I felt like they threw the whole 'never be alone in the garden, or anywhere alone with a member of the opposite sex' thing right out the window. ALL KINDS of unmarried people were alone in gardens and house rooms this season. What are the rules here?
@EraQuisnamVigila
@EraQuisnamVigila 3 месяца назад
The Regency period would never allow people to even leave a BALL once it had begun, without seriously offending the host. And yet here we are running off, unchaperoned, and having sex before marriage. No high born lady would do this.

it mostly applies to young unmarried women, so it doesn’t apply to married women, widowed women, older women, etc. and barely applies to men at all. but it does absolutely feel they threw it out the window this time

I think they are rushing it because they need to figure out how to best represent all the books and the books are not very linear and you need to get to know all the characters. They need to spend time on the singles so we get attached to them.

Jane Austen was a classical writer. This is more like Barbara Cartland with a lot of sex. I have been listening to all the audiobooks. I saw part 1 and I was not happy with the carriage scene... TOO SHORT, TOO RUSH... If you think this is bad, I think the WORSE yet to come. Michael (more handsome than the Bridgertons per the books) is my favorite male character in love with his cousin's wife (and their fathers were twins!!! so they are like brothers) and now he is Michaela? I don't care for the Cinderella imitation story of Benedict and his LGBT activities but MICHAEL!!!!! What about John and Janet? (Francesca's kids).

They didnt do justice with Polin, Benedict and Eloise seem to be completely meandering with no character development. And the worst, Michael is Michaela! Yes, same here! They were too heavy-handed with the hand-cam filter, twisting angle filter, blur filter, and they cut between shots so erratically that it interrupted great performances for no reason. The audio would be randomly up or down, and the music often didn't match the tone of a scene. Previous seasons were much better at creative transitions and blocking a frame. That sense of atmosphere seemed to be replaced by bad CGI landscape shots.

Yes! Like I really didn’t like the wardrobe this season. I initially loved Penelope’s more flattering dresses and colour palette but then they just completely threw out the regency fashion and went full blown 20th C styles and over the top materials. Some of the guests at the balls looked like they were going to an 80s prom. @izmatopia4347 Well, I believe that one reason that this series has been so successful is the fact that it is much more than just romance. It's more of a comedy than a drama, though. In fact, the show is brimming with social comments, from the situation for gay love (Sir Granville, Brimsley), to racism (mentioned in a conversation between lady Danbury and the duke of Hastings in season one for example) women's rights (from so many different points of view, really, but let's namedrop: Eloïse, Madame Delacroix, All the Featherington females including miss Thompson but especially Penelope/lady Whistledown, Cressida Cowper, Daphne ), social justice (Theo, Kate and Edwina's father), to name a few. If I wanted _only_ the love story, I would read a Harlequin novel. The Mondrich storyline is valid. From rags to riches (hyperbole, I know), and with money but still with a trade. I disagree that Colin’s changed personality was not discussed. As well as his journal entry and Violet’s observations there is also the scene in which he gets drunk with the three libertines at Mondrich’s: he admits to them that being forced by societal expectations to behave in a cavalier manner is painful to him, that this attitude disregards the only thing that really matters (love, genuine connection), and asks them (much to their amusement), “Don’t you find it lonely?” He also begins his address to Pen in the carriage scene by confessing that “for too long” he has been trying to be who society expected him to be (a rake) but is tired of this faux persona and ready, even eager, to acknowledge that this is not who he really is. So I was satisfied that his personal journey was at least adequately considered. I do agree that there were too many secondary characters leading to a choppy and disconnected narrative, and I completely agree that there has been a huge change re the much more modern costumes and makeup. I don’t think Bridgerton is obligated to be historically accurate, but yes, the new aesthetic leaves something to be desired. Hannah Dodd is plenty gorgeous-back off on the highlighter, please! And I also noticed and strongly disliked the anachronistic language, which jolts me right out of the ambiance. (“Marriage whisperer?” Nah.) I hope the new showrunner will pay attention to these fan reactions and dial it back a bit going forward. She can leave her mark without upending everything, surely? I still love Polin though, and Nicola Coughlin and Luke Newton are giving splendid performances.

