5:03 I think this is what the message of the whole Lacey’s series is all about. Context if ya can’t read it as the texts a little cruddy on purpose “while it was still twitching for memories are no substitute. Part of the ingrained paranoia was owed directly to the fact that they teach kids such perverse little lies that they pass off as truth” The series is about how childhood games like dress up to fall in love, a cooking game where your a cutie chef, doctoring etc etc comes with a fuck ton of stress which they don’t really acknowledge. Like a failing business, a deranged stalker and general just mental fatigue and destruction. It’s all about “OH YOU CAN DO IT! Gold star you mixed the cake!” And never about “if I don’t crunch my life into this business it will fail in an instant and it’s often not fair” Idk that’s just my fun little theory
In a way, Lacey kinda reminds me of my old boss, who was in his mid 60s. He came in at 7am and left at 11pm when we closed down, 6 days a week, and when his son died of COVID he just.. came in the next day. didnt even talk about it. didnt take a vacation. just got right back to work like he’d been doing for decades. Whats he gonna do? shut down and disappoint our customers for a full day? lose us all a day of pay when we were ALL scraping by to the point that back-of-house would actively feud and fuck with front-of-house when they would tip us out 2$ instead of 5$ because that 3$ was the difference between being able to buy a pack of smokes after a long ass day and just being SOL? And there were barely enough employees to keep our kitchen running on a NORMAL day, if the owner & head chef wasnt there to singlehandedly carry about half our workload, the kitchen couldnt function. And other “more successful” kitchens Ive worked in were WAY more nightmareish for us AND the upper staff. I’m sure this video has further implications beyond JUST restaurant work, but especially as it relates to restaurant work specifically, the good ending isnt even all that good. Shes “lucky” enough to do such a good job that she’ll get to struggle and struggle for years to decades on end, all to keep afloat a business thats probably barely turning enough of a profit for her family to live a comfortable, upper middle class life. only because shes so engrossed and consumed by her work that every hour is spent making money and securing a financially stable future, without being able to actually enjoy any of that financial stability, and actively suffering. Or maybe its not that deep. idk im just some dude. either way, this is a pretty interesting story with a lot of interesting implications
I honestly find this idea more compelling than what happens in the bad ending. No murders, no freaky imagery, just a girl running herself into the ground and barely keeping herself from breaking down, but she HAS to stay happy to keep everyone pleased, even if she's screaming on the inside. That's a horror we can relate to. We might not have to deal with cannibals or deranged chefs feeding us glass, but we know how it feels to destroy ourselves for the benefit of others when we're not even able to speak up about it. And having that feeling brought to life this way is very viscerally resonating.
I’m back after seeing all these comments and I’d love to elaborate more!! Flash games (for girls but also for the boys and they thems) where always about escapism, about the date with a cute boy, with running your own cute little restaurant where everyone’s forgiving, a pet shop where even if an animal gets sick it will always be ok! Lacey is about the decay of that barrier that “oh everything’s going to be ok!!! You’ll make it!!”. It’s a series where the main character goes through horrific traumatic situations where she thinks she can simply mask off from it because after all she has the cute date and restraunt but she’s not even allowed that. Her boyfriend ends up being a middle aged looking man who’s stalking her and sending her horrific traumatic shit. Her restaurant is failing because customers are so unforgiving they don’t allow her more than 3 minutes to cook a meal for them. It’s about the decay of childhood safe zones where the worst imaginable happens. Lacey is barely hanging on as it is (it’s suggested she has a lot of trauma before the events of even dress up) and she’s not allowed to fail or else.
@@Exetior_Jina_Lover I mean, people get attached to characters in movies/series/videogames... I don't think it's out of this word the idea of caring about lil Lacey here
i like to think that this diner takes place after the events of lacey's wardrobe i really wonder how she managed to survive from that stalker eventually
As a 2000s kid who grew up on the internet, this captures that era so well - flash games with compressed audio, the art style of a child learning how to draw anime - only to give way to an ugly reality. Love it. *EDIT:* Thank you everyone for the five thousand likes! In hindsight I wish I could've written this to be more eloquent, but it seems like everyone knew the vibe I was talking about.
