You know what's horrifying? This version of Lacey seems...at least partially aware that she's in a game. She talks to the player. She even begs you not to "make her" go outside, so she clearly knows the player is the one in control here. How many times has she lived through this scenario, unable to do anything to stop it?
Something about the amount of time it took for the player to get Lacey dressed at the end, or at least how long she stayed naked absolutely chilled me to the bone, i was worried she would somehow die naked to a stalker and god only knows what he’d do about that
I find it realistic that the stalker only shows up during the picnic and the house, the fact he doesn’t show up at the mall is realistic because it’s a public place 😂
But the picnic was in a public espace too, the difference is that there was probably less people at the place, maybe she was even alone at the picnic like with no friends or family
me, obliviously going in with a "oh hey i love old flash games!" mindset left with a "oh hey i love old flash games!" mindset 10/10 video would scare myself again
I think the most fucked part is the voice acting, most digital/analog horrors usually utilize the text to speech and overkill it but the fact you hear a REAL voice actor say all this stuff with a horrifying performance nonetheless kills you. It’s so eerie I adore it
And the thing is-is that this guy is based on a real dude. I think his name is Chris or something like that. This lacey game is based on one of the friends of grace who turned lesbian. I'm not sure neither it can be confirmed but that's my thoughts since I did internet digging into some archives
0:57 for those who can’t pause, it says “i love you lacey” and has a disturbing face in the forest 2:05 there’s the disturbing face again ^^ 2:25 it says “please help “ and lacey’s body parts are gone 2:26 it says “ he’s going to kill me” 2:35 knocks on the door 2:44 it says “there is a gift on your doorstep” 3:00 phone call 3:32 it says “ please don’t make me go outside” 3:47 it says “what have you done” 3:56 lacey’s death 4:16 the disturbing face 4:26 it says “ i ate her remains so that we will be together forever, i love you lacey”
Something I found a little extra creepy here was that, in the ending when we see Lacey's body in pieces, she's wearing the clothes the player put on her. Someone would have to go through and draw versions of those images with every combination of clothing, the idea of whoever made this going that far adds to the scariness a bit
@@vickiretali9024they're taking about the way she's drawn in the menu, nothing weird lol. The back bent in a way it shouldn't and her other arm conveniently hidden behind her body.
I have heard about this series from other people, but this is the first time I ever directly interacted with one of these videos I’m gonna say this is amazing good job
@@chrisdawson1776 imagine being so out of touch that you're angry over people pointing out real life problems 😭. has a woman ever willingly spoken to you? genuine question
the first time for me is for Girls last tour's character. that manga ending is just.............. ..... i just want them to experience a normal life in a normal world
I really like this series because it could be real in two ways, some poor kid comes across the games and gets scarred for life, and two that this whole thing could be real and happen to an unfortunate soul. So far nothing has come close to disturbing me and yet intrigued me as much as this series, I only hope we will see more of Lacey despite her prolonged suffering. I only got one request, if you do continue this series, please give Lacey a happy ending for us, one that gives her deserved peace.
I'm gonna be honest I would hate for this series to have some sort of happy ending. So far it seems like a morbid reflection of all the dark parts of reality, and to just force a good ending into it would fly completely in the face of that.
@@banebruja depends, if you wanna add it naturally, lacey would have to suffer "endlessly" and then put a indirect metaphor that she had died, maybe from suicide, or anything that expresses her sadness, and then, put a "happy ending" where it throws indirects that it's just one of laceys biggest dreams, that she was remembering it on her last moments and, why put that when it's no happy ending? it is. she dies happy, she dies in peace
@@rojascoronamariastephania4333 Boring. A even better ending would be Lacey breaking out of the 4th wall and ending the games that kept her trapped and looking for a new outlook in life
I always found it weird that you kinda just force whoever you’re helping getting dressed up. it always made me feel bad when I realize I should’ve chosen something else. I’m glad this was used.