Anthony at least had the decency to get himself a consistent mistress for years. so he’s not fathering potential bastards to be ignored. An STD’s 2. Benedict doesn’t pay for prostitutes. He sleeps with willing independent empowered women. not systematically oppressed prostitutes. 3. John Sterling is adorable. 4. Lord Debling by comparison, a truly secure man 🧍‍♂️ who stands for his own conviction. 5.Featherington girls husbands are cinnamon rolls The Colin we got. Is undeserving of. The ever faithful ever waiting, {Penelope}. Loyal to Odysseus wayward wondering 🤔 Man W***ing ass. They had so much potential. The chemistry and story in season 1 and 2 were so cute and refreshing but the writers instead chose to turn it into a typical overused fuckboy redemption story. There are other ways where they could express the 'trying to fit in' storyline but they chose to ruin Colin's character instead. 😤 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️ I can pretend to be a thief, but if I’m actually thieving, then I’m a thief. It’s not a persona or an act. It’s who I am. Because it’s what I’m doing. Having Colin be a sellout to his morals and values. That he once held also dear. After one summer away because Penelope didn’t write ✍🏻 him ? compromises him as man in the eyes 👀 of his fan base. Simon and Anthony never held such values so they weren’t betraying anything. Colin was supposed to be one of the exceptions. All the Featherington girls were supposed to marry cinnamon rolls. It’s not fake or faking when you actually sell your integrity down the river. Just to be accepted. And become everything you proclaimed that you were not. You are who you choose to be. When your morals can be compromised just for the sake of pointless validation. What would’ve actually given him a leg 🦵 to stand on is if he wasn’t doing everything he suddenly deemed reprehensible. And unworthy of the title of gentlemen If Colin had felt a bone-deep disdain for this ridiculous society that he had been born into. He would’ve held himself to a different standard, hold on to his Morals even if was just privately. (But he didn’t) 👶🏽👶🏽👶🏽👶🏽👶🏽👶🏽👶🏽👶🏽👶🏽👶🏽👶🏽👶🏽👶🏽 You would think after everything That happened with Marina 🐚, a truly compassionate man, sensitive, thoughtful & caring wouldn’t risk putting bastards into the world just for them to be abandoned. And never know their father. Imagine if Colin father a daughter who ends up being some man’s W****. And Toy 🧸. You would think a man of HONOR would think about Those consequences. Colin was held to a different standard than Simon and Anthony. Is it right? Is it fair? 🤷🏽‍♀️. He’s the puppy. He’s the sweet loyal Hufflepuff 🦡. He’s supposed to be cuddly and non-threatening one. Simon and Anthony are best friends for a reason they’re both touched in head, assholes. It’s understandable, why they are the way they are. We know from the books that Anthony is planning on dying young like his father so he’s trying to avoid attachments. The man is a bit tweaked in the head from taking on so much responsibility at the age of 18 and having to deal with his postpartum depressed grieving mother and all of his 7 siblings. At the end of Anthony season. He learned that the man that he was was no man at all. He was a reprehensible thoughtless Cad. Who needed to humble himself to deserve his soulmate. And you’re telling me the lesson Colin learned in this is be a W*** in 17 cities. 🌆 Colin is a trust fund brat, who gets to travel the world on his rich 🤑 inheritance. Making him a Mr. World international Rake. Makes him extremely selfish. Even more than Simon and Anthony. I saw on Instagram a interview that the actor (Luke) didn’t like the whole brothel scene. He said the characterization came out of nowhere for him. Kinda took him by surprise. 😮 It’s one thing to surprise your audience with a character change, but to completely deform the character to point your wondering, who the hell is this creep? Long story short Colins reasoning for becoming this man is empty and hollow and it makes Colin looks empty and hollow. Colin have spoken so strongly against the practice before. a true gentleman would never expose his lady to such a health hazard. What does it mean of Colin, that you would risk Penelope like that?"