The scary grungy backgrounds too feels so much like the 2000s to me, everytime I see pictures like that its just so nostalgic and makes me want to go there even though it looks scary
Oh yeah, basically every game on newgrounds was like this. Creepypastas and weird crap all around. The stripclub scifi shooter was a particularly weird one...
"why can't these fucking bastards wait 3 minutes for their fucking food" god, this gives me flashbacks of when i worked in a restaurant. obviously nowehere near to the extent of poor lacey here, but damn. still tho great vid, nailed the atmosphere
I worked in carwash, all I can say is that in the last month of my work there I did not care and would agrue back at obnoxious customers so much boss had to go downstairs to apologize to customer and scold me for fighting back, recently I got realy good job I like as an electrician, started great and I was at peace, until boss randomly decided to go on vacation, which practicaly means I would be jobless for a whole month, this "vacation" exausted me mentaly more than all 8 months I worked at that horible carwash, because the second money stops coming, it starts disapearing like sand, college eats money like crazy and my hair started turning gray, nightterorrs do not let me sleep
my interpretation of this whole story is that Lacey is not actually Lacey, rather, she’s a girl who imagines herself AS Lacey. she wants to own a diner, a pet shop, go on dates, etc. but the memories of whatever trauma she faced won’t stop seeping into her fantasies.
The fact that she was dead in the last video but alive here kinda proves your point. Or it's just each Lacey "games" has an alternate timeline. I'd rather use your theory as my headcanon.
@@jediapc226the story is basically - rocio has EXTREMELY beyond bottom of the barrel childhood - kills her uncle either before meeting grace or before becoming lacey (probably skinned him alive) for molesting her, SA'ing her and killing her dog - meets up with grace, her friend - grace is happy compared to rocio, basically polar opposite - they make yaniaso games, and then lacey is born - unbeknownst to grace rocio is doing drugs and other stuff like self harm - rocio has enough, and in 2004, wires herself into her computer to be lacey - unfortunately the trauma seeps in and grace has no idea where rocio is (rocio probably moved before possessing Lacey so no one would interfere) - now she is stuck in a cycle of dying again and again due to her trauma, her body is probably still out there
I think now (with the newest episode out) that this represents her being s*x trafficked by her uncle to angry men (the clients). it'd make sense as to why the used condoms are in a bowl
I like how she's literally a mangled bloodied corpse on the floor likely from suicide, and the game basically just says "nice one, dumbass, you lost" with a goofy sound effect
The scare at 3:30 kind of makes me think that maybe the meaning behind these is that Lacey has a shitty life (abusive houshold, stalkers) and these games are just her imagination, trying to cope and make her situation seem better. Her parents make her cook and abuse her if she doesn't do it quick enough, so she dreams up a game where she's a chef at a diner. Idk, just my thoughts.
In the same picture, you can also see cuts on her wrist, usually seen as signs of self-harm She might also be punishing herself for not being "good enough"
Can anyone transcribe the text during the meth and glass scenes? EDIT: I've transcribed all of the clips. Ghosttundra lmk if I should delete this. First bad ending @3:30 : "Stupid. Useless, Slow. Part of the ingrained paranoia was owed directly to the fact that they used to teach kids such perverse little bizarre lies that they passed off as the truth." - My interpretation: Lacey was unable to understand what happened to her or escape her victimhood because she was unaware of what was done to her. Babies are made by storks, she was told that you should always listen to adults, that being hurt meant that he liked you. ---- Now for the main event: Cigarette butts: "These moments were hard to forget because they were superglued from my heels to my thighs and not even the strongest bird beak couldn't peck them off. The smoke tinted me in grey forever and it madde me tear up so much I almost cried in front of him once. never again. Dead cockroach: "First they dominated the ceiling of my room. It also is a symptom of meth usage, which lacey references. p/rnography (warning, CSA implications :( ): (in the style of an HTML chat) "Face sucked by the static. The grains tickled uncle's eyes with pleasures. he was the same as me but didn't want to admit it. He lived in a world of his own where he was desirable and sensual and he got so use to his lies that he believed what the computer would whisper into his ear." Meth: I couldn't discern any text but it seems to be drug information. Broken glass: I couldn't read this one still. Help appreciated! used c'ondom (warning, this is heartbreaking and sick. Poor lacey) "And when he looked down he (saw?) my little bruised cheeks smiling back at him, the exact size of his sweaty palm. Even though they could be shaky, he was always the type to see the positive in things and he couldn't keep the mayo from raining all over it like a mad fever dream. I love Lacey’s design and how, even in the ‘normal’ bits of the game, her design is kind of dark and doesn’t quite “fit”, somehow… Or at least that’s how it looks to me. I hope she’s happy and able to make lots of food she’s proud of in the good end
