trees everywhere. within feet of buildings. A towns like that, should not have a tree within a mile. BUY A CHAINSAW!!!! I lived for years in a national forest. the forest service required us to cut back the trees 500 yards. looking back now, it was no where near sufficient. that was as much for the protection of the forest, than us. They also told us don't bother calling them in the event of a forest fire, because it meant they were already overwhelmed and could not help. that was 30 years ago. forest fires were still not that big of deal. I now live where forest fires are unlikely (1 mile field all the way around), but my trees in my yard have all been marked and I have a saw standing by to take them out in a bad year.

Yep, you can either manage fire or fight it. Manage, RX burns, pile burning, laddering fuel removal, mastication, leave some dead and down for breakdown, fungus ect, leave some interior snags for the Owls ect. If you want to fight fires counties, state and feds need to invest in Canadian Super Scoopers, Erickson Sky Cranes or Converted DC 10 and add some DC 10 Dozers. Wildland Fire is just one of the many problems that plague California. Small Forest Communities need a voice

Literally WHERE is the logic behind let's cut all the trees down so the forest won't burn?!?! They're TREES, man! That's like saying let's get rid of all boats so they don't sink. Cut all the forests down, there will still be fires, they'll just head towards houses for fuel. And you won't have wildlife or clean air. But keeping thinking destroying nature will fix it, I guess 💁‍♀️

@@TotalofZero because Newsome won't allow logging to harvest the Beatle kill or cut fire breaks like most states do. They don't allow the conservation Corp to go in and clear dead fuels and underbrush anymore. They don't require PG&E to bury or update an out of date grid system. The fancy diners help that out. Most are not disputing the climate change. Science doesn't lie it's just interpreted to reflect a political narrative instead of reality. The reality is that logging the dead standing, fire breaks and dead fuel clearing is a necessity to insure the future of our forests. The let it burn mentality is outdated and detrimental to the future of our natural resources.

The basic idea was to use aircraft or rockets to inject silver iodide or another substance into the atmosphere to mimic ice nuclei. The amount of rain or snow a cloud can produce depends on a balance between the number of ice nuclei inside it and the amount of water available to grow around those nuclei. Clouds often lack naturally occurring ice nuclei, so injecting them with silver iodide particles (which are very similar in structure to ice) increases the number of nuclei. This makes the clouds more efficient at generating ice crystals that either fall as snowflakes or melt to produce raindrops, depending on temperatures in and beneath the cloud. Cloud seeding is also used to disperse fog banks near some airports. A more recent cloud-seeding technique is to use hygroscopic (water-attracting) particles such as potassium/sodium chloride to provide "seeds" for large droplets that fall more quickly, colliding with smaller droplets on the way and accelerating rainfall development.

@@Republicanismisadisease It's YOU who needs to be better informed. Start by researching NEPA, then all the lawsuits filed by the tree huggers in the 70s and 80s and resulting injunctions against logging in N California, Oregon and Washington. Inform yourself about the hippies who invaded the forests, spiked trees so loggers couldn't cut them (which killed some of those trees), chained themselves to trees or logging equipment and kept that up along with the lawsuits until they bankrupted many loggers. Inform yourself about the spotted owl lawsuits by tree huggers which stopped more logging even though it was well known they didn't need old growth forests to survive. Inform yourself about those "right wing" conservatives who live in or near the forests who keep a 100' fire break around their homes vs the "left wing" naturalists who leave everything on their property in a "natural state." Inform yourself how many decades that the fuel load has built up on the forest floor and how that, in combination with drought and diseased (pine beetle infestation) and standing dead trees have contributed to these massive, intensely hot and fast moving fires. Don't forget to inform yourself of the number of years that California's PG&E has refused to clear brush and hazard trees near their power lines and how their refusal to update their equipment has contributed to the massive California wildfires. When you actually inform yourself of all these things, then come back and we can have a discussion. Otherwise, pull up your britches and quit talking out of your nether regions. Edit to add, it's not the timber companies who don't want prescribed burns. They are in the business of harvesting healthy trees, not dead, diseased or burned ones.