Why does Lacey gotta have this happen to her man? Like I love how you captured the feel of a flash game but I'd just close the game in part 3. My girl Lace is my friend now
what the fuck No, seriously, what the fuck. I have never watched something that gave me legit chills like that. Jesus, the stalker was especially freaky with the black and white filter and just the way he acts is actually unsettling. Eugh. ...Also, I wouldn't be surprised if this was an in-universe PSA game about being careful around stalkers.
Same, normally i'm not scared of horror games these days yet this one literally made me scream. There's something about it's atmosphere and the childhood nostalgia of girly dress up games turning into this deep and personal mix of cutesy horror that not only scares me personally but intrigues me.
its honestly creepy how well the stalker is introduced into the story, we don't even get to know the face in the bushes is the stalker until the first phone call. this shit activated my fight or flight response i tell ya!
i love the color change at 0:18 and how the text only focuses on the “help Lacey” part!! excellent attention to detail and making the game every bit as disturbing and cutesy all at once
4:12 I adore how ghosttundra managed to fully depict the aura of disgust that comes from that guy's face (That damn eerie magical sound sent chills through my spine). It must have been one of the best character designs ever.
The death scene is nightmare fuel, Lacey legit sounds like she is in pain as she is tortured and torn apart by the stalker, crying as she begs for her life in fear, pain and sadness.
i both hate and appreciate the accuracy of the stalker's voice messages. that's exactly how psychopaths ramble - specifically the overuse of her name freaked me out. showed his obsession horrifyingly well edit: i meant psychopath as a synonym for general "crazy person" which looking back i probably shouldn't have lol it is a specific term that's on me
The overuse of the name specifically is a manipulation tactic because hearing your own name makes you feel good and actually releases dopamine, which in turn relates to a stronger connection between the victim since they will feel good around them, that's why psychopaths tend to do that.
God, that first scare one got me good. I was watching Lacy at the picnic, and saw a flash of red on the other side. I looked over fast enough to see it was text, but it wasn't on screen long enough for me to read it. So, of course I rewind paying attention to the specific spot the text was in, and then I noticed THAT CREEPY FACE. Amazing work with that! Also, the very last level had me panicking a bit with "GET HER DRESSED GET HER DRESSED" going through my mind, because I assumed the stalker was going to look through her window again, and I really didn't want him to see her in her underwear... which might seem weird, but as a girl myself, I didn't want that sicko to get any 'enjoyment' out of seeing her that way. Turns out I was worried about the wrong thing though. Poor Lacy.
i think he was always watching her, even from the beginning if you look out the window you will always see a shadow out there, I think he just gets closer in act 2
I was thinking about getting her dressed too for similar reasons, I wanted her to have some shred of dignity if/when whoever that was walked in on her (and also so he wouldn't get any sort of enjoyment from seeing her in her undergarments, so you said)
I know this is scary and all, but I can’t take the part where the dude calls Lacey at 2:58 because A. The ringtone is the same as that bootleg toy phone thingy that also plays the butterfly song, and B. That dude has the same speech pattern as frickin Walter White, like I was half expecting him to say “Lacey, we need cook Lacey, it’s the only way I can pay for my cancer treatment Lacey.” The frickin internet has rotten my brain you guys.
1:55 The stalker's phone call, immediately followed by a deep-fried closeup of Lacey's blank face, as if to say "tf did I just listen to?" made me laugh way harder than it should have (This isn't a bad thing, I just have a weird sense of humor lol)
ohhh my godddd. i’m super into horror and pretty much nothing actually freaks me out anymore, but this genuinely got under my skin. the combo of the girls go games era flash game aesthetic i remember from being a kid and the distinctly real fear of predatory men is absolutely chilling. amazing work
Same lol, dude I’m literally immune to gore at this point, I’m like “live anatomy class” whenever I see a gory scene lol, not even a shiver runs through me. I’ve been that nonchalant about these for as long as I remember lol.
i think this video scares me the most out of all the videos in the lacey series so far just because it’s a realistic scenario for many girls and women. it is an unsafe world out there and many dangerous individuals prey on them to fulfill their wicked desires. the stalker watching her get dressed is the part that disturbs me the most. she’s the object of one’s sick fantasy in her most vulnerable of moments. the illusion of safety and privacy has been shattered and she knows it. this kind of scenario plays out all the time in real life and it makes me sick.

