Diving Egypt / Marsa Alam was filmed with the GoPro HERO 8 Black in 4k 60fps. Scuba Diving in Egypt is a great experience and the underwater world of the Red Sea has really a lot to offer. The footage of this GoPro 8 underwater video is post-processed and no red filter was used. Diving with the GoPro 9 or 8 is a good choice to get awesome underwater footage with a small budget but you have to take the challenge of editing...

Hi there 🙂 I hope you did enjoy my first GoPro 8 diving video 😊 Scuba diving in Egypt/Marsa Alam was really a great experience and I loved to film with the new GoPro HERO 8 Black. The quality in 4k 60fps is absolutely brilliant and sometimes I'm really stoked about my own footage. My next GoPro 8 underwater video will be a snorkel video with even more brilliant footage. Hi, der "Manta" war ein Adlerrochen. Ein ganzes Stück kleiner wie ein Manta aber in dieser Nähe nicht unbedingt weniger beeindruckend 🙂 Das war so ein Moment für den man wieder wirklich weiß warum man tauchen geht 😍 Der hatte uns 4-5 mal langsam umkreist...unglaublich war das 🙂 Mit den Schildkröten lege ich noch nach... 😉 Danke für dein Comment 🤘

Beautiful! Your underwater video is absolutely amazing with great editing. Can't say enough! Scary was what looked like a moray eel and tiger sharks. Going through the cave and the turtles are terrific. Thanks for sharing and have a great day 😀👍

Amazing footage but those oceanic white tips are scary AF! I was just searching for whether GoPro Hero8 is worth it for diving to replace my aging no name action cam but I ended up subscribing to your channel and the Reddit community. This video also brought back some great memories of diving Abu Dabbab of diving last year, I actually recognized some of the locations :)

Das ist der große Vorteil in der Nachbearbeitung, wenn du mit der GoPro in 4k 60fps aufnimmst 😊 Ich arbeite ganz klar hier und da mit Bildausschnitten. Das mache ich aber wirklich nicht oft und nur da wo es unbedingt sein muss da die Bildqualität(4k) leidet. Die Turtle ist aber aber in voller Auflösung zu sehen, also ja ich war so nah dran 🙂

Hi and thanks a lot 😊 I used the GoPro 8 in combination with a single video light. You can achieve very good results with a GoPro underwater but you have to film in Protune mode (flat profile) and you must edit (color-grading) the footage. Do you go for snorkeling or scuba diving in the Maldives?

Great footage buddy! All my videos were made with gopro 4. Editing is very challenging... sometimes a nightmare! I am new filming and editing. I watch a lot of video tutorials on YB trying to get it right! Still have a long way... Recently I bought gopro 7 lets see what I can get from it on future!

Hi, you're welcome 😊 I don't use any filters for filming underwater with a GoPro, and no you don't need it too. The best way is to edit the footage afterwards. I use a semi-professional video-software for this. A red-filter can be helpful if you won't edit the footage...

Hi Katt, I film with the Protune-mode of the GoPro (flat profile) and I edit almost everything in post production. Like color-grading, using keyframes, adjusting contrast and brightness. Is it that what you meaning? Hard work but it's worth it 😊 Had a look for your channel, great job! So many videos...if you had recommend only one (for me)...which one should I watch?

Hi Patrick und Danke dir! Erstmal: Du kannst mich ruhig duzen 😁 Da komme ich mir nicht so alt vor und ansonsten bin auch recht locker drauf 😉 Ich verwende keinerlei Filter. Nur Gehäuse und Leuchte. Die Aufnahmen sind mit angepassten Einstelllungen aufgenommen und anschließend mit entsprechender Software nachbearbeitet worden. So holt man das Maximale aus der GoPro raus. That's beautiful footage you got, mate. I was deciding GoPro 8 or the Olympus TG6 for their simplicity. I'll prob going with GoPro8 for its superb stability. But i'm bad at post-editing. If I'm going to use the red filter, do I put it on regardless of the depth?

Hi and thanks a lot 😊 The GoPro is made for video. It all depends on your needs. If you like to shoot video, go for the GoPro 8. The TG6 is made for photos and does a better job in that. I wouldn't use a red filter anyway but if you won't edit the footage so use it under a minimum depth of 5 meters, otherwise the footage is too red. Play with it and have a look for the results.

Yeah, that’s what i initially thought too. But I’ve seen reviews shared on TG6, where the white balance can be manually adjusted at different depth and can view the screen during the shoot.

Thank you! For scuba diving with the GoPro I use a 2-hand tray. My light is no longer commercially available. Make sure that you buy a underwater video light (beam >100°) that has at least 2000lm (better more). The tray should be graspable with both hands and stable.

Tolles Video und guter Schnitt. Die meisten Tauchplätze kennen wir vom letzten Jahr und im Juni soll es wieder für 4 Wochen dorthin gehen, sieht nun allerdings schlecht aus. Den Guide kennen wir noch von Extra Divers Brayka Bay. Hast du einen Rotfilter benutzt? Welche Einstellungen hast du gewählt?

Hallo Peter und vielen Dank! Ich benutze keinen Rotfilter für die GoPro 8 Unterwasser. Ich filme im Protune-Mode und bearbeite anschließend die Farben im Videoschnitt. Meine Einstellungen für die GoPro 8 findest du in dem zuvor hochgeladenen Vergleichsvideo. Im letzten Drittel des Videos nenne ich alle Einstellungen. Ja, schade aber wohl auch nicht vermeidbar. Denke wir werden dieses Jahr auf Ägypten bzw. auf Urlaub und tauchen verzichten. Man kann nur nach vorne schauen und sich auf bessere Zeiten freuen...

I don't use a filter because I post-process the footage afterwards. More recordings are so usable. A filter not only "brings" color, it also absorbs light. This usually means less quality in the picture. Hope that helps. Have fun in Marsa Alam! Just a great place for scuba diving and snorkeling 👌

Hi and thank you! It could be easier to get the colors right, but you will loose quality overall. A red filter sucks useful light, that's a big problem with a small sensor of a GoPro. You can achieve good results with a red filter on a GoPro underwater but you will always loose image quality.

@@DiveDiscover ah yeah, I've heard especially at depth where it's darker, the filter cuts even more light. I thought that at deeper depths you lose Red color so without a filter would you not be able to bring back the true colours even with post processing? Thanks!

Thank you 🙏😊 I don't use filters but I use a single videolight 😉 It's not about a specific software, it's about to learn how to use it. I use Magix, but you can also use Adobe Premiere, DaVinciResolve (Freeware) or Final Cut Pro. Many programs can do this. Right settings for the GoPro + a good software = best results. Hello Sebastiano! If you dive in Egypt the depth limit is 30m. The most shots in the video were made between 12 and 25m. Best regards and have a nice day 🙂

Hi Tapas, hard to say. The GoPro 8 is my number one for underwater footage but for vlogging or blogging I would use a very good mobile phone...

Awesome tips and footage. Which angle setting were you on? Wide/normal/narrow?

Hi and thank you! I did shoot in wide, but I would use linear now. At this time linear wasn't available in 4k 60fps. GoPro released an update this year which let you film in 4k 60fps and linear angle.

@@DiveDiscover Ahhh thank you for the info. I guess linear fov will be cropping in the sensor and quality will be lost?

@@darrenloke24 No problem. Yes for sure a slightly cropping but no loss in quality. It's so much better in linear...no fisheye effect and you don't have to be that close to a subject.

Hi, I use Magix Pro X for my GoPro underwater videos. It is important that the software has the appropriate options. There are many programs that can do this. DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere - just to name a few.
