I've had three pretty severe episodes within 6 months period. prescribed antibiotics IE Metro, Amoxclav Cipro etc which caused as much or probably more suffering than the disease itself. Metronidazole made me feel I got hit in the head several times with a two by four. terrible headaches, trouble walking, dizziness, lost memory etc and with the Amoxclav really bad depression, agitation, depersonalization etc the fear of having to be on a regimen of antibiotics again, is a big reason why I'm deciding for surgery as the "cure" is worse than the disease imo.

I have diverticulitis. Diverticulosis. I call my doctor he sent a script for me to pick up and I picked it up and then I ended up having to go to the ER and then they found out why my stool was black it was infection instead of blood thank God. And I got to the point that I could not eat I lost 5 lb and it wasn't water but 5 lb of weight and 4 and 1/2 days. I would love to have a fantastic doctor surgeon that could actually fix diverticulitis and diverticulitis so hit would never bother me again. 🙏

This condition is caused by gut dysbiosis (bad bacteria overtaking your colon and infecting the diverticula). Get some kefir made preferably from grass fed cows with billions of probiotics, such as Maple Hill kefir (I get mine from Publix). And get a chewable acidophilis probiotic supplement and another one I use is by Mason that includes acidophilus and bifidus with a prebiotic (food for the cultures). Also take 3 or 4 teaspoons of ORGANIC extra virgin olive oil per day (I take morning, noon and night). It destroys h. pylori and other bad bacteria in the gut without destroying the good ones like antibiotics do. This (the olive oil) needs to be done for about 2-4 weeks at least. I'd keep doing the probiotics indefinately. Maybe taper off to just 1 capsule and 1 serving of kefir per day after you are fully healed. Since I started doing the things listed above, my diverticulitus symptoms stopped completely. I got a huge, noticeable improvement after the very first day of drinking the kefir. I drink about 1/4th a cup in the morning and 1/2 cup at night before bed. Try it. It worked wonders for me!! I couldn't even drink water without a flare up before I started this regimen. My flare up went on for 6 weeks with no signs of stopping until I got the kefir, probiotics and organic extra virgin olive oil. After 2 weeks of doing that, I was and am eating whatever I want again. I ate Bojangles fried chicken and biscuits on Saturday and Sunday I had a ribeye, steamed broccoli and steak fries...; )

Is there any study as to treatment regimens that strengthen the endothelial lining? Obviously this in turn would affect the vascular system benefitting that system as well..collagen?

14:00 Is reducing meat intake really a good idea? Doesn't seem like it. Seems you would want to have the people eating the least amount of food and getting the most energy. So you would recommend that they avoid plants and fruits and use a 100% ruminant meat diet which will allow their digestive system to not only avoid all the carbs, but also avoid any extra work caused by pushing non-digestible material through it. The purpose behind the fiber recommendations is to have a stool that is not getting blocked. Meat only accomplishes this without fiber and is energy rich, meaning there is no need for adding other complications to the digestive process. Fats provide 9 calories per gram, rather than 4 calories per gram of carb, so the amount of food digested is reduced on meat only because it by processing the carbs through an animal to further concentrate the carbon content of the food and remove the plant fiber. Obviously, I am not a doctor, but I observe that the pockets that form appear to be like the skin tags that form on the skin on diabetics. You will see these around their face, neck, elsewhere. We know that the vegetables and fruits today are not what was available even a short while ago and have been bred to be high in carbs, but low in nutrition and therefore this concept of reducing meat (which means eating more of plants and vegetables in order to obtain enough energy to function) doesn't make a lot of sense and since diabetes only occurs when we consume too much sugar, it makes sense to avoid the sugar and the bacteria in the gut that come with it and thereby also stop the diabetes related problems. Feel free to explain better why my logic doesn't work in the real world and provide examples.