@@sarickacampbell2642 Um, wow. All respect to your intense commentary, and I agree with some of it, but. . . you do realize this is just meant to be entertainment, yes? But to respond more seriously, as your post deserves: From a psychological standpoint, Colin is a people pleaser (one of Violet’s “most sensitive” children, as she says, “who always puts others first”)-suggesting he is suppressing his own instincts in an effort to be what he thinks others expect him to be. I personally think he is MAKING UP many/all? of his “exploits” in Europe. For example, his rake friends complain that he has never given them details of his dalliance with “the Contessa”-perhaps because there was no dalliance with a Contessa? He visits the brothel as a part of an evening of drinking and carousing with the misogynistic trio (who openly bully and mock him, and whom he ultimately rejects with clear disdain as he literally pushes them aside to find Pen at the final ball). Further, on his second visit to the brothel for a threesome, Colin immediately realizes/accepts that sex without intimacy is of no interest to him. Yes, he is far from perfect, but he is trying to find his way, and all of these episodes, plus Violet’s excellent and subtle intervention, finally embolden him to embrace his true (and, I would argue, cinnamon roll-ish) self. As for bastard children and STDs, well, those are absolutely legitimate real life considerations, but this is fictional Bridgerton, where it doesn’t rain and where wisteria seem to bloom year-round. It’s an overt romantic fantasy that in no way wishes to tackle such real-world issues. Doing so would make it an entirely different show. And finally, a minor point: I sort of disagree that the Featherington girls married cinnamon rolls. Pushovers, yes, and Mr. Finch seems pretty sweet, but Prudence’s husband, Mr. Dankworth, is portrayed as rather a narcissistic twit. Again, IMO. Anyway, I just don’t see Colin as an evil cad but rather as immature, overindulged (yup, by that super-supportive family), and overly empathetic, thus way too concerned with others’ opinions. And he is working on it! Plus, Luke Newton’s performance is pretty obviously (again, yes, IMO) intended to be gentle and sweet and a bit confused by all those new “confounding feelings.” Even when he acts out (toward the trio of rakes, toward his mother) he IMMEDIATELY asks for forgiveness. And let’s give Pen some credit. I would argue that she is too smart to be fooled by a rake pretending to be a pastry. As Lady W, she immediately called out Colin’s temporary playboy persona when he returned, observing with great insight that Colin himself didn’t appear to know which personality was the real one. Anyhow, that’s my take and thank you for letting me share it. I love the show as you clearly do, and I am sincerely sorry that you found Colin’s arc so disappointing. There are elements of Season Three that disappointed me, too, as I detailed in my first remarks, and I find feeling that way rather painful! So, hugs, and I hope the final four episodes are at least a partial redemption of the season for you.

@@MindiB Out here working hard. 😓 to make season 3 Colin character characterization makes sense. It’s one thing to send a character away every summer for him to come back with a new personality, but to send him away only for him to come back. With his core character completely nonexistent. is it unforgivable offense. Simon and Anthony were never 👎 emotionally intelligent to begin with. That was a journey they had to learn. But Colin is. They had the perfect set up to tell a different story with a different male lead and they copied and paste and did the same exact thing. The groundwork was all there. And the fact that Colins’s name actually means (Cub/Pup 🐶 ). And they ruined him by turning him into a dog. 🐕 Colins by no means the only character to suffer under the new show-runner, but he is the worst. Bastards do infact exist in this world Queen Charlotte says theirs over 50 for the crown, 👑that she ignore’s. Because that’s what happens to bastards. Whistledown feels neutered, her sass and her spice is definitely absent. Proven by the fact that in 4 episode, I can’t really remember a single iconic memorable line/quote from Whistledown. Porsha feels meh so those Lady Danbury and the Queen compared to their characterization in the past. I despise Colin‘s characterization. (Chris) in 2022 said {Polin} was going to have some Emma influence with a bit of clueless vibe he was setting up Colin to be the (Cher) of the Bridgerton universe, the ‘Clueless’ “Virgin who can’t drive” (Jess) turned him into a disgusting 🤮 Rake because her grandmother likes smut. 🤨 Is the show can’t have it both ways there can’t be consequences with Marina and the female characters but no consequences for the males. Obviously, they exist, but because Colin is a privilege man, he doesn’t have to live with them. That’s the major part of my gripe with his characterization this season. An emotional intelligent man thinks about these things. When Anthony tried to. Belittle him in season 1.For not being like him. And he proudly stood against it, proclaiming who he was. And who he intends to be. that was sexy to me that was a man.

Okay, just gonna break down my opinions: a) Mondrichs were fine for the first two episodes when it was small scenes of them entering society but after that they were irrelevant b) Lord Marcus and Violet should NOT have been in the main show but in the Queen Charlotte one where Violet and Lady D actually discuss Violet wanting to take on a lover after all these years so their scenes should've just been out c) Benedict and his far too many flings are unnecessary and skippable. If they wanted to make something about him giving up this behaviour to pursue more serious things in life they could've done that in a couple scenes and link it to how he enjoyed running the house in Anthony's stead, much more interesting and less repetitive d) Eloise and Cressida were entertaining but there is an already stuffed storyline. I wouldn't have minded their scenes IF the others (the previous points) were reduced e) Francesca and John were very cute so I didn't mind them but, again, too much time spent on both her and the 'diamond' storyline. Cut that down and just focus on her meeting John and their companionship f) The Featherington plotline were one of the few that I acc loved (unlike in S2) mainly bc Pen IS a Featherington and their relationship with Pen is important for her g) The costumes look really weird this season. Some of them look really cheap compared to the previous seasons I'm holding out hope that Part 2 will give us the Polin we deserve though

