By the way, just because an Irishman sings this song, is nothing unusual. Irish fought on both sides of the war. Many Irish, about 40,000 fought for the Confederacy. Germans and many others were in the Civil war.
Shortly after the surrender of the Confederate General Robert E. Lee, at Appomattox Court in April of 1865, at the victory celebration in the White House, President Abraham Lincoln ordered the band to play "Dixie"!
This is the most beautiful song for Dixie I ever heard! I live in Southern Kentucky, which fought for the South. Kentucky was the only state to have a star on both the American flag and the Confederate flag.. the center star was Kentucky. Kentucky was truly divided, but not here in Southern Kentucky. Over 100 different Calvary, infantry units, artillery and other units fought for the South.
Those traitorous bastards burned our cities and killed us for their own control. The only power they had was a tent in Bowling Green 😆. Long live the Union
@@ayodejiolowokere1076 Yet they never had an anti-draft riot They didn't lie to their troops and say the war was to keep the union together and then years later change the reason to slavery which wasn't even true when they allowed slave states loyal to the union
@@adrianshephard378 I wonder if you really believe this revisionist nonsense about the war's cause. The bit about the riot is so irrelevant, I'm not going to respond to it.
@@ayodejiolowokere1076 "Lincoln forcing Union Soldiers to shoot innocent poor people who didn't want to leave their families and be forced to go kill other americans is irrelevant." I don't say this because I love the south, I say this because I hate Lincoln's government and the legacy of big government he created in america