If there were an option for handheld items, there should be a pepper spray, taser, and a katana for each level that would eventually lead to a happy ending for Lacey.
The ending makes me wonder if there’s also unique end cards for the other clothing options. Or maybe another ending if you wait long enough in the dress-up section of Act 3?
That feeling when the character begs you to stop everything, since they know they're in a game... *And you're actually watching an animation, unable to do anything but watch... That heartbreaking feeling of being omnipresent, yet unable to do anything. I think it's even more horrifying than the things that happen to the character*
I remember my watching my sister going onto a flash site (One dedicated to the Lacey's Games or just a normal flash game site I can't remember) and leaving the room because "I'm not into Girls games". (Funny how things turned out now that I realize I WANT to be a girl.) Moments later, I heard a scream and... she was never really the same since. We were pretty young back then and... ever since that day, she was afraid to leave her room or go out with anyone for a while. I thought she was just being silly back then. Years later... Now that I got to see the same series of events she did... I understand why she acted the way she did now. Like- Jesus. I know deceptive horror's all the rage today... and extreme stuff like this wasn't TOO uncommon back then. But... this was advertised as for kids with ZERO signs of there being horror shit in here. With... pretty extreme stuff even for the time too. Did some guy want to traumatize a generation of children? Or was there something deeper to these games? Either way, with most of these games gone or harder to find these days, my sister sorta questions whether what she saw was real or just a bad dream she's misremembering as real. Of course... I know it was real. I... just don't know if I should show this to her to prove it was, I don't wanna bring back any bad memories y'know? I also remember seeing other games on various other flash game sites myself out of curiosity, and playing a few of the games before going back to Happy Wheels or Tower Defense out of boredom. Thankfully before any of the traumatizing shit happened. If I recall correctly, I played the Lacey's Diner one and found it boring, there was a point and Click, a saloon one, one of those doctor games where you had to treat patients with the flu or a broken arm or something, a shopping one, and a basic jigsaw puzzle game too. My memory is hazy and this could just be scratching the surface... or me getting memories of Elsagate mixed in there, but yeah. I think I know why so many of these got taken down and why these games are hard to come by these days... SOMETHING just ain't right with them. There's a bigger rabbit-hole to this, isn't there?
Anyone remember the Lacey animations, too? After I found out about the Homestar Runner easter eggs, I thought it would be fun to see if any of the other flash animations I watched did stuff like that. Turns out that was a mistake. Clicking in the wrong spot in, I think it was the figure skating one, made me swear off flash animations for years. That blood was animated WAY too well.
@@sbennettpia I do remember seeing a few on Newgrounds and other sites... there was one about Lacey going to a farm I think? But I never actually watched them because I wasn't really into her games back then. Probably dodged a bullet because I was rather young back then and... you've read what a single game did to my sister.
with how many flash games were indie games before indie games... ...do you think these might've been a way for... whoever made them to vent? about their experiences and whatnot. ...maybe not, i dunno. ...never grew up with these games, was always a ninja kiwi kid myself, but i did hear rumours about it around my school. i'm gonna go with the "whoever made these made them as a way to vent" thought, but... i dunno. -also hi babe-
@@stativolt That's possible, yeah. Pretty extreme way of doing it, and then advertising it to kids, but I suppose that might be one reason why. -also hey-
Nothing much scares or disturbs me anymore. However, hearing Lacey crying accompanied by the sounds of her slowly and brutally being murdered was honestly really bone chilling. Great job!