Oh so this was a real game? I thought that it was a "made up" thing, like those ARG. It's really impressive and interesting that long before those kind of things started in popularity, people already had their ideas and vision in interactive horror and stories, specifically if they sneak it into something cute or "normal". Could anyone tell me who is the person behind this game? I would like to follow them, and if you know more content like this that is old, tell me! I really would like to know. :)

It took me until reading the comments (and even then, took me a while) to realise this game doesn't actually exist. I actually thought this was a real playthrough and it felt so genuine. You did an amazing job
Wait SERIOUSLY!!, this looks too real, and I've seen comments of ppl saying that they have played the game before, were they just trolling or something??
8:00 Maybe a small detail but I like how here even though the game is in its "horror" state Lacey is drawn normally. Throughout the game during the scary parts, she and everyone else are all mangled as if they aren't human or demonic. But here it feels like its saying that lacey is a human being just like everyone else. We have good days bad days but here she's suffering and needs help. The mangled and horrific images are just representations of feeling and distress.
Good point. After all the deformities shown on the screen I personally assumed Lacey was having a nightmare, but when I saw her in her normal appearance, smoking silently on the side of the road, I realized that there she was, a little broken girl who couldn't find a place for herself in the world. To say that what happens to Lacey is sad and horrific is simply an understatement.
I love how you consistantly manage to create disturbing imagery, its hard to nail that weirdcore visual but still make it new and diffrent, but you really did it

It’s funny how unlike other analog horror games, this Lacey girl doesn’t hold anything against us and even goes as far as to side with us. Mass respect for this W
Yeah Lacey is actually a sympathetic character whom you just feel bad for and want to help or just give her a hug for all the horrors she's forced to go through
I'm sorry, but 6:51 actually made me laugh. The way the meal's title is [censored for public health concerns] and it's literally so disgusting that its in-game textures are all messed up is so funny to me. The fanfare doesnt help 😂
Honestly the bad ending screen cracked me up too. Just the cheerful "Hooray! You did it!" sound effect with her just dead in an alley was so funny to me.
on one hand, the fact that Lacey, now completely broken, used as many shitty things as possible in the Dish of Hatred is absolutely horrifying and brings a chill to my spine on the other hand, the fact that Lacey managed to insert the mere concept of pornography as a CORE INGREDIENT is fucking hilarious
To add onto everyone's theories I also assume that one of the reasons Lacey is clinging so hard onto the restaurant is because the only alternative for her to survive is to move back with her caretakers, which whether that was neglectful parents or her uncle would either way put her back into her uncle's horrific abuse. She's willing to put up with extremely impatient customers and shitty apartments and the torture of being forced to fend for yourself with absolutely no guidance and barely any money at such a young age because the alternative is just pure hell. When people don't eat her food, she's forced to feel the anxieties of that potential fate grow worse and worse as money grows shorter, and with no outlet or safe space she spirals further as a result. So when her restaurant closes, she's no longer able to fend for herself and to her, it feels like she's dead no matter what happens next.
@Leafy_Wingsss I, too, think it's deliberate after getting more context with the other episodes. Costumes, disguises. Just like most people in Lacey's world. Just a façade that hides the horrible people and horrible trauma underneath the cuteness of the games.
Normally, I can stomach Analog horror pretty well. But this... this series succeeds in genuinely making me uncomfortable. It genuinely places fear into me in a way no other horror series has done for a while. I'm not saying that as a criticism, I'm saying it as a compliment. I am genuinely scared, and yet I crave more.
