivoted.

The adding of cannons is nice. Give P some time and not losing base to some 8marines +2 marauders... also it bridges the early middle game when T has just superrior firepower. On the other hand it can slow down the entire game

Looks like Byun is playing out of his comfort zone, like experimenting with mass liberators or ghosts.

Winter - You have singlehandedly got me into Starcraft and made it a part of my daily routine. I only get to watch about 20-30 minutes but I really enjoy them. I wish you could make them a little more condensed but I dont have any good idea how to make that happen. Enjoy them all the same.

Small satisfaction from noticing the lack of Extended Thermal Lance long before the player and commentator and waiting for them to catch on. Anyway, great games! A pleasure to see Hero strong again.

I feel like Disruptors at the highest level are just a trap against Bio. Especially against players like Byun. It seems like storm is just better in every way.

Mechtoss is an interesting style. I enjoy watching it. Even more I liked Hero's bet that he could replace his units faster than Byun could. That's a play I'd never have thought to try.

I forgot about mules being able to mine gas lol. That was indeed a weird time.

Game 1, "what did byun do wrong?" - well there was that one time he lost all his Vikings to stalkers, allowing Hero to go way more unchecked with his carriers than previously. Not sure how much that factored in, but he never got up to that many Vikings after that.

Someone might help and steer me away from such foolish thoughts, but i wonder sometimes how useful liberators are. I've seen their usefulness, but i also see them sit as idle supply, and how long it takes for them to get set up, and i wonder how that gas and minerals might be better utilized as a battlecruiser.

Protoss Cannons? About ******* time!!! I put 6 on every entrance to every area (and ramp corner) all over the map, every time. They are such a time/supply sink for players to deal with that I've had many players RAGEQUIT just trying to deal with the "cannon-clusters", gifting me a W. They attack ground AND air, don't cost all that much in small clusters, and totally screw up people's attack plans giving your maxed army plenty of time to reposition. Nice to see the Pro's using tactics I used 12 years ago!! 😁

Stimpacks would interfere with the psychic ability of the ghost, hence why they don't have them? Another awesome video by the way!
