I think for a 4 channel scope, you won’t find many options for this price. This also has the added benefits of automotive tests, filter options and the decoupled LAN connection. If you think you might upgrade in the future, the Pico might be the better option. It probably has wider support too. This is the dilemma!

@@MechanicMindset This is also my dilema. I can't afford the Pico automotive scope..so should I buy something like this and then later upgrade to the Pico automotive? Or is there a better upgrade path starting with the regular 2 channel picoscope. I'm brand new to automotive scopes.

So…because of the shared grounds, is there still the risk of “smoking” your scope or getting “back feed” issues (like the misfire you demonstrated on your other video)?

Nice review 👍 i still have a doubt though. I oscillate between this and Pico 2000 series (can't afford the automotive 4ch pico) Except the fact that Pico has possibles updates in the future, just between these two oscilloscopes, would you be kind and advise? Which one and why? Thanks

You wouldn’t have to spend much to try the Pico 2000. As for the 4 channels, the specs are similar. The Ditex has some automotive features in there but has external power supply and LAN connections. The Pico doesn’t have automotive software but the oscilloscope softwares are pretty much the same, so if you upgrade to automotive, you carry all the learning over too. And it’s USB based. Always going to be a tough choice at the budget end

@@MechanicMindset thanks, but in terms of the resolution, data aquiring, and overall usage and versatility, which one would you recommend? your personal prefference if you can tell. I am aware that most techs use Pico (4ch usually) I was thinking a dedicated automotive oscilloscope would be the way to go, but i see many use the 2000 series also. And saw a comparison of a guy from US with Autel, Hantek, Pico 20 and 44. Also my main concern is probably how often would i need the 4 channels (i do service motocycles not cars). Because the Ditex and Autel is on the affordable side of 4 ch osci. and now i'm stuck if i will use often or not all 4 ch.

I just joined your oscilloscope training course and as it stands I only have the Picoscope 2204A scope. I have been wanting to get the 4425A but it is rather expensive. The previous version without the BNC+ connectors is no longer available. I was thinking I don't need the feature where the scope automatically detects the probe attached. It's nice, but I can do that manually. Then I watched this review and that scope is less than $500. Is there any reason I should spend the extra money to get a Pico instead of this unit? It appears to be relatively easy to use the software and has the capability of any other scope regardless of cost for the purposes of automotive diagnostics.

This is a nice scope for the money. Software works nicely. As long as you have the LAN cable and don’t mind connecting the 12V power supply 👍

Great info on using oscilloscopes I have a Hantek 6074be, with it being a shared ground how would you test injectors using a back probe and a amp clamp at the same time, as I have seen on one of your videos the earth side turns in to live when the engine is running ?

im going to jump straight to the 4425 2 channel scope i think , would love the 4 channel but would i need 4 channels ? i no it would be good for monitoring all 4 injectors at once to see inconsistancys but do ireally need the 4 channel

I think you’d regret not getting the 4 channel. Even when we want timing in a twin cam engine, you might already want 3 there. You in the UK?

i have a snapon vantage legend which has a 2 channel scope. i really want 4 channel scope but cannot afford a pico do you know of anything that is about the same as the snapon but not so much money

There are tablet oscilloscopes out there. Check out MicSig and Hantek. They do 4 channel units

I've been looking for a laptop based scope Can't afford a Pico right now. I was looking into this scope and also there pressure transducer and also the autel mp408, which do you honestly think is better, pros and cons, please help.

Hello - Please do not buy the Autel MP408 absolutely terrible scope . It’s a Hantek unit with awful software slow interface and really bad connection issues even with the top line Autel machine the scope was hopeless . Personally the Ditex knocks it out the park . A lot of scope features you expect as standard on the Autel MP408 are just missing , it lasted 3 month then sold on . 👍

As I run with both in my tool kit I would say for the money the Pico is amazing , although only two channels . The Ditex is 4 channel and fantastic in field I would start with Pico

Hi Adrian, yes I saw that option. From memory, it’s was a fixed filter. They have high pass and low pass filter options too

Cheers! I believe there are Ditex distributers in the US. As for comparison, this is a quarter of the price, specs aren’t the same but it performs well 👍

@@MechanicMindset My 2204A is arriving tomorrow. Hantek cables, and piercing probes arrived today. Downloading Pico 7. Since I don't know Pico 6, why not learn where Pico is going, as opposed to where they have been.

@@dalebabbitt6185 Awesome, youll be happy with that tool. For sure! I think some people are comfortable with Pico 6 as they have used it for so long. There are a few features to still come over from 6 but it’s 99% there 👍

I don’t think so. You could get a Hantek to work if you could get HScope on there. I have the TC Max with the scope, we’ll have a look at the ThinkCar scope soon 👍

@@MechanicMindset After I posted the comment I saw that it's windows based. I actually did order the Master 2, and also the Thinkprog 2 for key/ecu cloning and programming. They will be delivered next week. I'm counting the days 🤣🤣🤣

@@MechanicMindset I finally pick up my Master 2 yesterday, just playing with stuff it's light years ahead of the Ancel X7 that I've been using. But the charging takes ages, the battery was drained during software update, it took over night to get to 60%. What is your experience with that?

True, not many have them anymore! You can get adapters. Ironically, they are USBx 🤣. Should still benefit from isolation though Id have thought

@@MechanicMindset they don't ?? LAN is still a very important port to have. What sort of speed does the LAN comms actually operate at ? ie, add a small gigabit travel router in it's place to run wireless ? I had contemplated this scope for ages, but their specs listed just seemed slow for likes of CAN, especially if using all 4 channels. Although actual spec detail was limited

@@blow0me No, the most modern laptops don’t. My laptop doesn’t. It’s no bother though, adapters are cheap. These specs are just fine for most automotive diagnostics, including CAN 👍

@@blow0me Maximum sampling rate: 4 independent 25 MSa/s ADCs. Excuse me, sir, but I would like to make a clarification. With CarScope PLUS, it doesn't matter how many channels are currently active. Each channel has independent ADC. So, 20MS/S are always achievable.

Lenovo ThinkPad T14, T16 Gen 1, Dell Latitude 3420, Latitude 3520, Latitude 5530, and many other new laptops have an RJ-45 Ethernet port. In other words, this port is available to almost all modern business laptops with high performance and durability.

Ah yeah, for sure. 20Million Samples a second. You can get CAN on a Hantek 1008C 2.4Million samples. Nearly 10 times ‘slower’.
