BA should create a medium haul concept for Larnaca, alongside Tel Aviv, Amman and Cairo. All these destinations are often over 5 hours duration on the return leg to London Heathrow and cannot be considered short haul in the same way as Zurich or Lyon. Indeed historically Cyprus' civil aviation developed precisely because it was part of the Middle East. Cyprus Airways was founded by British European Airways as 'the British airline in the Middle East'.

Wow I never knew about the last part. In terms of medium haul the only problem BA faces is that the aircraft’s they use for these destinations (321N) are fully capable of flying there and fill the seats. The 788 doesn’t necessarily make sense as more crew is needed. The only reason I think service is nonexistent on those medium haul flights is the aircraft lacks an oven so i do hope this changes soon