19:20 This guy explains it well. "I generally just recommend to keep things moving". But there is a hint in his description of what patients complain about that reminds me of allergy symptoms. He says people tell him, I was doing fine until I ate this. And when that happens, I can tell you all that I ate a brazil nut as a kid and went into anaphylactic shock. My windpipe closed almost completely and only by staying very calm was I able to give my body enough time to deal with the problem. It's a clue in that same direction. The body can have extreme reactions to plant material. Most plants are not edible. Only certain plants have been engineered through breeding to make them edible today. So, to recommend to people that plants are good and to avoid meat, which, with only one exception (a tick bite), is a failure to understand the real situation. You guys, in recommending plant and fruit diets, are up against a human body that doesn't want this at all in terms of energy consumption and plant life that wants to kill you so you for fertilizer for it's seeds. 19:31 magnesium supplement - this is a good idea. I am trying to help somebody with this problem that insists on eating cheese and veggies, etc. I know that magnesium works for people that are addicted to cheeses. For example, a couple spoons of Nigari (a MgCl product from the ocean) in a little bit of water tastes terrible, but you can wash it down with a little bit more water or just eat the cheese afterwards and it will make sure the stool passes right on through. Lots of people are magnesium deficient. Perhaps it's not in the soil where the plants grow anymore. I understand we have destroyed our soils by using pesticides and monocropping them when we should just let the plants grow and let the animals eat the plants and insects. By killing the soil, worms, insects, etc that are sharing our gardens, we end up destroying the nutritional value of the foods there. Nobody wants worms in their apple, but they should be feeding the apple to the pigs and eating the pig instead. Logic folks. What do you do when you wage war on a country? You destroy their cattle just like was done in Europe and the United States when Europe invaded. Need to stop the wars and get the animals growing again and dump the plant-based eating ideas that are a lie so deep that even these doctors can't figure it out for themselves anymore...

Please note that a large number of your audience would be doctors from regions where English is not the first language. I hope the choice of speakers ( surgical management in the present discussion) would take that into consideration.

Just had a colonoscopy, and the person that done it said i had Diverticulosis, and they had to change scopes because of a Fixed Sigmoid Diverticulosis, she said this is quite common and nothing to worry about, the colonoscopy was completed fully by the way, right to the terminal ileum and rest of examination was normal, i am 60 years old, so can someone tell me what a Fixed Sigmoid Diverticulosis actually is or means ? thx

I really think their's a breakdown of the enzymes in process before the fecal matter even get to the colon, so not properly digested food is forced along all the while breakdowns of endothelial lining for years

This is my conclusion, the preamble to diverticulitis occurs over anything from five to ten years of this ridiculous western diet. My greatest regret is not becoming a vegan when I was in my twenties.

The concluding remark ‘a success story or failure’ depends upon whether the horror of a temp stoma offset the trouble of all the sufferings from repeated hospitalization, antibiotics, radiation exposure etc not to mention the psychological insult over two months period preceding second surgery.

Colonoscopies didn't show anything, at least that is my case. Why bother, I have had two serious attacks and colonoscopies came back good. A CT scan just showed a inflammation, I was told I only had diverticulosis. I have an attack every year. So painful, can't sleep, dizzy and not being able to go the washroom. It is a terrible disease to live with. I think mine is triggered by stress. I keep a journal and its the only thing that makes sense. I don't think food triggers it.

Have the sigmoid colon removed and do a resection. I did and I am cured. Best thing I ever did. Do not wait till it's emergency. I did and was bagged for 6 months. Just do it when healthy.

Antibiotics I believe causes CDIFF then diverticulitis, stress too. If we the patients, research side effects of ciprofloxacin and metronidazole we should use caution

@@shannonholmes5130 The first attack I was on those two and side affects were worse than the attack. I've switched to amoxicillin and clavulin. Second attack last year was less painful but had a micro perforation. Now I'm up for surgery. I'm pretty much always in a little bit of pain but I've stayed off antibiotics.