How were the costumes a 'mess' they were luscious and beautifully designed. Historic but with a modern edge like the rest of the series which helps it appeal to true fashion and textile enthusiasts. Unnecessary to most watchers but the kind of formula required for the 'reality tv drama' generation to keep them hooked.

There’s no “I burn for you” or “bane of my existence” for Polin because their love story is different from the boisterous ones in two previous seasons. They’re friends to lovers which shared previous moments already. They only need to realize it and get together, so it appears to be more subtle and tender. They should have shown us the extent of strain in her family.. especially her relationship with her mother.. should have shown us how she came to feel at home in the bridgerton home.. how they possibly welcomed her and accepted her. Should have shown us how hher love of books began and what motivated her to start writing. How did she learn how to write since theres no schooling for women? Should have showed us how collin was when his dad died and why he is such a people pleaser. His friendship with pen in childhood. His relationship with his brothers, how he got into sleeping with prostitutes, his relationship with alcohol and his travels. In short. They failed the story of the plus size woman

Agreed. Her mother seem to 'come around' very quickly to understanding finally "seeing" Pen for the amazing PERSON she's been all along. It was too jarring and felt too scripted. I understand her mother's character is set up to offer levity to counterbalance the serious nature of other plot lines. But, instead of allowing us to see her character unfold in growth, along side Pen, she's portrayed more and more like a clown. There were a few moments when it looked like they were going to "go there" and REALLY uncover the hurt & torment that Pen's had to endure all her life, in the shadow of them all. But the production pulled back and stayed surface level only. A real shame, as it was a terrific opportunity to build a connection with the audience.

I was wondering if someone from production left because it was lacking in so many areas. It's like they gave up lol. Penelope has one of the most intriguing female character arcs to me. I love the idea of the quiet, shy, wallflower that everyone overlooks as nothing special having another identity that is contrary by being popular, bold & powerful for that era. So I'm confused on how they fumbled this badly with the storyline. They spoke of so much development and seeing them come into their own but ..barely. unless it happens like last episode. Colin was likable in past seasons as the kinda naive but caring & kind in S3 he dosen't have enough depth. If this was my first time watching Bridgerton I wouldn't have been able to tell who the season was actually about, They focused on their relationship development way less. We didn't see Colin realize his feelings for pen gradually while spending time with her, he just kissed her & magically fell in love and it wasnt executed well or interestingly enough. On paper they had a lot to work with, not bad but definitely lacking. Hopefully season 3 part 2 will be the better part.

I tend to agree. Too many stories going on at the same time but not enough depth. Too little time to build up Colin & Penelope's storyline. I can't believe he asked her to marry her like that! Some costumes are indeed too extravagant (the Cowpers in particular). Prudence Featherington is suddently married!? The Featherington's daughters attitude is a bit too much. In some scenes you see the background is created digitally. I hope the second part gets better.

