This is a dangerous bill. If we can't trust the government with the emergencies act, why would we trust them with this bill? Maybe parents need to connect with their kids and actually monitor what's happening in their lives. The solution is not the government parenting, people's children and their internet habits. A slippery slope.

I also find it rich that PP criticizes what hate is when the conservative party has always attracted bigots and those who want to discriminate against their fellow Canadians.

There's absolutely zero reason for anyone under 15 to have a smart phone, parents need to grow a spine and moderate these for their children, rather than the government stepping in with legislation.

Absolutely, I have older grown kids so doesn’t apply, but if I did have teenagers not sure I’d have smartphones either for them, if I did, he’ll, they’d be monitored very closely.

When it comes to housing inflation immigation and Doctor's shortages. . We can't seen to get it together. .With all parties.. But when it time to send billions of dollars . to countries like Israel Ukraine and Tawain. All three parties all agree. No arguments . No delays. Who really controls our political system.
Child safety, sure. But parenting goes a long way, can't delegate everything to the government. Hate speech, nah you don't get to decide what is hateful or not, since it often depends on interpretation and intent should be much more important.

If parents let their kids have phones, it's the parents' responsibility to teach the kids being responsible cell phone user. Parents are responsible for the childrens teaching, not the government.
If parents want to protect their kids from harm then be more aware of how your children are spending their time online. Limit online time while they are under your household and do what it takes. If this is as big of an issue as the Liberals are making it out to be then the parents need to take better measures and precautions, not rely on the government. That will only hand over power that we will never get back.

Isn't that hate speech, calling someone a dork,we already have a bill for kids safety,their is a content that says, someone can put another person in jail, without knowing who it was that put you in jail and why ,if your mad at someone, you can destroy their life,

My idea: Implement a Bill forcing all cell-phone and internet providers to include print-out and built in app in every new subscriptions phone/home services. Not difficult to do as any new grad programmer can do.
The bottom line is that parents should get of their own phones and pay attention to their children and what they are doing on line. And open their eyes and see that there children have changed in there moves.

@7:53 and that is exactly the sort of behavior that we have to realize is unhealthy. Change the culture not the laws. Promote healthy amounts of screen time with kids and don't be letting them start their day on it or end their night glued to it. These are small things which might make your kids really upset but like Haidt said, parents just need to take more responsibility and if we all do it then your kids won't be marginalized. Don't give government the heavy handed power to do a job that parents can and should do. Even when it's difficult or painful.