If you think this is bad then watch urban spooks horror analog series, it's probably one of the most disturbing content you ever witness involving child pedophile, rape, murder, and Gore imagery. It left me not sleeping for two days straight, between one day I decided to sleep early because of how sleep deprived I was. You have no idea how fuck up this series can get.
honestly, yeah i'm currently pretty shaken up after it lmao, it takes f'ing *guts* to get through that entire video, to the point the whole "un-" story appearing at the end shook me up less than the other stuff only because i couldn't get more shaken than i already was now if you don't mind, i'll proceed to cry in the corner and go through 10 minutes of pessimism, see ya!!
From the ingredients in the final “dish”, all of them seem to reflect a part of Lacey’s childhood trauma when you pause to read the text after clicking on them: Cigarette buds: an adult man (possibly her uncle) used to put them out on her legs, and it’s implied she almost died due to secondhand smoke Cockroaches: her old home used to be infested with cockroaches, so it was probably neglected Pornography: she mentions specifically online pornography, so it’s quite likely that she was exposed to that sort of stuff at far too young, either because no adults supervised her or her uncle intentionally showed her (either option isn’t very good) Meth: her parents/uncle were likely meth users, and she might have even done it at some point herself to escape her pain Used condom: Lacey was pretty obviously sexually abused, and considering how she describes “mayo” being on her body in the blurb, it likely happened at a very young age. Broken glass: Lacey cut herself on glass, for two possible reasons; either her guardians were neglectful again and she broke something and harmed herself while they did nothing to help, or she broke the glass purposely to self harm. Uncle: It’s clear that he was her primary abuser, and given that there is little mention of her parents, it’s likely that she grew up living with him. She hesitates before saying his full name, so she’s clearly still fearful of him even though she’s no longer under his roof. Poor Lacey needs a break
I think the true horror in Lacey’s flash games is these aren’t supernatural occurrences, the horror in Lacey’s is things that actually happen on a daily basis. Stalkers, Sucide, drug abuse. And it’s horrific because, as kids we went to these flash games to escape from reality
It's really sad that kids today are living with similar struggles, ones many of us have possibly gone through. I agree, though. True horror lies in what is already happening in the world. It's scary.
Guys flash games are not dead, there has come out a new estension for browser that replaces flash, everyone please install ruffle. It's not an archive like the others it's a downright REPLACEMENT for flash. All the old flash games work w it.
In my theory: Lacey was born in a low-income family and she was abused by her uncle, who groomed her and showed her pornography. Her parents were mostly absent and enabled the abuse. She grew up to harm herself and do drugs as a result. She then tried to open a diner as she was struggling financially. In the good ending she became successful, but in the bad one, Lacey's failed due to bad organization. As revenge, Lacey killed her uncle and served his meat to her customers. Her diner was closed, leading to her suicide.
I thought maybe she lived with her abusive uncle and wanted to move out so she opened a diner to try to save up enough money but this theory is still good to me
i just posted something abt what i saw in some parts that had text but u could rlly read them. at 6:11 in the p0rn thing it talks about "uncle". amongst other things takking about "him".