Omg, thank you! I thought i was the only one that noticed... i was disappointed by part one... i was soooo hyped up for it an i had great expectations seeing how they promoted it and because they're characters we already know and love, but everything was so rushed and i feel like we didn't really see any of the characters or their stories enough... i feel like i font known anything about anyone... at the curent moment I'm not at all invested in any of the plots... - i couldn't care less, about Francesca, - i really don't like Lady Arnold, and dont see the point of her, - idek what's going on with the Mondrich family and don’t really see their role in any of this, - Portia Featheringthon lost all her charm, - the Queen and Lady Dambury are almost nonexistent and didn't bring nearly enough drama, - Violet is truly obsessed over Francesca and even if i find her potencial new romance intriguing, i feel like the guy is just too forward abound it (like he legit told his sister to help him get with her), - the wordrobe is a true mess, - we were promised Kanthony and we got close to 0, it's like once a Bridgeton is married, they fall of the face of the world - and dont even get me started on our main couple... everything was rushed, Penelope's forgiveness of Colin, her transformation, her relationship with lord Debling (him as a whole; we know shit about him, and he's also probably gonna disappearfor good now), the hole thing with the kiss! OMG, IT WAS STRAIGHT TRASH... like, yes, I agree that it should have happened and the scene itself is good, but it happened way too soon; Penelope wasn't nearly as desperate about it and at rock bottom as she should have been for that scene, and Colin wasn't nearly as interested and enticed by her as he should have been. AND THEN, everything that happened after and his reactions and dreams and "slow" realization, truly wasn't slow and frustrating enough. And from the little teaser that we git at the end of part one, although I believe the second part might be more exciting it seems it'll be just as rushed unfortunately... they truly should have made part one in it's own season, even up to the part they get married (maybe elpoe, ao that Eloise couldn't tell Colin about LW's identity) and the next season have the plot of Colin trying to unmask LW as a secondary plot to the main couple of the season, and that would even have been closer to the book if I'm not mistaken (i think he finds out years into their marriage). Oh, and the friendship between Eloise and Cressida is a bit pointless and underdeveloped, unless they decide to make them more than friends. I say underdeveloped because we haven't seen any of the "Cressida was there for me, and shes a true friend" And the other 2 Bridgeton siblings are virtually nonexistent as well Anyway, thanks again for this video, it really scratched an itch for me and you pointed out some things that I didn't notice, but probably played a part in my disappointment, without realizing (like the languageused).

I agree about your comment with season two. I found it so tedious. Also with Edwina I was just like she recognised earlier on that she wasn’t that interested in the VA. He wasn’t truly interested in her because he was too busy doing a battle of wits with Kate and some of the scenes that they shared didn’t actually happen and I just felt it was unnecessarily drama, obviously, we don’t see so far lady Mary and Edwina this season Edwina has had a successful marriage overseas. But there’s a lot of people talking about events and in fact I think Colins comment seems years rather than months is a little bit of a dig there. But even Nicola and Luke have said about the flashbacks they’re just wasn’t enough in there because there is so much going on and I’m like yeah but if you’ve got rid of the moon, they’re not really necessary now to the story they won’t see one because they served a purpose (Lord Featherington gambling)

Dude trust me he will beg, crawl and ball out his eyes for pens attention in the second half. It’s the same in the books I know they don’t follow them along exactly but he legit has only just realised he likes her. He’s only just started seeing her as a woman. In the second half of the series with him inevitably finding out she’s lady whistledown which he already stated multiple times he despises he’s gonna realise the extent of his love toward Penelope. Trust if they use bits of the dialogue from the books, which they do, it’s gonna be amazing. His love confession to Penelope is everything and so much drama is gonna go down!!!!

I agree this season is far more modern than the past seasons. It's odd. There's too many storylines going on all at once and no explanation or back story to any of them. I fell in love with the stories and characters of the previous seasons but the two main characters' storyline for this season is being spoon fed to us and it's getting lost in the crowd of all the other storyline.
@GooniesGirl

I tend to agree. It almost feels as if they made season 3 assuming the audience has short (TikTok) attention spans jumping from one character/subplot to another. And didn't trust that its leads/main storyline could carry thr show. But I will reserve final judgment until part 2 drops.

Well said!!! When you have a great script, actors, production company and director--a slow burn and giving the audience time to acquaint themselves and give the relationships "air to breath", moving things along at break-neck-speed is not necessary. That said, perhaps S3 is setup for a younger audience given that Pen & Colin are younger in comparison to the main characters of the previous two seasons?

The costuming has been inaccurate since season 1, which is whatever to me because this isn't a serious period drama like Pride & Prejudice. Just look at at the music. I just hate how distracting the costumes look now with all the glittering.

I meet the criticisms with a different perspective. Throughout the series, we have seen Pen and Colin be friendly, know one another, and slowly build affection with tension and sorrow and conflicted feelings. I don’t think we needed to spend as much time on them getting to know one another as they have known each other for years that we haven’t seen. Only one direction to go from here and that’s for them to get together. As more of the Bridgerton’s and Featheringtons are married off, we have to introduce new characters and dynamics to explore. That’s not because Pollin were a boring couple. But to provide new faces to carry the rest of the series. This season was different from the first two and I’m so glad it was. Penelope coming out of her shell with new wardrobe and looks could only lead to her literally coming out of the shadows as Lady Whistledown. The more her hopes and desires came true, the more confident she grew, and the way her mother witnesses this growth, is a mirror for Lady Featherington to trust her daughters more. there is kindness and healing after all the bull shit that family went through. I loved the symbolic representation of the butterflies being released after Penelope came forward - she has grown and evolved and can now truly be herself freely and in the light of day. For depth, character growth, emotional acting and anticipation - this is the strongest season.