1:30 Lacey oh lacey do you see my texts I cant wait to meet up lacey, I want to talk tonight to you lacey bye bye 3:02 Lacey im here, did you get my gift lacey? Do you like it? Im here open the door my darling open the door open the fucking door
Lacey's situation in this was badly unstoppable. She could only rely on the player, which was sadly unpredictable. She was smiling but heck I imagine her crying with fear and panicked quietly, hoping something would protect her from the creepy stalker. - Theories - 1. I saw someone theorize that the pink textbox at the start was the stalker's POV. I believe in that theory because the places that were said were a little too specific and the request at the end looks like the stalker's favor, not for Lacey. 2. Each background music maybe expressed Lacey's feelings, not just for the horror experience. The first music was happily cute because she didn't know about the stalker yet. The second music was cute but a little slower because maybe she felt aware and thinks someone was watching her? Then the phone call occurred, that's when the music gets intense. She felt scared and worried. The third music became darker and slower (maybe reversed too?), she became super worried. Then she got a gift and became horrified. Another phone call occurred and she panicked and became terrified. She somehow knew there was a player so she told "us" not to let her out. Sadly, she got ended, same with the music.
I know the video is kind of old and others probably pointed it out, but. I have two ideas. One is that the intro text isn't from Lacey's POV, but the stalker's POV. Because why would it say she will have a date with the 'cutest guy' only to then act scared and begging the player to not make her go? I think it's the stalker calling himself, in denial, 'the cutest guy' Lacey will have a 'date tonight' with, whether she wants or not.. whether she knows or not. He clearly watched her attend the picnic and then watched her shop. You can kind of see him in the window to her room, so he knows where she lives and at night decided to corner her. Second one, maybe the stalker was someone she met online? Kind of stereotypical thing, for a creep to pretend to be victim's age on the internet and then asking to meet him alone at night. So, she wholehearedly believed he was the cutest guy and not some adult stalker. And the reason why at the end she is begging to not go - maybe the whole thing is Lacey recounting her past experience (either as an adult if she survived the Diner or in afterlife) and when she got the moment she meets the stalker, she wishes she could turn back and rewrite what happened. But she can't. You can't help her either. Or secret third option - she WAS going to see a cute guy, like an actual guy her age she liked and the stalker just couldn't let her slip away. This is most grounded one, but I can still see other two happening.
@@aliceiscalling That's some fucked up yandere shit right there. This also means that Derek from @ChigkanNougat's edits (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1cItegN5Cfg.html) could have canonically existed.
This was honestly truly horrifying and I love it. It’s almost too realistic in its portrayal of being a victim of stalking and cannibalism. By the end the sounds of her crying as she gets eaten alive almost made me close out of the video entirely. This is even more terrifying with how Lacey begs the player to not let her outside showing that she is fully aware of what will happen to her. Long story short, great job
This, to me, is true horror. No joke this actually FREAKS ME TF OUT. I had my headphones on fully to listen to what the man was saying on call and when her face started distorting my heart rate when up a bit and i froze. Well done!!! this is so genius and so freaky!

Something I noticed is that in the transition from the instruction page to the game itself there is a frame where the colors invert and the instructions say “Help Lacey”.
I remember these games! As a kid, I played a lot of the Lacey's games. Particuarly the School House one. you explored a schoolhouse and solved puzzles, since it was on flash it had occasional bugs and glicthes that sometimes would freeze the game if I got a problem incorrect. Besides that it was a fun game, would always play it in the computer lab at school.
images after 3:47 signifies there is the versions for 9 other clothes she never wore before getting "tasted". I consider this lost media in a lost media.
I actually remember my sister playing this game. And it turns out, on the last part, you can’t just keep Lacey safe by never finishing. - After a couple minutes, the stalker will knock on the door and tell you to open it up once again. - Then, nothing for a couple minutes. - After that, Lacey will receive another phone call saying, “Lacey…you can’t keep me out, Lacey…I’M COMING IN LACEY!” - About three minutes later, you’ll hear the sound of glass shattering downstairs as he breaks down the window. 45 seconds later, he will come to Lacey’s room, drag her to the backyard and murder her.
what if the player selects the leave option during the timeframe of the stalker breaking in? Would that allow Lacey to leave through the window and escape?