Subtitles with breakdown Cigarette butt: These moments were hard to forget because they were superglued from my heels to my thighs and not even the strongest bird beak couldn't peck it off. The smoke tinted me in grey forever and it made me tear up so much I almost cried in front of him Once. never ag-- Pretty obvious -- she's being seared with cigarettes by her uncle I find the choice of words comical like "strongest bird beak" being used to describe the situation lol Roach: First they dominated the ceiling of my room but then I started seeing them everywhere. Bugs and bites and dirt and ash and vomit where they shouldn't have been. They were all cloudy but crisp and very jumpy and -- I wanted to suck it all inside of me like -- This is a cockroach (lmao) A reverse frog dissection and end She's clearly being kept in an unsanitary environment, so filthy that she can't forget roaches crawling inside her one way or another, that she wants a reverse frog dissection to suck out all the corruption she felt from the infestation. Porn: Face sucked by the static. The Grains tickled uncle's eyes with pleasure. He was the same as me but didn't want to admit it. He lived in (unreadable) of his own where he was desirable and sensual and he got so (unreadable his lies that he believed what the computer would whisper into his ear This one is pretty vague on details because of the important unreadable parts that may dictate the whole meaning of the text here. Here's one of my deductions: The 2nd and 3rd paragraph mention a "he" -- I believe this is somebody Lacey met and they both know they are interested in each other. Unfortunately Lacey was being abused, probably recorded ( or not ) but the 4th paragraph suggests rumors got to the boy and destroyed her image to him. Meth -- nothing much here. There's a drug facts sheet and a piece of paper wih a scribble that has characters resembling " r o c i o ". Can't make sense out of that right now. But we know probably that substance abuse is in the picture. EDIT: apparently Rocio is a brand medicine for stomach acid Used condom and when he looked down he saw (to) my little bruised knees smiling back at him, the exact size of his sweaty palms. even though they could be shaky, he was always the type to (say) the positive things and he couldn't keep the mayo from raining all over it like a mad fever dream. what a relief, an -- of wrongness was disspited long before it got into his mind and screams were inaudible to his ears, it was just bliss. Well -- shit I think you can get this one already... That's literally sexual abuse being described here. Tip of your fingers, a firstly breachers your skin layers, getting underneath your nail, slowly but steady into your blood vessels. it loves to feed all your fat swirling around it as it rips through your muscle and touches the very core of your bones very slowly like a little kiss. Damn thats a savage description of self mutilation
regarding the pornography one, the "he" refers to her uncle. it's basically detailing how he used the media to lie, and feel better about himself. he relied on fantasy of an ideal self, one that he found via divulging in pornography.
I've watched this about 7 times now, this is such a good example of amazing digital horror! The fact that its going for the vibe of a flash game that was inherently made to tramuatize children, it nails that asthetic so perfectly. Also these visuals are amazingly made and leaves me really terrified,
For those struggling to pause the frame at 8:24 it shows a lady in a black onesie or something like that tied around in a chair in wires and the lady’s face is bloody but blocked by her hair. There is also an old 2000s computer beside her on top of a desk and figurines around and on top the computer. She appears to be inside a room where the windows are boarded up and a shelf or door way on the very left side of the screen
Her face's blocked by a black box though, it's like they didn't want to show them - maybe that image has something to do with Grace or Rocio, I imagine it's Rocio due to the similarities.
maybe that's to represent us, the game seems targeted to the young girl, and it's makes sense it's a lady image sitting beside of a computer like a subtle messages "it's your fault" :0
@@marsenix ooh that's possible theory! that's also interesting, but knowing lacey can break the 4th wall on wardrobe game, i guess this may be possible too!
My theory for this is this doesn't directly follow one person. It's supposed to show a different person in each episode of the series (one thing it relates em all is spooky guy we see in episode 1 and a bit of this episode). This series is really good! creepiest digital horror i have seen (probably ever)
There was an animation I've seen in Newgrounds about a hallucinated dog wandered into a strip club, he saw very disturbing things and when he regained consciousness, he realized he walked into a graveyard.
I think I agree with Gearisko's theory: Lacey is making these Flash games to cope (as seen in the final frames, we get to see a real Lacey in front of an IMAC) and the bad ending routes are obviously optional.
@shinu.. Splish splash, your opinion is trash. Lol jk, but really tho I personally dig this kind of horror, I believe it to be clever often, like in this case how the video is edited like it was uploaded in 2007 but is fairly recent gives the video an erie feel to begin with, although I'd argue the unclear imagery and loud noises are a bit exploitive of normal human instincts, I still dig it's premise of going into a disturbed, depressed and abused mind and expressing the despair felt by said mind. Or maybe I am just edgy and like looking into things too much
@@MightZJPoepet dw I agree on what you said, I do like it too it’s like some sort of lost media, though I said edgy cus I didn’t think gore and stuff like that is considered cool imo. sorry for the misunderstanding
i remember being scared of creepypastas involving with low quality yet disturbing screams... and somehow you managed to bring back that feeling from me by that jumpscare. glad i stumbled upon this series in my youtube feed.