I find it very disrespectful to both the characters and actors of Colin and Penelope for how they just threw them to the side when this season is literally meant to be about them!

Classic case of expectations versus reality. I think this season has been over-hyped by the showrunners but, IMO, has fallen short of audience's (my) expectations. I didn't know there was a change in creative directors, and understand the need to do other things, but I don't think Chris should have stepped away from this season, especially since they brought POLIN forward in the timeline. Everyone has been waiting for them to have their own time with the expectation that they would be the focus, but we aren't getting that because we're stuck with a new director and her "viewpoint." I wonder if she found POLIN's storyline a bit boring when reading the book and therefore thought it would be best to supplement the storyline with others. I also wonder if the transparent gloves (Francesca and Penelope) and the exaggerated sleeves of Cressida's dresses are symbolic of the characters; meaning the exaggeration could symbolize an over flatted ego or self-importance within society, whereas the gloves symbolize the need to be seen as they are, but not be completely exposed when in society. I also sensed that Colin's attire resembled that of a swashbuckler but as soon as he returned, he changed back into what was expected of him; or at least tried to. His style is ever evolving as he searches for his place within his himself, his family and within society; it has taken on a little bit of both personalities (aristocrat and wanderer).

I thought colin's hair was ridiculous. Also he is a subtle actor so his style of acting should have been supported by close ups and other camera work. But it didn't happen so, you barely notice his expressions. I hated the Pen was so apologetic for EVERYTHING. Like she had no backbone, I wanted more of their childhood. The only time i got goosebumps about their connection is when she was walking down the aisle unsure of herself and he basically nodded like 'come on. we're okay'. Sigh...Season 2 i couldnt stop rewatching certain episodes and scenes. The more I watched it, the more i liked it. Queen Charlotte was a masterpiece. With season 3, the more I watch it the more I hate it. So disappointed. Was really anticipating this love story

Personally I’m tired of the “woke” bs on these shows. If you were an ACTUAL fan of JQ and read these books when they were ACTUALLY written in the early 2000’s. I was a fan of her style of writing from the jump but must EVERY character and/or couple be changed to fit the “woke” narrative?! It would be nice to actually have the rest of these characters be more of what the books ACTUALLY consist of. If the fact that they have made Eloise’s character seem like such a meanie to Penelope, and wtf was this mess with Benedict’s character??!!! Seriously??!! Did the screenwriters try to see just how far off they could go with a character??!! And the 💩 show of Francesca and Kilmartin and Violet and Lady Danbury’ brother… wth was that??!! They seriously screwed the pooch on this season. I truly hope they realize the “woke” agenda has gone a bit too far and they need to chill out before they COMPLETELY RUIN what’s left of this series

they could have cut - lady danbury’s brother (especially since his whole storyline makes close to no sense if you haven’t seen the spinoff) - the mondrichs - michaela stirling - most of benedict’s scenes - most of lady featherington’s scenes ab trying to get her daughters pregnant and added like… actual character development for colin! my favorite parts were the relationships between penelope and the featheringotns, francesca and violet, penelope and eloise, eloise and cressida, etc… i found myself wishing the romance wasn’t even there

It sounds like you and other fans missed the more subtle lead ups. Astute viewers saw the signs. It wasn't from the first kiss. Colin's feelings for Pen started changing from the minute she entered the ball in the first scene. His apology to her is another step. The bandage scene and the interaction they share before and after. How he quickly follows her into the tent when she beckons, his reaction to her licking icing off her finger, his heroics with the balloon and the longing looks. The chemistry builds in every episode. The language in the script was made to appeal to an American English speaking Audience so they'd be better engaged. E.g. British English does not have 'candies' it calls them chocolates or sweets.

While I enjoyed season 3, it seems that we were deprived of Colin and Penelope over and over again. Loved what we got to see of them but was left wanting more. Not enough Colin & Pen, too many unnecessary, lukewarm mini-plots that felt like the Main storylines instead of POLIN SEASON. Luke & Nicola did the best they could with the little they were given. The writers cheated Polin & fans from their shine season.