This looks great! You've made such a nice attempt at making a digital horror video. Aside from the Chezzkids Archive, I wish there were more videos like this that centered on the genre of mid to late 2000s Internet computer games.
I know this comments realtively old, but theres a series called the adventures of bugbo that has a simmilar concept to this, but its for late 2000's flash animation
@DopoTheSockLord I've heard about Bugbo. In fact, I was one of the first people to watch it. You'll see that I've commented on one of the videos there.
Best ending: "you realize that Lacey was gonna get killed because of that monster and the only one out is if he was to die in the process, you studied the laws in the country and they upheld a 'stand your ground' sort of rule, this gave you a slight bit of assurance in the plan, you then locked any areas in the house which forced one choke point for the stalker to go through, he was persistent but perhaps he was ignorant, confident you hadn't been caught yet, so you then got your shotgun and your dog and hid yourself inside Lacey's room, you told her to grab her phone, a small knife, and hide somewhere safe, you'll be by yourself on standby. The night comes and the stalker approaches, the dog barks but the stalker pays little attention to it, as it was tied to a post nearby, but the barking alerted you, letting you know he's nearby, you ready your gun, safety off and aimed squarely at center mass, the stalker knows where her room is and went to enter it, shaking the door handle violently in an attempt to get in, this was it, all those nights and terror culminating to this, this moment was now do or die for the both of you. The door opens, shattering the handle, you fired 2 shots into him, two rounds of slugs into his chest, readjusting, you then aimed his head before he tried to lunge at you, firing into his jaw, breaking his jaw and hearing his broken and bloody wheezes as he runs past the door he once entered, you chased him out the door and fired the rest into his back, confident you would break his spine, immobilizing him both in his injury and fear. He watches helplessly as he tried to breath through his blood, you watched at the man as the realization sets in, all that time planning this thing, and just like that, the man you saw as the devil, for a time, you thought you were up against a monster, but once you had laid eyes on him, the devil's a real letdown, he stinks if he does not bathe, fat and ugly, his mother must be blind to love this... thing, you take one more good look before you put the bastard out of his misery. The shots and screams of both Lacey and the stalker alerted the police, for now the papers will be the real bitch to deal with, but thankfully, she's not alone in this one."
I really like how the window automatically draws your eye from the moment the gameplay starts, both with the out of place color, and with the odd, but harmless, rounded shrub. It's a very clever detail that puts the viewer on alert without them even realizing it. Also the period fashion is on point.
Incredible work. I can't wait to see more of your work. You have a great grasp on the liminality and loneliness of these flash era games. I personally love Lacey's design and the stories told about her.
I love this twist on dress-up games, because I consumed them unheathy amount, ironically alongside cooking games, what is just perfect when going to next part after this : D With simple elements, this is truly causing some good ol' anxiaty and that's something what I have always loved in that flash game era; Simple but scary af. The sounds when clicking things, same pose and flat coloring. How you go only forward and there's no way for the character to deny that fate is interesting way to use the more than linear way of the dress up games. You have done great work here and I'm glad your video was involved in random yt video I clicked on. 😊
i havent felt this unsettled by shit like reversed music/distorted faces/"please help" messages/etc. in like a decade. props to you for freaking me the fuck out lol :o) love this series, hope to see more in the future! /gen
When I first saw this the knocking actually scared the ever living shit out of me. I'm lucky to have never been stalked in my life, but dear god I thought that my lucky streek had come to an end all of a sudden.
I don't know why the other Lacey videos ended up being more popular than this one. This really captures the idea of a cutesy innocent flash game gone wrong. The other ones feel too forced for me, idk. I wish they kept it like the first one, I love it.
