A little recap of our recent dive trip to the Maldives... dive cinematics at 2:05 (Velifushi boat dive), 4:25 (Ellaidhoo boat dive) and 8:05 (Ellaidhoo house reef).
We had such an amazing time at both Velifushi and Ellaidhoo... amazing reefs, sharks and people. We will be back!

thank you! appreciate the kind words. the dive site with eagle rays + nurse sharks together is Alimatha Jetty in Vaavu, its a really magic place :)

loved your video we went to another island called veligandu. didnt get to dive but hopefully next time we will after seeing your video. we did a lot of snorkeling. how many feet deep were you guys minimum to max?

Thank you! I definitely have heard of veligandu but have never stayed or checked out the house reef. Diving is fantastic - do it! We usually don’t go past 100 feet / 30 meter since it gets dark and most of the animals are around 40 - 80 feet. Cheers!

Thank you!! You will have a great time. So far I’ve like Elaidhoo the best for land based diving, though liveaboards are a great option and are a relatively inexpensive compared to land based. You can’t really go wrong in Ari Atoll

Great video, you nailed the white balance - which camera did you shoot with & did you have to correct the WB in post edit? I'm heading there in March 2022 (was supposed to go March 2020) - shooting a Sony A7R IV - can't wait

Thank you! I was shooting with an Eos R and mostly WBing each scene / depth to get the most out of color science. I had to shoot Sonys and they have come a long way in UW white balance. When I was shooting a7s2 I would mostly shoot in log, overexpose and and correct in post. Red filter made a big difference too (unless shooting with 5600K lights). I’m pretty sure you can get away without a red filter with Sony’s updated color science but it slog can give a lot of flexibility in post. Best of luck and many bubbles

I’m not sure what the prices are today but Edlaidoo is generally a good dive / value option vs. many of the land based resorts. I think there was an option for unlimited dives on the house reef and a $100 - $200 fee for guided boat dives (2-3 tanks depending on where). I don’t know about rental gear costs - but I know it can get expensive

They should follow the template of the Bahamas and other nations that truly see sharks as worth much more in tourism dollars and not just the small amount they are worth on an auction block.

Completely agree! I think that a mechanism to help the fisherman benefit from the tourism industry would be helpful as well

Thank you!! The gear is always changing but its always DJI for drones, nauticam for housings and 16-35 / 11 - 24 f4 behind a dome. Brand has historically been Canon or Sony underwater. Thinking about the WACP as the next addition to set up! Let me know if you'd like to see a video on the details! cheers!

Mostly canon cameras, EOS R and C70 and the canon 16-35 f2.8, 20mm f1.4 sigma and mavic 2; always changing though ;)

unfortunately don't know much about sky diving but for scuba diving certification it should be $400 - $700 depending on where you go for it. definitely not the cheapest place to learn - in my experience SE asia tends to be lowest priced for certifications