Yep ... I noticed those expressions that were 'out of date' for the era, and how the clothing / costumes were quite out of context for the era. I do wish to God when productions convert a book to a television miniseries they would stay true to the way the original writer wrote. Very offputting. I found myself looking for "what else have they stuffed up" rather than just enjoying the book come alive before me. Not real happy with season 3. But ... to be honest, when they completely cocked up the story about the fallout between Pen and Eloise I had misgivings for series 3 from that moment. Sad.

I loved that they didn’t need much build up because the live had always been. The kiss, dream and jealousy awakened Collin. He also had already been out in the world and seen his wild oats and was done with it! Pen already knew deep love for Collin for years and was waiting on him to acknowledge her as his love. I like how the season so far has touched on all the other matches and love stories brewing. I have but haven’t read the books. I’m working backwards on that but I don’t care if the storylines are way different as long as I enjoy it. I like that many aspects hair, costumes, make, styles are very different than other seasons. I have no criticisms as the season is only half done and I like it so far more than seasons 1 and 2. But favorite is still Queen Charlotte. I would love to see Violet’s story covered similarly to Charlotte’s in a side mini series! She is so interesting and deep!

I think all we need is season 3.2 and forget all about this one. Lady Danbury's story of her brother could have been in Queen Charlote s2 as Lady Bridgeton was talk about how her garden is in bloom in s1 therefore her love story could have been seen or shown there. Miss Cowper could have married Lord Debling (after ending things with Pen), Eloise could have visited Franchesca (eliminating her from the season) wherever she was so that she could come back next season and tell us of her finds about the world and what need to be changed according to her, she also could have not become friends with Cresider but given Pen a chance to explain and they could have worked together to make as she mention is what she would do if she met Lady Whistledown . Then this would leave some interest in the ton as Lady Whistledown would still be a mystery to them leaving the Queen still on her toes and therefore leaving room for Pen and Colin to yearn for one another as all the main couple has or this season could have been about Benedict and his love story leaving us to yearn even more about Polin. sorry for the long comment but this in my opinion would be preferred for Bridgeton to be admired as we did for s1 and s2 leaving us wanting more. I feel as though this season was made to look as if it was marking the end of the series :(😮‍💨😮‍💨🥲🥲

If you look at the French regency era fashion you'll see where they get quite a bit of inspiration since Madama DE Lacroix is "French" the French were more bold with their styles. Brigerton is fantasy regency so they can have a little bit more fun. Remember this is the season filmed during Covid as well so it's just going to seem off anyway. We still have 4 episodes left and aim going g to enjoy every second. Just 12 more days...ugh.

I didn't mind the multiple story lines, as most served to set up future stories, and "real life" is like that - you have stuff going on, others have stuff going on. It bothered me that Lord Kilmartin's family was entirely in absentia for the wedding (a mother was mentioned). I was put off by the costuming. As the video describes, it went from a fantasy to a fever dream (all but Colin's chevron vest *ahem*). Similarly the dancing went altogether too modern. I appreciate that the film version of Bridgerton is a representation of the era and is not intended to be historically accurate, but I thought that the dancing just got silly, and the orchestra versions of pop songs became too obvious. It all felt a bit garish...

I was looking forward to hearing about Colin's adventures aboard, and Penelope telling him how she became a published columnist. The fact that they left out her father's solicitor, who helped her in the books, was annoying. It's like she just became a writer by magic, which kind of negates the wonder of her accomplishments. I also missed her and lady Danbury. I was looking forward to the scene when Pen suggested Lady Danbury was Whistledown.😅 So much was missing....

If you can save Bridgerton past season 3 please for the love of all things Bring back Chris Van Dusen!! And quit gender-swapping roles John Sterling's cousin is supposed to be a male, that ends up being another love interest for Francesca. I agree with others saying that season 3 was rushed and that Colin and Pen weren't given the attention Simon, Daphne, or Kate, and Anthony got. I am hoping that they learn from this and again Bring back Chris Van Dusen!! to save season 4 and at some point stop trying to modernize Bridgerton. There are already enough of those kinds of shows that feel they need to pander to what's going on in modern society. Don't mess up Bridgerton with the woke stupidity that has ruined other shows.

I didn't like the fact that Colin was upset with Pen on their wedding day and they didn't sleep together on their wedding night. No bride deserves that kind of memory of her wedding. They could have changed that scene. I agree with others that there were too many story plots going on. It should have been limited to Colin and Pen's relationship blossoming over time and instead Pen was defensive most of the time. Could have been better written for sure.
