Wanted to check out other Larian games after looking some Baldur's Gate 3 let's plays. Thank you for the tutorial / walkthrough on character creation, very in-depth
The game's a blast. Having so much fun with it. Not to mention, you have to actually THINK when you play, not all solutions are handed to you on plate or like Kill them all (Optional: Do not kill them all) quest log =)
i've beat BG3 and now want to check out this game. since i've been following Mort now for a few years (when i first started watching him he had less than 20k subscribers) i was aware he did guide videos to this game as he's mentioned it quite a bit through the years. i just gotta say DAMN DUDE you sound SO young in this video it keeps lowkey making me giggle a bit.. you also say "um" and "uh" a lot hahaha. i'm not being disrespectful, i just think it's amazing to see how far you have come! you are inspirational! anyway, back to the video for me. i'm only 4 minutes into it now, i just had to stop and type this after listening to the first 4 minutes. i hope i enjoy this game as much as i did BG3!
Is so awesome that You got more than 1k with this video and now You have videos with more than one million dude!! It's really inspiring to try to become a gaming content create during these semester wairing to enter in a masters
Geez, all you critics. How about you leave the man alone, thank him for his effort to help fellow gamers, and make your own damn video if you think you can do better. Yeeesh.
This is the best, most helpful video I've seen yet. I'm about to embark on a joined adventure with three old friends in this game, and I am going to link your video to all of them - and then we'll base our start-out builds on this. Thank you!
@@MortismalGaming all part of the learning process. It shows in your viewership. No growth or learning would be stagnant content. You're going onwards and upwards. Well done 👍🏻
Pretty good. Just a few things I noticed, and doesnt seem like anybody else has mentioned. Fane is an eternal, which is important to story. You need lvl 5 in skills to learn the best abilities. There is a quest in the game that allows you to change one of your starting tags, but they are otherwise set
I'm currently just getting into this game. I grew up on addicted to games such as EverQuest2, World of Warcraft (vanilla & BC), Dragon Age, Diablo & so on. I'm hoping I'm able to create a Dwarf Hunter who can use different animals as companions like in WoW. Not sure if its yet possible, still trying to learn this game. I see it's much more complex then the most big named RPGs. Hoping I end up loving this game. Thanks for the info vids! I'm sure I will be watching many more that you have made.
Fantastic overview of character creations, thanks 🙏🏽 I loved BG3, & am getting into DnD more. DOS2 feels perfect for my goals. I’ll check out the combat + talent vids as well. Cheers!
Watching this video and knowing that was the first that achieved more than 1k is really inspiring me to try to become one during the currents gap-semester waiting to enter my masters. Oh hell yeah bro thanks and lot and keep it up man
I love that you can totally build your characters the way you want. I picked Sebille as my character and I went with a lone wolf team. I went with archer, because I like ranged. I followed a guide that said, don't spend any points until you reach level 4 in the game. then you can really create a good starting build. so my thinking was that I was gonna be a archer summoner hybrid. In World of warcraft I liked playing hunter, so that was the fantasy I was going for, but instead of an animal companion, I would have a big hulking demon thing. So at level 4, if you go lone wolf, you can crank up the summoner stats to 10 right away, giving you a champion incarnate to summon and after that, pumping stuff into huntsman. but I picked up a few things when playing that also made me put points into other trees, like scoundrel for that ability you get for eating that severed head as Sebille (elves are flesh eaters). for my lone wolf partner I picked Lohse because that is what he did in the guide/play through, but you can pick pretty much anyone you like, since you made all of them archers to farm knockdown arrows except the red prince who is a wayfarer (important for fast leveling to level 4, because pet pal ability). so you can go with pretty much anyone you want. I think for my second playthrough I'll pick a custom undead human and go with fane as my parner, so we are both undead. I think that will be cool. so yeah, start out as a blank slate, with no points used on skills or attributes or anything, save all up for level 4. you don't really need them early game, trust me. Oh and get all the party members you want to have before you level to level 2, so they too have more points to spend at level 4. so the route I went with picking up my companions was, I got red prince first and picked wayfarer, then fane and picked archer, took all his gear excpt his cloths because it affects a quest later on if you leave him there naked., then I got lohse and made her and archer and stripped her of everything, then beast and did the same to him and last I got Ifan and did the same to him. the reason you want to pick up Ifan last is because you level to level 2 when you pick him up, unless you run away and let the woman die, but I don't recommend that. you use red prince all the way to level 4, after that, you strip him of everything and pick the partner you want to have, assuming you are going lone wolf that is. If not, pick the characters you want. for my 4 man team I went with custom human, Sebille, beast and red prince.
It's too bad that west seems to be afraid of youth in games, and east seems to be afraid to put the elderly in as much. Both have their biases, but only because people in general like to be trendy. Thinking one way is right and the other wrong is a short-sighted view at best. Luckily these things have changed before, and will change again. Personally I can't wait for both sides to drop all of this bullshit, so people like me can enjoy having more freedom to play how _we_ want, _not_ how someone else forces us to play.
Would you recommend picking a named character for your first play through, or make a custom one? I feel like it would give me more freedom with a custom character but I don't want to miss out on any story or immersion
The named ones all have their own story but if you choose them as party members you can still go through them. You can't do all of them in one playthrough regardless, but you can still see like 3-4 of them per playthrough.
Might be a bit late for you, but if other people face that decision: Go for the pre-made character. You pretty much all the racial options, origin characters have generally better starting skills, you get the main beats of their story and whichever way you go, you can 100% determine the build to use. In other words, the "more" in "more freedom", is really just in the very margins.
@@DrZaius3141 My concern is if I pick a origin character I won't experience the voice acting, it's unique dialogues and so on. If my priority is to know their history, this concern really matters?
I've been wanting to play this. I've heard it's basically a digital Dungeons and Dragons. How true is that? edit* Literally 20 seconds into the video you answered the question.
I know this is old, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. When you play custom characters is it possible to choose a race that isn't undead? Like a standard custom dwarf, human etc?
Mortismal Gaming Can we change IFAN's character build into a Mage type, for example? Or is it impossible to switch classes with those pre-built Origin characters? Anyone know? Didn't get a clear answer to this in the video.
+Marco Neves you can change it, and what's more those are only starting abilities for those classes, you can still get all the different ones and mix and match them as you play, they don't tie you down to one class in any other way than rewarding sticking to attribute bonuses etc.
Torturer is straight up op you CC without worrying about armor basically Undead Geomancer with torturer will poison thus CC enemies while healing himself
idk why but i don’t really like up down games but this game sounds cool i wish it had full camera control can i atleast zoom in i don’t like when characters are far
Quick question, is the game easy to get into for someone who's never really played isometric RPGs? I've only played the OG Diablo 1, but other than that no Baldur's, no Neverwinter, nothing.
your party can have up to 4 people including your main its up to you wich of the characters you want to recruit but you can only recruit 3 others into your party at max (without mods from the steam workshop)
@@JayckobHernandez if you play multiplayer everyone can make theyr unique character however in solo you can only create your main and recruit the others however you can choose what class they should be when you recruit them cause theyll ask you what role they should take in your team and you can skill them yourself when they level up and i think you can adjust theyr apereance when you have access to a magic mirror however you can not create party members from scratch only recruit them as far as i know
