It sounds like I am not the only one who gets those armchair critics in the comments. The ones who somehow think just by watching a video they know more about the situation than the person who is actually there doing the thing. I guess we are fortunate we have those guys to let us know that we have been doing things wrong successfully for the past 30 years. We haven’t done a very good job of arranging a visit. We should arrange one.

I was actually thinking about you yesterday. Yes, we need a visit. Yes, sometimes I don't know how I have gotten along for 30 years without some of the armchair help 😆

Hey Jeramy I have been binge watching your videos all awesome you hit on something very important about road building and site work people use different techniques and materials depending on there region here on Long Island were usually cut out the clay and topsoil and put back either sandy loom or clay or build up with bank run witch is sand gravel witch we mine right out of the ground here a cap off with clay sand mix too stabilize then either finish with crushed concrete or bluestone blend and roll it all depending on what material you have available and we do use fabric over sand or banking if clay isn’t available I think alot of times people don’t understand it’s all about what works or available sorry so long

Just came across your channel. I just purchased a Kubota KX033-4. I wanted a unit with no smog / DEF requirements. Been in construction all my life so building is what I love and do. In 1999 we moved up on the mountain and our little neighborhood has 2+ miles of gravel roads. Thanks for your great content, I'm sure I learn a few do-s and don't-s from watching your videos.

I'm Amazed at the amount of work you can do with the KX040. Most other folks would have a skid loader there on-site also. Keep up the great videos... I enjoy watching you work!

Nice work brother. I wouldn't dig out 3 feet of material and put back in for a parking spot. I personally think you do good work. Also when customer has a limited budget, that restricts what you can do. Thanks for the video.

Your comment about “mindless” work…, I like brush hog mowing with my Kubota tractor in the summer, and plowing snow with it in the winter…, its mindless work too. Iwatch a lot of this type of content here on RU-vid, and they all are soothing to watch…, oddly satisfying.., in a weird way. All of them are very good operators.., I do find that your operator skills, are smooth flowing, and very efficient. I particularly like your narration, and explanation(s) of the varied and different aspects of the work you do. All that being said, you should get a tilt bucket, you should get a bigger machine, you should use textile fabric always, you shouldn’t dig out base, and redistribute it, and then cover it with gravel…, hahaha…! Just “joking”.., I couldn’t resist. Nice work on the eroding water redirect, and the gravel “reclaiming”, and grading. That 6-way blade is worth its weight in gold. Great video as always, Thank you sir.

Hey Jeramy, I think that some of the people that watch videos do so so that they can criticize the creator, I watch a lot of videos and from time to time you hear the same thing from all creators, they should appreciate the time the creators put in to this and besides it's for entertainment purposes anyway. Man I am glad I got that off my chest. Thanks for another awesome video.

Clay in our area is such a problem, if I'd known as much as I do now, I may not have even bought our property. When it's done it will be awesome, thanks to your experience and expert work. It is difficult and costly to compensate for the clay's instability if you even breathe on it. When wet, it gets mushy to drive on even if it hasn't been otherwise disturbed. It's best to just rock the crap out of it without disturbing it if possible, using geo fabric on flat areas. It may seem like an extraordinary measure but mixing quicklime into it actually firms it up. They do this on a large scale when building parking lots and commercial buildings on clayey soil. On a small scale it has been an expensive and time consuming exercise but has helped the treated clay shed water and stay firm. So, in our area, if you don't absolutely have to disturb it, clay or clayey topsoil is best left alone, even with some grass on it. The grass will turn to sequestrated carbon (for those that care about such things) under the geo fabric and the parking pad will stay firm and perform its intended function. Thanks for teaching and informing as you go, Jeramy. Keep up the good work.

AMI has a tilt bucket with that allows the thumb to be used. Not sure they offer one for the smaller EX models. I have a tilt and no way the thumb is usable with it. We have the same issue with clay. If you can use it to build up and then keep water from pooling on it, it can be stable. Add water and it turn to slime.

I like your comments about knowing your terrain. Spot on. I have the same mushy clay here just outside of Portland. Proper drainage works so well and dig outside aren't really needed. As for a tilt bucket, I use a Mongo on my 040-4. Great for grading horrible for thumb work. I wish all the manufacturers would design tilt buckets with thumb updates. ie. longer thumb to match bucket and hardware. I ran the Roto Tilt series 3 on my 080-4 and had the same issue. Anyway I really enjoy your videos. Stay safe.

100% on the clay - if you can somehow compact it and then keep it dry it is fine. It's like a Gremlin - when water touches it it turns into a different animal. Quicklime helps but is expensive and a pain to buy, transport from Portland, unload, move around, mix, grade, and compact. The finished product is great - the mushy clay becomes a different animal through the hydration reaction. But is it worth it for a homeowner? I'm not sure...

I very much like the 6 way blade on the 40, the 40 is a little easier to transport. I have ran a new 057-5 and it does have a little more power and a little more stable, but it seems slow compared to the 40. They both are great machines. Hope this was helpful. Thanks for watching, and have a wonderful evening 😀