With how the wardrobe game went and the line “You know how customers get when they’re hungry” I was expecting this to devolve into people trying to murder the poor girl and consume her flesh. The fact that it was somehow even worse than that is impressive, frankly.
in all seriousness though this is really well made. as a victim of abuse & suicide attempt survivor who played girls go games as a kid to cope with everything, this speaks volumes.
6:37 Idk but even with all the disturbing edits and effects, I still laughed at this part. Just random ass live action footage of some guy just made me chuckle in the midst of manmade horrors beyond my comprehension.
i haven’t been able to properly look at the jumpscare pics yet bc they’re so short. are they actually very triggering ?? i saw the cw at the beginning and i can handle it but i just wanna know cause i wasn’t able to see the first picture when it came up
I'm a bit surprised how many people actually believed this was a real game - The art style is very modern. That being said the vibes are pretty well captured and well made. I enjoyed the lacey's wardrobe video too, and I'm excited to see if any new lacey games content gets uploaded. (Forgot to mention this in my original comment but the sound effects are SO spot on! I'm not sure where they come from, if they're from existing games or stock sounds etc. but wow, they work really well.)
I 100% thought this is a real, old game before reading your comment. The anime character design you'd see on a breakcore album cover and the scrolling pink cloudy background had me doubt, but ultimately the nature of the game made it look like something a 2007 4chan user could actually make.
Nah its obviously inspired from modern horror games like doki doki literature club and the art style gave it away HAHAHA still a good experience tho. Wouldnt call it special or whatever
I was really confused because I thought the dragging of the food looked too smooth and precise to be done with a mouse. I was also like “wow, this game is super ahead of its time” due to the art and horror expression but now knowing that it’s fake, that makes a lot more sense
i do agree w this comment but while the art style is pretty modern, lacey's design still seems to somewhat take notes from a lot of mid-late 2000s anime art styles atleast from what i have seen
Honestly, this series might be the only one that actually made me feel scared and disturbed. I watched many series and most of the time i just feel unnerved. But this is very well done and you did a great job. The style is very nice and imagery is very creepy. I hope to see more episodes in the future. This series is very underrated and i hope it gets more attention. Edit: Well, holy moly, my dream came true! Congratulations, Tundra!

At 8:07 you see bruises on lacey's neck that reveal that she may still be potentially being hurt, or used to be hurt (after she probably fed uncle to the customers) Maybe she burned herself with the cig? I dont even know how to explain the blood.
I feel like this is a completely accurate representation of what it feels like to work in food service, honestly more people should educate children like this so that they arent doomed to repeat our mistakes
To be fair, opening a restaurant at all takes MAD cash to get started. So, I mean... it is a high barrier of entry after all. Not saying that's a good thing, but it's expected.
The fact that even after suffering much abuse she still tried to move forward with her dream restaurant which was her last hope, only for it to be destroyed 💔
it's so sad that these endings imply that lacey gave up on her life and took her frustration out on people who didn't understand her instead of telling anyone about her issues she keeps trying to delusion her life since it's all she has known through sex, drugs, smoking and various other things Even in the good ending, where she manages to surpass what her life left her with and seemingly become a great chef, she never tells anyone about how she really truly feels, and that is tormented to the point of insanity, exhaustion and complete despair which cannot be repaired completely by herself alone so really, the fact that the game comes back to the title screen after the good ending is fitting since she just ends up living the same days of struggling to survive with absolutely nothing she can find that is important to her in the end but with the game still continuing after the bad ending, maybe it instead implies in that case someone else suffering the same life lacey is? doesn't make sense that she comes back to life or Idk maybe she got hooked up to a computer revival machine or something but that's probably not what happened in short(and obv with not all the information i could gather), all of this game hints at lacey being an incredibly tortured person who only has herself and a horrible life left, which leads to her continuing to try and get over her weak self from all the years of complete and utter despair she has had to deal with or for her to end it all and reach the conclusion that death was the only place she really belonged in (which obv, isn't true: everyone deserves to be happy in their lives and live how they want to, while under the rules and all that stuff ofc. the fact that killing herself was the only possible way she was able to be happy speaks a lot to how harshly she was misunderstood and how uncared for she was) this analog horror is a great commentary on people with horrible work lives in general. the end product is an amazing RU-vid video for people interested in discussing topics like ones featured here, and i think the realism in lacey's character is a big compliment i have for it and probably one of the main reasons why i like her character so much glad this showed up in my recommended section and hope nobody hates me for simplyfing my take on such a complex analog horror so much👍 (i would be here for way too long if i was about to delve into everything in this, and after all there are other people in the comments talking a lot about this who i also think have better conclusions than me over a lot of the things here)
I wouldn’t say you’re simplifying the video but the only thing I have to say about this is it would technically be digital horror considering the fact it’s taking place during like the flash era of internet games :D
I remember a "dress up" flash game, where you can undress the character and... keep going. Skin, flesh, eyes until it becomes something demonic looking. The flash era was creative and so messed up.
