I’ve been in the pond hobby for close to thirty years. This was by far the best video on dividing water lilies. You gave us many options. Thank you! 🎏

Excellent instructional video - lots of information, clearly explained, with reasons why and several options. I have a lily that has burst the pond plant basket after just 3 years and was despairing at how poor some of the videos were on RU-vid. Yours was spot-on, and I now realise I can use some old washing up bowls, and pea gravel. Here in the Midlands (UK), the leaves are just beginning to unfurl, so hopefully good timing!

Thanks you taught me a lot. I have a koi fish pond in Indiana. Never use a heater either fish. Are just fine in March or April as the ice melts along with ⛄️

What an excellent tutorial, thank you! Question: I couldn’t tell for sure if you allowed the growing end to be buried in the planting medium or if it was left just uncovered. I’ll research this further but if you get this, I certainly will know I have an expert opinion. I’ll be dividing ours (zone 6B KY) when they’ll not likely have growing shoots/leaves, and they’re a big mess-so wish me luck! Thanks again-Stephanie

Using large rocks instead of pea gravel is a great idea. Common causes of preventable fish loss are choking and impaction, from either attempting to, or consuming gravel.

here's what I do with them: I cut them up with a saw, then take one I'm gonna keep, tie it with wire to a brick, then throw that back into the pond. No container needed. I then sell the rest of them.

I just repotted my lilies today, I just hope that I haven't done any permanent damage: I've never repotted them before. From what I've researched they are very tough plants, and I did as good a job as I could as instructed, but I'm still worried, I felt the same way when I divided my amaryllis flowers.

I hear if you plant them facing wall of tub, about two inches away from tub wall, then it depends it's energy in making more flowers rather than making tuber. So if you want to make long tuber, plant it away from wall, and if you want more flowers then plant it facing the tub wall. And then repot about at 3 months. Your inputs please

why its necessary to plant in to a small pot. cant i plant it directly in to a concrete pond after filling some soil............pls help i dont want to use two pots
