Whether it was prescription pills or not Elvis was still an addict. If you don’t know that a person can be addicted to prescription pills then you are not very smart. Sadly Elvis couldn’t help himself. They tried to help him but could not. 😢

@@desfletc Oh, you mean, he didn`t repeat all the nasty stuff others have been writing about Elvis without ever knowing him? I think enough people have been spreading personal and intimate things about Elvis. I`m not interested in personal "secrets", especially coming from a friend. I`ve been an Elvis fan for as long as I can remember, and I`ve always been interested in things he wouldn`t have had any problem sharing publically. Everything else is too intimate and doesn`t interest me at all. I can`t stand all his "one-week-lovers", who were prepared to share intimate things about Elvis with millions of people. Taking prescripted drugs is also intimate. Charlie said enough without crossing the line. Elvis didn`t go around telling people what kind of health issues he had, and what drugs he took. He also didn`t discuss his love life in front of a camera. Those who have done it on his behalf were traitors and Charlie wasn`t one of them.

Charlie was the most loyal, caring Elvis's friend, He was a musician and helped Elvis in lifting his spirits devastated by the loss of his mother during the journey to Germany, in improving his vocal technique and often harmonizing with him.In that speach he explained rightly Elvis's health condtions and why he needed prescrption drugs, not like some members of the MM who twisted the truth how it was convenient to themselves.Thank you Charlie, God bless you.

I felt like crying when Charlie said he felt Elvis' presence, and that fans could feel it too. I privately think I am going mad sometimes, when I am listening to Elvis sing, or look at his pictures or moving images. I sometimes feel like he is talking to me, or I am talking to him in my head, but my brain tells me it is just my imagination. My husband died last year after 43 happy years of marriage, but I don't hear his voice in my head. Almost feel guilty about that, but my husband knew how much I loved Elvis and he didn't mind me going on about the time I saw Elvis in concert. In fact he encouraged me to tell people - I think he was proud to be married to someone who had seen Elvis in person😊

I really like Charlie as a person , very funny , i know he was very close to Elvis was his right hand man on stage handing him drink and props. I love to hear so many stories , many questions came out that i have always wondered . I thought here goes i will get the answer , i always thought Charlie was one of the few you never heard bad from was really close and would have his friend Elvis's back . but i hear some things aren't quite true , which i'm sad over really, when he was telling about the pills , i never knew he had half thoes things wrong with him . I jst thought he as i heard had to have uppers & downers as he had Insomnia therefore needing pills to sleep and wake and had too many too often and began to rely on them. I knew they would only have been prescribed ,charlie said he was on pills for Glaucoma, high blood pressure, Pain killers for a Twisted Colon, his heart too which i hear was inherited and believe it or noe Hepatitus which his mother had !!! . Damn i never knew he was that sick he had to have thoes pills for his condition. I hope Charlie isn't wrong i do rely on these guys that were his true friends to fill the blanks , Yes i heard too that Charie told the secret he was told on another video that he was told hush hush Elvis had bone cancer not many people knew that , but i don't know, all i know is i feel so sick my heart is ripped that he was so ill and died so flamin early , most beautiful , selfless lived for others spent his life giving til it exhausted him but he did it RIP Elvis you are together again with mom & Daddy xx !!

@Koletti Pireaus I know! That's another lie he told, when he said that Elvis needed all those pills for medical reasons. He was already hooked on amphetamines in the army and took them all his life afterward, to stay "up" and to control his weight. Why lie about it? We love Elvis anyway.

Gassbagger YES ELVIS DID HAVE ALL THOSE things wrong with him. There’s a new book out that tells about Elvis health issues. It’s called DESTINED TO DIE YOUNG. It’s written by a woman that got his medical info and his mom and her family. You should read it if you think Elvis didn’t have those things wrong with him. The book explains the stuff. Only god and elvis know the truth. The only truth I know is that the life elvis had I would never wish that for myself for all the millions in the world. A money machine and worked to death with only loneliness and people who scavenged off him. The rate he worked off course his health was shit. People laughed at his weight at the end and parodied him. The guy was depressed give him a break. I don't think anyone could possibly get a HINT of the life he had. Can't even take a shit at the end of his life without the hold world knowing. Nobody ever lived his life and nobody ever will. He is a lesson to us all. Fame and fortune ain't worth it. Only love is

I find it ironic and a little more than curious that legions of folks walk around today in 2022, with this goofy, sleepy idea that at the very end, He practically slept in that jumpsuit, and his life was so insular, he was unaware of the era in which he was living. At that point, sadly the eleventh hour, I doubt that Elvis could care less about the jumpsuits, dying his hair pitch black, etc. I would surmise he was ready for a change there toward the end. It’s sad that the general public, even the ones lampooning him, had no earthly idea of the man’s depth, intellect, spiritual prowess, and above all, his authenticity. I’m not talking about walking up to the mic stand, cooly hitting his stance and tearing into ‘See See Rider,’. I’m talking about those in depth interviews….his humanity

. What should they have done for their friend, not filled him with unnecessary dumb down drugs and buz up drugs. charlie is pulling the wool on this one. A real doctor should have untwisted that colon, treated the blood preasure , took care of the glaucoma and gotten him to a desert island for real detox and health food galore. he would have thanked them. Elvis intimidated them all and was their meal ticket.

Elvis always said that people didn't know the man under the beauty and name. To know his message, hurts and so much more. Would he be this popular if he didn't look the way hee did.

Thank you for posting this!!!!. I’ve been devastated for years seein Elvis’ last performance where he changed the words on “Are you lonesome tonight”. Word was he was too high to remember the words. I had hoped he was having fun . This made me believe he was having fun. Charlie did an amazing job

Debra. Elvis changed the the Words all the time to that song. Going back to at least 1971. He did it to get laughs from the audience. He was Not high in the Elvis In Concert from 1977!

Elvis would never want us to see him become a cabbage that’s probably why. I don’t see why Charlie would lie, see people want to believe the drug addict story. My grandfather had cancer of the colon, had to have a colostomy bag, my dad said he died of shame if nothing else. My dad is also on blood pressure tablets and was told by the doctor that patients on them, never come off them because of how hard it is to stabilise the blood pressure.

So there is another story about the laughing version of Are You Lonesome Tonight and it's that Elvis got tickled at a man in the audience that was swaying to the music and took off his his toupee and dancing with it after Elvis said the bald line. I guess you gotta go with Charlie's version since he was there. So glad I got to meet Charlie at Memories Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN in 2002. RIP Charlie.