You and the walten files are the only horror media that's been able to bring tears to my eyes from the amount of fear and disturbance i felt. Congratulations
God watching the drawings go from cartoony to the actual real life images for the customers?? So welldone! Ur art style as well is just so cute and stylized to reflect off the subject matter at hand.
this was one of the most disturbing things i've watched but i cannot underestimate how i chuckled when i saw the little squished "this is a cockroach!" text at 6:03
what a genuinely convincing recreation of early internet horror. i'd believe this was on newgrounds like genuinely 100%. its a perfect blend of modern analogue horror and old creepy eepy jpg mashing flash horror like actually wow. this salad fingers era to me.
Absolutely chilling. As someone who is just coming into adulthood, it's surreal to see those sort of similar emotions towards being independent and following a dream. "This is all I have. And the customers are hungry and unforgiving." Like everything is definitive and there is no other choice. It's terrifying. It is the struggle of the starving artist. Thank you for making this. Whether it's just to make something scary, whether it's to creep people out, whether it's just to share some amazing art. It makes me feel like I'm not alone. Thank you. (Yes I know this comment is cheesy asf but genuinely thank you)
I think we're all just better off dead, there's no point in living life because everything just sucks. All the good shit doesn't matter because all the bad is able to cancel it all out.
@@beyondthegrave124 it's cliche, but this also means the reverse stands true: things are cyclical, and you will still be able to have happy moments. The issue is letting yourself take risks and being emotionally open with others, since if you let yourself succumb to that extremely negative mindset, you're setting up a self fulfilling prophecy. Then happiness won't be cynical, because you won't let yourself feel it at ALL
This is honestly amazing and you are a master at making disturbing visuals. As someone who had to constantly watch my sister play these kinds of flash games back I'm the day you have really nailed the style down too. These videos have a lot of potential and I hope to see more.
ok so i just stumbled across this series cause of my youtube recommendations. seriously cool stuff. im HOOKED one piece of feedback i have is for the segment around 4:18, i feel its more effective to have the scene cut off before it says "killing myself", the implications are already very clear and i think not outright saying it and rather saving that ""reveal"" for the bad ending scene might work better i lov lacey. keep it UP
I watched Patratrick's video on it before watching the original, and he didn't show that part for obvious reasons. I was surprised to see that the original video actually spelled it out, because I agree, it's more effective letting it be implied.
This is incredible, and a very good representation of what it's like to live with PTSD and the suffering trauma survivors go through. Looking forward to more of your projects!
this is rly good psychological horror holy shit like i was actually shaking and my stomach hurt after i watched it and i ended up thinking about it later that night it gen feels like im not supposed to be seeing this
This is putting me in an insane amount of despair and agony, since i'm in similar situation (unable to survive on my own and do any job to sustain myself while having an abusive family)
Reach out! I don't know the exact situation that you're going through, but maybe there's family, or friends, or maybe even an organization that you could turn to.
This gives me Cooking Mama vibes with a mix Spooky’s Jumpscare Mansion, while having that old vibe of 2007 at the same time! You even nailed the sound effects, and art really well. What you did with the ingredients in the second half was terrifying, and the customers in the second half gave me huge Silent Hill vibes. I love what you did here!
