Diverticula are small, bulging pouches that can form in the lining of your digestive system. They are found most often in the lower part of the large intestine (colon). Diverticula are common, especially after age 40, and seldom cause problems.
The presence of diverticula is known as diverticulosis. When one or more of the pouches become inflamed, and in some cases infected, that condition is known as diverticulitis. Diverticulitis can cause severe abdominal pain, fever, nausea and a marked change in your bowel habits.

Thank you doc sa paliwanag. I was diagnosed with diverticulitis or colitis but my pain was in the upper right not on the lower left. My doctor said 1 more attack he will open me up. I’m hoping you could enlighten me a bit more with this condition. Thank you very much. Appreciate your insight.

I was admitted 3 weeks ago due to severe Abdomen pain, vomiting and Diarrhea doctor request for XRAY and CT Scan triple contrast and wala po sila nakita, nagpa Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy din po ako and may mga nakitang Diverticulitis. Next Step naman daw is to go to Small intestine specialist para daw makita if meron any probs sa Small intestine ko. I hope and pray na sana walang problema and if any sana madaan sa gamutan. Thank you Doc for this Very Informative video. Ang laking tulong po neto samin na naka experience neto. Sana po madiscuss nyo rin Doc about sa small intestine. Thank you doctor for additional information about this disease. I was diagnosed having diverticulosis at 40 years old. Regular doctors don't explain like you do. Now i am seeing a gastro doctor , who explains more better. Colonocopy is required for me to have one every 5 or 3 years to check for colon cancer. I am taking metamucil everyday, drink a lot of water, yogurt as my probiotic, and avoid eating with seeds. So far so good, i don't have flare-up. Thanks God. 🙏 🙏 🙏

I'm glad that you brought up this topic as not everyone is aware of this disease. Last 2021 I had an acute diverticulitis twice that I was I hospitalized and was treated with IV antibiotics. I had fever and terrible abdominal pain. I'm just lucky that there were no perforations and doesn't need surgery. I'm now careful with my diet, no red meat, no seeds and nuts, I even avoided eating rice since they are like seeds and it's triggering my diverticulitis. High fiber diet & probiotic really helps to avoid flare ups.

I ❤ GSK! Thank you Doc Gary Sy for this topic and your detailed explanation. I was diagnosed last year of Diverticulitis and that was exactly how I felt. Though my doctor explained to me briefly how I got it, now I have more understanding of this disease. My doctor prescribed me of antibiotics for two weeks and thankfully it was healed. I'm taking more fibers now and avoiding nuts and seeds. Thanks again Doctor Sy and stay safe!

Thankyou Doc, sobrang dami ko po natutunan sa video nyo na ito, first time ko napanood dahil sa nararanasan Kong sakit sa tagiliran tuwing nabubusog, at palagi din ako constipated, nakapag pa urinalysis narin ako at normal naman, Kaya napapa isip ako kung ano ba talaga ito, hanggang sa napanood ko yung video nyo very related po talaga. I had surgery. It started with a hysterectomy and ended up with a diverticulosis surgery. I had 3 surgeries in less than one year because I had wear a colostomy. Best ever presentation.