"It took everything I had but I made it through... I have just enough to get by for now..." "...Do they appreciate what I do? Do they acknowledge how hard it is to keep this going? *checking online reviews late at night. All the recent ones are 1 to 3 stars out of 5* No. Of course not... They don't care. Nobody does. I'm all alone and I'm tired. I'm so tired... And there's no end in sight. There will never be an end... It'll be like this for the rest of my life won't it?... I can't take it! I DON'T WANT TO LIVE LIKE THIS ANYMO-" *It cuts to the next day with Lacey working away seemingly back to her cheerful self like nothing happened*
As a kid who grew up with Flash Games (and unfortunately stumbled my way into many games that were like this like Can Your Pet), this is genuinely one of the most immersive depictions of that kind of horror that I've ever seen. Well done, GhostTundra.
I'm five months late to this. While Lacey's Wardrobe was a good start, this one speaks volumes. The general vibe of the alternate ending route also hits a bit close to home ngl. A genuine good horror / That-Game-I-Found video. Huge fan of Lacey as well as I grew up as a fan of the edgy Vocaloid music videos (I still listen to LoveLoveNightmare, Marionette, and iNSaNiTY all these years later) and her design matches that in an uncanny way.
I like a lot of the art in this series, as many creepy faces don’t take the cheap shot of making faces black and white and increasing the contrast (like in the early Mandela catalogue episodes,) but instead elect for a more of a Walten files approach where the faces are either disfigured beyond recognition or they have slight changes in their proportions, which tends to be far more unsettling
I entered intrigued and just left feeling sad. There are a lot of hidden details that make you realise some of the worst parts about life. Perhaps you're just another nobody, like Lacey, a struggler who nobody would care about even when they're gone. Because there's already one of these, I suppose it's obvious that Lacey isn't a real person (Only Kenny can die more than once!) she's a metaphor. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I feel like these Lacey's "games" can be relatable in some ways. There are a lot of things that I like about Lacey's diner specifically, like the feeling you have nothing to live for or the one thing you have on your plate ruining your entire day, the feeling of just wanting to give up and the fear of failure. The reality of people bringing you up, coddling you to believe that you're special, you can do anything, which makes those moments where you fail more and more crushing to the soul. Then there's the natural environmentally bad parts about humanity like the drugs and addictions, being so bored out of your mind that you get hooked on the only things that give you dopamine. There are bad people out there like abusers who make you feel like you can't trust anyone else anymore, like they're all the same when there are nice people out there. Things are often presented to us in black and white, success or failure, we're always taught on how to succeed and never how to deal with failure, how to deal with depression, how to cope and get through even the hardest times. If these things are such simple concepts that even a teenager could think about them, or perhaps someone making a flash game in 2007, then why couldn't schools or our parents teach us? The latter of which are always constantly hoping that their children will succeed, just because they themselves didn't, pushing pressure onto the children even though most people don't amount to anything anyways. The youth of our society are getting sadder and sadder, more and more isolated, living with no guidance, no life prospects, no interests, no natural talents, no skills, no friends, no hobbies, no mentors, no father figures. and at the end of it all, it's up to us to pick ourselves up and out of the mess that we're all placed into, and it's either that or we give up entirely. and when we look at the ones who give up, we never acknowledge the problem, we just dismiss it entirely.
Everytime I see anything with Lacey in it, my stomach just does flips and I feel pretty unsettled and uncomfortable. Especially since I know the lore. Maybe because I relate to her with my own truama and subconsciously know that if I didn't get the help I needed and I wasn't surronded by people who supported me, instead of being all alone like her in a run down, depressing and impoverished neighbourhood. I might've ended up like her. And maybe...I just feel sorry for her. She's a fictional character yea but I still feel pretty sad over what happened to her...pretty weird, ik
There's plenty of disturbing bits to this but my favorite part is actually the pitch black humor in some moments like when the bad ending text pops up with the same triumphant sound byte. Looking forward to more if more is coming
